  • Game graphics are about to get even better!

  • does anyone else see the deformed face at the top section of the pot at 1:48?

  • imagine video games lol

  • hmm the glass confuses me though

  • Simply Fantastic!

  • Blender User ^.^

  • @lksdc me too XD

  • Orcam, a cute name :D

  • i have no idea why they did not use the empire strikes back imperial march as background music here, but you can play this while watching the video -

  • This is great. I'm curious about the degree of accuracy in the 3D model that is rendered. For example, how small are your triangles when applying texturing. Would it be possible to get the STL for the output posted somewhere?

  • Amazing, especially the fact that the reflectivity was perfectly replicated.

  • thumbs up if you want them to put a human inside

  • Incredible, I love you!

  • omg when i was 8 yeas old i had the idea to make a machine exactly like this one in the future so video games would seem more realistic. well tnks now i need to think in another thing to create in m future :/

  • Uncharted treasures, anyone?

  • Are these going to be available to buy?

  • @MrCheshireCats Can't tell if trolling or retarded.

  • @MrCheshireCats Probably but they will be EXPENSIVE AS HELL!!!!

  • MAkes me think of TRON.

  • how can u make so lame video for cool thing like that

  • 1:40 Live concert for a Vase!

  • Code Lyoko...wat?

  • They should use this for gran turismo lol ^_^

  • Reconstruct a person! Just sit still long enough and we would have the perfect graphics for people finally

  • Crysis 3 wird so gemacht... damit die grafik auch ja passt ;D

  • @TheDustyRavage Dont know what you said, but i understood Crysis 3 ;)

  • Thats quite something :P Just imagine the power of this tool..

  • reconstruct me!

  • L.A Noire 2 could use this to digitally re-construct peoples' heads!

  • i bet theyre using canon slrs, they have the remote shoot feature and they need a ton of cheap bodies

  • i wonder how much file space one reconstruction would take, considering how detailed it is

  • i hate videos without sound........

  • @lyaxx it's not about the music or sounds. so there are non of them.

  • skyrim shudv used this...

  • @emptyskullify do you even know how much memory it would take if your computer has to use this types of effects your computer will have to have like 30 gigs or ram for just a horse if it were to upload the Skyrim world it would crash when it has to upload a flower

  • @Defutionable they can scan something, and then make it les detailed, so it can be rendered by home computers, it wouldnt have better quality than today games, but the models will be more accurate

  • This would be amazing for cataloging artifacts and historical pieces of art. Students could explore treasures from around the world to scale instantly.

  • I will buy one of these when I become rich

  • can't wait to download a reconstructed model of boobs

  • gamedevelopers are soon not artists anymore but scientists

  • great remember I was here.Thai 7:44PM 1/21/2012

  • What is you put a mirror inside?

  • Awesome! Great news for 3D game developers everywhere...

PS. Listen to this watch?v=-MkHew7g6CM while you watch for a good music sync up.

  • I WANT THAT.

  • Maybe I could build one in my basement?

  • Oh my God that's awesome.

  • you can create like this using Autodesk 123D Catch and a digital camera.

  • I want to sit in it.

  • Making video games with this lOL, The graphics would loook soooog guud.

  • And then Link throws it at a wall for rupees.

No but seriously I can't stop staring at that vase @_@

  • so whats the point of this?

  • @matholimeu It has incredible potential for science, first of all. For example, if you have a fossil that you would like to show to scientists across the world, travel is not necessary. They can see the entire fossil in 360 degrees with full detail. It also has really good potential in gaming.

  • video games and porn. fuck yeah!

  • I think I went deaf for the duration of this video.

  • Vsauce

  • This is how they made the skyrim loading screens

  • @FinaleFrontier

Nope, the textures had way less polygons and vertexes.

  • @ZvloHD i know lol

  • now, reconstruct boobs!

  • @Jemoregotin but first reconstruct Sofia Vergara's body!

  • Rockstar Games did something like that for the face expretions in LA NORIE

  • @WisdomOldMan Actualy what they did was nothing like that.

  • damn.... guess ima b out of a job soon........

  • One step closer to holodeck....

  • Who just watched Vsauce, thumbs up!

  • Perfect for games!

  • @Gangster5759 Shut the fuck up faggot.

  • @InternetSenation watch out we got a badass here that trys to be cool on the internet ;) what leads you to say that to me? i dont see a honourable reason to say that. so please explain to me why you think that way, i will listen ;)

  • @Gangster5759 Your a faggot, that's basically it.

  • @InternetSenation well i cant really say that about myself cause i am a hetero man and proud (: and that commend means you are a racist too because you judge people about their sexual-romantic habits and thats what makes you a bad person. piece <3

  • @Gangster5759 Piece? Fail, lol. Faggot.

  • @InternetSenation troll spotted! fire the orbital friendship cannon! :DD i dont think your mom loved you ;) look what you have become :D

  • @Gangster5759 Fail..

  • @Gangster5759 friendship cannon you say? ponies you say?

  • @RnbwBlitz ya ponies i say (; brohoof for you :D

  • @Gangster5759 yay! /)*(\^_^

  • Wow!

  • This sounds like something out of portal. "Please place the vase in the Aperture Science Enhanced Reconstruction Sphere."

  • i was waiting for this for a long time!

  • so what happens? it recreates a 3-d image?

  • Seems kinda low tech for where we should be right now.

  • Comment removed

  • imagine this for future video games.

  • @lechugatony even today it would be possible to use this for objects in games. the models and textures produced by this are "perfect". you just have to change the settings of this beast, so the model has less polygons and the texture less resolution. you could adjust the settings for every game engine.

  • @KillerExe01

The models will suck, computers don't understand topology and can't optimize for animation. It's also impossible to scan anything that doesn't exist in the real world, like aliens or dragons.. plus it's small, so environments are impossible.

  • @runedermilot lol its an expensive way of making library items haha

  • @KillerExe01 you have to retopologise and the re-size the texture. Then you need to map the texture onto the UVs properly. Sure it's possible, but the retopologising and UVs would still have to be finished by hand, which are long processes. It would probably be easier to use it to capture a high res texture from all angles, and then make the model from scratch. You could use this to make the normals though.

  • @flufflesthepancake lol. . . you have no idea what your talking about do you?

  • @fursack123 lets compare my videos to yours... I have an animation that I modelled, textured and rendered. You have nothing. Let's compare the courses we're doing. I'm doing a Bachelor of Design (GAMES)... you're doing?

  • @flufflesthepancake . . you mean "monolith"? bevel some edges catch some highlights, your lights are way to evenly lit, crank the shadow rays, turn on raytracing, it has no depth to it. everything is too cg perfect, which is the exact opposite of what you want an environment to look like cover up perfectly hard lines where say, buildings meet ground planes etc.things pitch things off so they arent so perfect. rendered in what? software? if you say mental ray, i will slap you

  • @fursack123 I surpassed my polygon limit even with the simplest shapes that I was using, if I bevelled the edges I would skyrocket past it at a billion miles per hour. Thanks for the input though. Also, it was meant to be rendered with the Maya software renderer but I said fuck that and used mental ray. The render took long enough, in fact it was the most painful process out of the entire thing seeing as it decided not to render the textures through reflections for no reason at all.

  • @flufflesthepancake do something at least bump maps/spec maps, your geometry needs to react to you lights more, and your lights need to just be re-lit.so what if you pick up more polycount, its not like the models are complex. cameras animation curves would be smoothed out. also sinse you are in mental ray, you can change your overall settings from draft to production, raise the reflection limit in the render settings to get the actual reflections you are looking for.

  • @fursack123 Thanks again. The reflections didn't render for no reason. It was on production and on the highest settings I could push to render before the deadline. Most of the cutbacks were due to time, like light fog and other things I cut. But the polycount had to be restricted by the guidelines of the submission, I had to meet the budget, which was a pity. I had bump maps on all the textures, they're just subtle. Nothing had normal maps, which was the drawback. Can I see any of your work?

  • @lechugatony ya make a giant one over the earth and select a location

    or somthing

  • @lechugatony imagine this for future porn

  • I'd never have to wash my fleshlight.

  • games.
