The song starting at 2:01 is used by DigitalRevTV as well. Does anyone can tell me the name of this catchy tune or where tu buy it, if it is not composed for Youtube photography channels only^^
i am glad that the snapfactory is so popular on youtube.
but it is very hard to get there especially for new channels.
although everyone is writing 'check out my channel' i think you really should do that and i do that aswell because the videos might be really good although no one is watching them.
nice video i love yell videos very great information and advice thanks i would love to see a video about doing a fashion shoot at a grave yard, or a fashion photo shoot at night with speedlights or strobes also do a graffiti shoot at mid day great video thanks again
This is all valid but a lot of us like myself have resorted to getting much cheaper manual controlled flashes and cannot go over the 1/200s limit. So I'd really like to see an episode describing the use of an ND filter with external flashes. Specifically, I'm interested to find out if when using ND8 (killing 3 stops I think) can I get enough power out of just one speedlight. I suspect I'd need at least two lights. Could you quantify this in an episode? Thanks.
I have tried to take a picture like mark at 5:49 with the popup flash and everything is very bright, I have tried at diferent distances but I have the same result, super bright image, I have a 600D what am I doing wrong?
@Uscbryan949 nikons do it better since you don't see any curtains at max sync speed unlike canon with which you need to use around 160. nad yeah 250 is enough, just use higher aperture.
Great video Mark. I resisted flash for awhile because I always read to use available light. Now I say screw available light. Flash does so much better. I use it every chance I get. Just learn to use it in manual and you can do some amazing stuff. Get into filters and you don't even need the sun anymore. You can make your own sun.
just great...i have become additive to such neat 'classes'. Yopu said you used it on Av @100 ISO but I do wonder what were the speeds on the shots (you did used a tripod).I'm on the 3:35 mark...lol..let me finish...might the answer come ahead...lol...O What lens was used first and which one after 6:36....
Nikon user, I understand how to underexpose the background in manual mode but how do you adjust for the flash exposure in manual mode, and why do you use TLL and not TLLBL mode on the flash outdoors.
Two questions: will you always use the flash at direct angle on the subject, like you did on the video?
And also, would you ever change the flash strenght to adjust the proper flash power directed to the subject? Like to help diminish the "flash appearance" sometimes the subject gets?
Mark, I look at strobes at adorama. For decent low budget strobes which would you suggest? So of these are confusing and expensive! Thanx mark great stuff from a future strobist.
Hi guys, I am currently using Nikon D90. However, the built-in flash makes the colors of the subject weird and usually cold tones. I don't know why I have this feeling when I am viewing the pictures in post-processing software like Lightroom after that. Especially with portrait photography. Any recommendations how to shoot with built-in and why I am having this strange sense. Probably, I do something wrong with the sync between shutter speed and flash? Any suggestions?
@AF0093 he means get the right exposure for the background light. So, since it was so bright he had to shoot at 1/4000. But that made the person dark because none of the suns light was on he face. Then you use the flash to fill in light.
Ahh yes, move into the soft light in the shade and blast her with the harsh directional flash light ;P hahaha just kidding of course, i got the point. Nice video
you always said "NOT TO TOUCH THE MODEL" you did touch the model hahaha! you need to stop saying that phrase my friend =D thanks for the tips! i enjoy you videos and learn from you as always.
Meter for the background at the aperture you want to shoot at, then adjust your off camera flash to balance the fill flash. If its on the camera, then use TTL fill (Nikon) to balance the light

When you are using the on camera flash during your last shoot, the flash looks very hard, is there anyway to make the light softer?

Funny, all the models always have odd names. BTW the d7000 has a 1/250 sync. But still not fast enough outdoors in bright light
