  • You can tell this is right in the days of Hoist. Sounds exactly like the studio version!

  • I had the pleasure of experiencing Phish from very early on. They opened for Blues Traveler at the Wetlands Preserve in Manhattan, in 1988, so I feel very fortunate. Coventry was bittersweet. Love to see some of their performances at Nectars.

  • They got better with time. Feel more fortunate to here them 94-99 when they were at their prime.

  • 94 was the peak IMHO. They plateaued at that point and held steady. But Hoist blew them up. I'm not disagreeing with you because they definitely grew as musicians and improved. But nothing was like standing so close to Trey and Mike that when they swung their heads I got hit by some of their sweat! You can't see Phish with anything short of 15 to 20k thousand people. I saw them with 300 crammed in to a lil bar and that is what I am fortunate to have experienced.

  • Disagree. 1st off, you really enjoy getting sweat on you? Ive seen them packed 300 people and 15-20k. They play a big show better, regardless they werent very good in the 80s. raw n not tight

  • @espolax I agree that 94-99 seemed to be their prime. To see them in that time was a real treat, before you had to get on wait lists to get tickets Lol. I am an odd fan of theirs though, I generally prefer the studio albums to bootlegs. Unless I was there I lose the affection for the jam and I think the jams on the albums are very good through Rift. After that I get a little less impressed all the way around. The thing that draws me to them is composition, and they deliver that in spades.

  • ah, the good ol' days

  • tight!

  • funny seeing you here :-)

  • i see you everywhere.

  • guess we've got the same taste in music, for the most part
