@GoDsLuVd1two Explain this: 'Romans 9:13 Even as it is written, Jacob I have loved, but Esau I have hated.' That is God speaking. God can hate certain people just as certain people can hate certain people. He just hates them for better reasons :)
I love this song. Has a truth to it. I agree with chadmight. @ gambitsgal1 but God does love the whole world and everything in it. He hates the sin and blesses that which is deserving or needing blessing. When the suns out its out for all of us. But I do agree that Jesus wont be there for us when we want something outside his will for us. And he will be less willing to give if we are not close to Him as we should be. I speak for myself also.:)
I have been on both sides of this and it hurts. I don't drive a brand new car, heck nor a new used car. beat van but if I see someone who genuinely looks as if they are in need of food. I go buy food. As for USA we need to focus on our country a little more.. Africa, yes, needs a lot of help with disease and poverty. But while USA ships aid or finances to them or any where er everywhere(which country ISNT asking USA for help LOL while we are help our own neighborhoods become hungry, and diseasd.
I agree with the last set of words about prosperous America. And yet we have hungry people outside our golden traced doors and many of us would turn a blind eye to the poverty stricken neighborhoods( who want to break the cycle but cannot). , ignore it and yet those people who own those doors 'cry woe is me'. And they want to turn a blind eye and look for more of what they already have thinking they don't have enough.
"Gorgeous" by Michael Pritzel (Violet Burning) seems to be on the same subject... its like God's perspective of American religion (mostly Christianity so called). Search, "Gorgeous Violet Burning"
finally someone has a song that is christian that i really agree with. i mean even an atheist could agree that the church is cold and dying most not all but im so tired of it. most ppl say one thing then do another. pray for ppl but never get involved ive befriended addicts of all kinds prostitutes gang members atheists etc etc he died for them too and as long asi got his wisdom why not.im not gonna sit in my safe pew not get involved. he loves them too all they sometimes need is a helping hand
@ImChristopherRobin He's being sarcastic about how we throw God around to reprisent America. When she was the oposite of pride, he's only about loving the lost, poor, and prostituted. Of course if we(American Christians) ever tried to witness to a prostitute, we might even get tempted to lust her after her rather than love her.
@nagzul i can see that but that is why i think women more than men should witness to prostitutes unless they too have a prob with sexuality.untill someone is healed of certain things it can be hard to pull another out of it too
@chadmight yeah, but also I think the american church culture is spiritualy dilusional. Since they have so many distractions. They use the lords name in vein and go out and do nothing that Jesus would. They have to make up theology just to explain why we don't see power like in the new testument.
you are totally missing the point of the chorus. It's meant to sound like that. As in as humans we tend to see Jesus as a magical being that just floats up there in the sky and just loves the United States. that is what the chorus means.
This is such a good song. I'm tired of American Christians thinking that the United States is "blessed" and that the other nations in the world and other Christians should follow our upright example. Upright was in massive sarcasm quotes.
This is by far the smartest song I have ever heard. John Reuben is an extremely intelligent song writer.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
This song gets a huge FAIL. Unless the writer intended the chorus to come off as a stoner anthem, in which case it's sort of funny.

@liz1742 I think it's suposed to sound like that. Like mob psychology is driving him crazy and the world is just so hard to understand.
