  • Thank you Marty! This is awesome! It seems that you know all the secrets........Peace!

  • Thanks for this. I have found it very helpful and useful. I even took it a step further and went from the 13th fret low E string (F note) up to the 22nd fret high e string (D note).

  • marty you are a natural me and my daughter are learning a lot we arehappy with all your lessons peace out for now thanks for all the work you do for us we really are having fun

  • Hey Marty, please what's your guitar model and amp? thanks

  • thanks alot marty, this help out alot, laters tmac

  • Ihave looked at the D minor pentatonic, but when you go off and end up in different places where do you go from there?!

  • That isnt D Minor pentatonic....

  • Hey, really like the videos. One thing frustrates me; you show the scales.. but you dont teach how to use them when you go off into a soloy bit. I dont know how, and i dont want a reply like "woah duude, you just gota have the floow duuuade" #¬¬

  • best 10 min lesson EVER

  • is that the same as the A minor pentatonic extended scale?

  • you rock Marty

  • Hi Martin

    good job men!

I like this video. But I would like to ask if you can also show your right fingers moving.

That wioll be great and helpful for some of us new in this business

    thanks

  • Just when I thought I knew all about the major/minor pentatonic scales.. Where the heck do I find the boxes for minor/major boxes(extentions) for the roots that start on the A string? Google does not show me as much for the 5 postions an the A string .The basics are mostly for the E string root notes fo Maj/min pentatonic. Anyone have a good site that shows those positions?

  • exhilarating... haha ur hillarious man! love it! i've learned so much thanks!

  • I finally see the light. I've had that ah-ha moment. Thanks

  • Hey marty whenever i try to learn a solo from a song say the hells bells solo for example i understand what notes to play but i dont understand how to keep the pace and timing help please

  • @matthewm107 try getting a metronome. They are used solely for timing! You can Google it and come up with one on line to use! Try counting as well 1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 2 and 2 and 3 and 4 and 3 and 2 and 3 and 4 and so on.

  • Marty, i love your lessons. :)

  • where is part one, anyone?

  • this is sick but can the same be done with other keys, or anything similar to this ?

  • how can you tell what key you are the playing the minor pentatonic scale if you go all over the neck? if you are playing in one key do you have to stay in that key? or can you switch your keys in the song from b minor to g or ect?

  • hey....is this scale used only 4 blues....or can we use it to play metal ??

  • how do u make it do the "stop" sound at 6:46 to 8:49?

  • do your 'jam track' chords all come from d minor? i'm trying to figure out how to match solos to chord progressions

  • THANK YOU i used that same scale do jam a little in your jam xD

  • Great lessons! I think it might get us working more and understanding better if you named the notes or degrees in scales instead of frets. Thanks for doing all this.

  • Fucking awesome! Definitaly subscribing, keep it up!

  • super cool

  • side question:in a run down of the extended pent, when with distortion , how do u get these previous played notes NOT to be going on sounding and mess up your solo?

  • You use your right-hand knife-edge, palm, other fingers, whichever is easiest at the time, to mute any strings you don't want to ring.

  • Can't find Part 1 of this video, can u help me pls?

    Thx

  • Part 1 is here:

    /watch?v=jZnNAI1CSpw

  • Thx!

  • cheers

  • @cmartinjr2 Thanks! Been looking all over for it!

  • you should do a lesson on those funky voicings at the end there. a rhythm lesson with those would be seeee-ick

  • Demolition man at 5:10? lol! Thanks fo the lesson Marty :D Keep it real.

  • Hey Marty, I only have an acoustic guitar does all of this apply to acoustic guitars also?

  • yes

  • Thanks you have helped me alot of learning how to play the guitar.

  • @youcanlearnguitar very smooth man! are you in a band? you should be if your not. very impressed!

  • all guitar are the same its tuning that separates them most asides from the tombre the pedal offers

  • @Mako235 some solos yes and some solo's no, when you have to use the 17th fret and higher you do need an electric guitar

  • @Mako235 dude, the only difference between a acoustic guitar and a electric guitar is the the electric guitar is electric :)

  • @Fivedeadcorpses lol nice explanation XD

  • @Mako235 yes man its the same thing

  • @Mako235 It applies to all 6 string guitars in the standard tuning. the only difference is that one projects its sound and the other uses pickups to transfer the sound to an amplifier.

  • @Mako235 obviously

  • Marty show us how and what you're playing on the jam track or direct me to a vid if you've already made it. what strings are you strumming? just the top few? thanks in advance bro

  • 10 minute musical snacks, hahaha. I must say I'm a fan of your approach to teaching, Marty.

  • this scale is only in standard tuning??.. in drop c or drop B how is it??

  • really nice ;)

  • Great!

  • Alright, great stuff.
