it dont matter if The Light was getting play on Mtv or Bet back in 2000, i remeber that too, i was 18 @ the time. the thing that matters was common, mos def, talib & a bunch of other true hiphop artist at the time were keeping it real with real beats & lyrics..it was all that No Limit rap and other shit from the south that was really getting main stream attention..im sorry to disagree but common was not yet mainstream in 2000, he was still keeping it real with true hiphop
