Years ago my local cinema closed down, to be replaced by a multiplex, that shows practically the same film on every screen. One of the last shows at the old cinema put on by the manager was a selection of news-reels and trailers for all the big films from the past 20-30 yrs.

I never got the chance to go see it , but this film more than makes up for it........

....... Some people say that the minutes spent at the end of the film shooting an empty cinema hall are self-indulgent. I disagree, as a way of paying tribute to and honoring all the pleasures of cinema, it's an act that is unsurpassed.

@SuperMoominpapa I would offer that the final minutes of the film (and even the film as a whole) are, of course, self-indulgent, and that's exactly what art should be. What use would there be for art that doesn't indulge the sensibilities of the artist?
