It is a fact, that in countries with stricter gun laws (harder to get a gun) there are less violent crimes. Sure, a few criminals will still find a way to get one, but those are few.
your argument is, that in federal states with stricter weapon law, there is more crime then in others. but that`s because the criminals can get their weapons in the next federal state, and take them, nearly without any control to the state with harder laws. if there would be a general weapon prohibition in whole america, this problem wouldn`t be.why else, america has one of the highest rates of murder in world?

In close quarters combat, however, a stout big blade is very useful. And I, consequently, own several Bowie knives. While it is true that "happiness is a warm gun", a knife is an indispensable backup weapon.
You've obviously never lived in one of America's major cities. A guy with a knife coming at you is something you don't want to have to deal with, sharp edges can be employed in many ways using an uncountable amount of techniques. Having a knife to combat a guy with a knife isn't going to ensure victory, it's ensuring you're on par with him, assuming you even know what you're doing with a knife. A gun dominates the guy with a knife, it's better protection.

I own a gun for personal protection (several in fact). In my part of the United States, I can walk down the street and go about my daily business with a rifle slung over my shoulder or a pistol in a holster on my hip, openly viewed, and it's 100% legal (it's called open carry). Not all states allow open carry, but mine does. That's the extent of American gun laws. Now you know what "deranged" really is, at least from your perspective.

There are likely some types of gun control that are effective without stripping away others rights to bear arms (i.e. psychiatric/criminal record checks). However, when other variables are properly controlled, there is no evidence that gun ownership rates have any causal relationship with violent crime rates. Social and economic factors DO.
Actually, the study you are referring to is a study done by Dr. Arthur L. Kellerman not the FBI. Your source was obviously the Brady Campaign's website because they also incorrectly cite the result as "7 times" when the actual study originally claimed 47 times and was later refined to 2.7 times.
The Kellerman study has been thoroughly debunked by Dr. Gary Kleck and Dr. Henry Schaffer for erroneously inferring causation using the case control method, unreleased data, and selection bias.

your argument is, that in federal states with stricter weapon law, there is more crime then in others. but that`s because the criminals can get their weapons in the next federal state, and take them, nearly without any control to the state with harder laws. if there would be a general weapon prohibition in whole america, this problem wouldn`t be.why else, america has one of the highest rates of murder in world?

A guy with a knife coming at you is something you don't want to have to deal with, sharp edges can be employed in many ways using an uncountable amount of techniques. Having a knife to combat a guy with a knife isn't going to ensure victory, it's ensuring you're on par with him, assuming you even know what you're doing with a knife. I own a gun for personal protection (several in fact). In my part of the United States, I can walk down the street and go about my daily business with a rifle slung over my shoulder or a pistol in a holster on my hip, openly viewed, and it's 100% legal (it's called open carry). Not all states allow open carry, but mine does. That's the extent of American gun laws. Now you know what "deranged" really is, at least from your perspective.

One of the key things you accidentally forgot to mention, (that you wouldn't know, since you don't know about firearms and had to look that up), is that an assault rifle such as the MP-44, AK-47, or M-16, can be set on full auto and fire as a machine gun. Clearly you didn't even know what an assault rifle is. Regardless, firearms in the hands of a law abiding citizen have prevented many a burglary, theft, attack, rape and murder.

@helehu39 What means would you take to defend your life and the lives of your family? I grew up in a hamlet 35 km ( 21.87 miles) from the nearest law enforcement. If someone broke into my home, I had to defend myself for at least 20 -25 minutes before any police showed up. I am not an advocate of vigilatism, I am an advocate of self defence.

@andysamba Read my fucking comment.. I GREW UP 22 MILES FROM THE NEAREST POLICE DETACHMENT. An alarm would MAYBE scare an intruder away, but they would probably already have realized there was no police around.I am glad that I live in a country were I am allowed to protect myself. BTW guns aren't evil. They don't load themselves, or fire on their own. People load firearms, and shoot them. Call me whatever you want, but I don't plan on getting killed by a home invader.

When innocent, law abiding people have no way to defend themselves against criminals and are DEFENSELESS, (no firearms), THAT IS EVEN MORE EVIL! @andysamba People were killing each other from the beginning of time until approx 1470 ( when the first gun (matchlock musket) was invented) without guns. Guess what? It still happens. A gun isn't dangerous. IT IS THE USER THAT CAN BE. Great Britain has had a ban on guns for decades, and they still have huge numbers of firearm related crime. The answer isn't banning guns, it's keeping firearms out of criminal hands. An armed society is truly a free society.

I live in Scotland,guns are banned and no-one is getting killed on the en masse scale that you guys do over in the USA. I just don't get why your forefather's wrote that line into the constitution. I f they hadn't millions upon millions of lives could have been saved. Any one of those people might have found a cure for cancer, or something of equal or above importance.

I got robbed a few months ago in college and as you find out it happens when you are not home...Thieves usually don't want confrontation...so they strike when people are not there...had I been home the thief would have found my rifle shoved in his ass!

No I had my guns hidden...thank god!...but it's not really that shocking trust me theres lots of robberies in college towns...I know it's sad when you need a gun to protect yourself from college kids!

You don't need to tell me about college towns and crime. Interesting though that it seems there is more crime in towns that have colleges, who don't allow guns on campus. I was stating you got bularized, not robbed. Robbed is usually when you are at the incident when it happens, burglary is when you're not home. I almost got robbed a few weeks ago by two people. No mention of a gun on my hip, yelling, swearing, or threats involved by me but they understood not to mess with me. :)

Those are phony statistics. They may be true in households of drunks, drug addicts & gang bangers. But in 100% of the households of gun owners that I personally know of, 0% of their firearms have been used in a dangerous or unlawful manner.

As an experiment: victim disarmament fans should put a sign on their front door proclaiming their support for gun control. And gun owners should put an NRA sticker on their front door. (if your a gun owner or a person that supports the 2 nd Amendment, you are an NRA or similar 2A organization member , right ?) Then see witch household is less likely to be invaded by criminals.

Actually, there was an organization in New York the 80's which did exactly that - members posted signs on their front lawns stating "There are no guns in this house." The organization quickly disbanded after a large percentage of those homes were robbed. I'm trying to find the article I read that in; I'll post the URL here when I find it.

Vox91, before too vigorously insulting others as being ignorant and uneducated, you would do well to consult the primary sources for your statistics. There are likely some types of gun control that are effective without stripping away others rights to bear arms (i.e. psychiatric/criminal record checks). However, when other variables are properly controlled, there is no evidence that gun ownership rates have any causal relationship with violent crime rates. Social and economic factors DO.

Actually, the study you are referring to is a study done by Dr. Arthur L. Kellerman not the FBI. Your source was obviously the Brady Campaign's website because they also incorrectly cite the result as "7 times" when the actual study originally claimed 47 times and was later refined to 2.7 times.
The Kellerman study has been thoroughly debunked by Dr. Gary Kleck and Dr. Henry Schaffer for erroneously inferring causation using the case control method, unreleased data, and selection bias.
