You never want to pull on the tendon because it can cause serious damage to your horses leg. You only want to apple pressure on you horses cannon bone so it will be snug. Also when you are making the "v" around the fetlock you want to go over it once to make sure it is protected.
I already know how to wrap polos on a horse, but if I didnt, this video would be very diffucult for me to learn from. The video needs to be more zoomed in on the leg so people can see clearly. Also a dark polo being wrapped on a horse in the shade creates a problem for being able to see clearly. Otherwise, great video!
@graceland4life123 u kinda take the very end of the velcro tab and put it to the end of the velcro on the polo near the end to make a circle or loop then u stick it together the rest of the was and roll it with the velcro things being rolled up inside of the wrap.. i hope that made sense haha
I think she did a good job. If you guys wouldn't be so critical. If you don't put the polo wrap on like this then you shouldn't be using them. You can really hurt your horse's legs if you don't know how to use them.
yes as opposed to pulling them in the opposite direction, which isn't the way they naturally sit. When she says that they will be pulled to the inside she doesn't mean they are going to be stretched like a rubber band or anything, just offered support. Hope that helped ^_^
I have Co-Flex. (a cohesive flexible bandage.) Can I use that on my horse just the same as polo wraps and support boots??? If I can... what is the best way to put it on????
Just some advice (and I'm speaking solely from experience), you should never ride your horse without some form of leg protection because it only takes one bad hit from ANYTHING to put your horse out of commission. Wrapping for hauling is good, but you should at least put polo wraps on a horse when you ride, too.
I'm a believer in the technology that the Classic Equine Legacy sport boots provide, because it mimics what nature has already designed in the horse. It's okay for you English riders to wear something that is mostly endorsed by us Western riders. :-) After all, when it comes to leg protection, you should want the best for your horse, right?

your NEVER suppose to pull the tendon! there shouldnt be more pressure on the tendon than on the front part of its leg!

also rub the legs after you remove them to help more circulation to flow to the wrapped area
ThisPrettyBinxx 1 year ago
when you remove a polo wrap, remove it quickly incase your horses spooks or moves and hurts itself with the polo wrap half way on

Ehhhh, I've never used that, but if it's anything like vetrap, I wouldn't, because it might hold in too much heat.

We don't wrap legs for exercise, but when we trailer, we always wrap.
It provides the best support for standing for hours, and protects the legs.

A good type is brushing boots. Polo's will constrict from the heat and are worse for legs.
