@krotoflik okay gotcha! But you need a total of four 2 3/8" pieces, one for each of the feet right? And then you use two 1 5/8" pieces for that actual sliding base which should bring the total of 1 5/8" pieces to fourteen...??? Just went by the video description list and am a little confused...any help is greatly appreciated!
@1encinitas Ha, I never noticed I said 2 - 2 3/8. You are right there! You do need four, one for each leg of course. But the extra two 1 5/8 pieces you are thinking of are for if you were able to get the 3/4 pressure pipe. Not the PVC pipe. You can still put the base together without the extra connectors as the screws will hold it all together. Thanks for catching that error and I will update because of it!
@93rhdej1 Thank you, I found it was called pressure pipe according to Menards, but I am sure what you stated is exactly that. At the time I couldn't figure out where I got it from. Thanks for the comment!
@VocalDistortionFilms Thank you! For tripod heads I couldnt tell ya, I simply removed the top head from a cheap tripod of mine and bolted it to the slider. Good Luck!
@LIBltdProductions Now thats a Christmas gift! :) Now of course I did design this so I would recommend this personally. I think it depends on everything you plan on building for your camera as far as equipment is concerned. If you are on a tight budget and want to make as many DIY's as possible then yes! If you have plenty of cash then it never hurts to see what is out there and consider straight up buying gear that is fabricated from aluminum. Thanks, and Merry Christmas!
i know you tried not to use wood for this project, but do you think one solid piece of wood with two holes drilled right through with enough room for the broomsticks would work as a carriage?
@Gortess That may work, but you would still need to put the sliding feet inside otherwise there will most likely be to much friction for the carriage to slide smoothly. Good luck!
@krotoflik Frustrating - It was just two to three weeks ago my wife convinced me to toss out that bag of polyfill I'd used for another project a few years ago.
"Do you really think you're going to be making any pillows anytime soon?"
"No... I guess not."
Guess I'll try it without the poly first, and then if I think it'll help...
@krotoflik - I bought all the PVC and parts the next day, and built it rather quickly. I love PVC projects because they're so simple, quick and cheap.
The head I have on my tripod was too heavy and it wasn't until a few days ago that I got one that worked.
When I was first experimenting, I wasn't happy with how it was sliding, but after getting the head I grabbed some Armor All as suggested and it was a WORLD of difference!
@Beatlesfan1225 No problem! Its very possible when you go to build it that it will come out cheaper too. Just depends on where you get your parts I guess. You might be able to find those same brooms at the Dollar Tree but I'm not for certain. Thanks!
@xenomg1 Haha, thanks! If you have any questions let me know. Heck if you get yours together and everything is good, you could even post all your conversions here for anyone else that might like to know ;). Good luck!
Update: I removed the mystery pex from the inside of the sliding platform. It works great without it! Also, something i tried is I applied "Armor All" original to the broom sticks and buffed it in really well. That sucker slides like butter on a hot pan!
@schoolpost2009 Thanks, if you do let me know how it turns out. I will try and track down that mystery pex and if I find it I will update the information. Good luck.
I made 12 - 1 5/8in pieces like you said but didn't have enough for the end pieces, needed a total of 16 or did I do something wrong?
1encinitas 4 days ago
@1encinitas If you are referring to the feet, or caps connecting to the 45 degree elbows, those use the 2 3/8 inch PVC pieces. Hope that helps.

Talcum powder is great for not getting noise from the rails while sliding.

Nice diy. Btw your thin walled pipe is a low pressure 200psi pvc pipe. Not a Pex pipe

Excellent... looks like an easy build and certainly within the price range of "not much to lose if it doesn't work".
Been looking a different builds for a while and I think I'm going to try this.
Thanks for your work and documentation...
