no, dependent suspensions are just more durable and cheaper. and in real world, no rich person would waste life on crawling stuff, so crawlers don't have a proper off roader with IRS to begin with.

what's wrong with the suspension systems? the FJ40 has a bruiser setup, with leaf springs and even the shocks are in the right location, as for the ford, it's using a common triangulated 4-link setup, with the shocks obviously in a well functioning location.
