dudes, buy the xbox360 bundle (resident evil5 edition) it has the awesome jasper chip that avoids the RROD for ever. the probabilities of getting the RROD are 0.00000001%. on november 8th i will birth 2 months with my xbox360 bundle (my first xbox360) and i play like 10 hours per day and nothing happens. it keeps cooler than my fridge. and i dont have any problems.

2redring = overheating

3redring = general hardware failure i.e. rrod is caused by the expansion of the heatsinks around the cpu and gpu causing solder to crack on the chips meaning the cpu/gpu is detected as removed or broken when the solder is actally broken. Is fixed by heating solder back up (towel trick) but this is temp fix, to fix fully the xclamp on the heatsink must be removed and replaced with screws. Continued...

err... not all "deaths" are deaths at all.

Mine had the red ring of death. turned out to be the hard drive. all i needed to do was take it off an put it back in again and now it works perfect.

Flashing red rings.... isnt always death. it might just mean its a connection or a problem with an accessory (mine was the hard drive)

I was once told by a friend who repairs consoles at Game that its only really death if its a solid red ring, not flashing.

unlike the coffee table, that showed yellow if something was wrong with the connections, the 360 just has the red rings o.O Its easy to get confused between death and something wrong with something attached to it.

Yes, 4 flashing lights mean no video cable, this means RROD and 2 means over heating. Read the fucking manual

I just did. all it says is call customer support. you cant get anything from that. Check on the X-box customer support website. it will say THERE that 3 flashing lights, like this guy, and my own console, is either the power supply, or a hardware issue, hardware listed as the hard drive, controller, wireless adaptor, anything that might be connected to the 360. you should test everything before saying its dead, rather than seeing all these videos and taking it as death instantly.
