  • Very much doubt the "chichi" story.. saying "gaijin" as much as possible doesnt earn you bonus points either.

  • haha... one can never avoid stupidity in a foreign culture. i call it the FAF phenomenon. "foreigners acting foolish." it's inevitable. you just don't understand very basic things all around you or how to negotiate them. even with some knowledge of a language or a culture there will be miscommunication, foolishness is unavoidable. truth be told, neither can we avoid stupidity in our native countries. it is inevitable. we must come to peace with foolishness. foolishness is our destiny. :)

  • hello, where are your titties? haha fuckin funny!

  • Oh man! I'd love to hear the follow up to the story too, this was some funny stuff!

  • HAHAHA that breasts story had me ROFLING lol

  • wouldn't you make the o in otoosan drag out since otosan means uncle?

  • hey all. check out our web series about gaijin living in japan, called gaijin carnivores.

  • that was comedy!

  • hahaha in spanish chichi means breast to How cool how some japanese words are simular to those of spanish like murasaki is purple and morado is purple in spanish

  • Another gaijin preacher said KAME sama instead of KAMI sama. ("Mr.Turtle" instead of "God"). You should have looked at the horror faces of the congregation!!!

  • @JesusisLord7771 I always get kimi, kami, and kaze mixed up..... it's sooo bad. Dx

  • @MissLoveTantei91

    kimi=you (masculine)

    kami=paper,God

    kaze=wind,cold(sickness)

  • @JesusisLord7771 Lol, thanks for this.

  • I mean, if you go up to an attractive women and hug her from behind, but then realize she has no breasts and ask "Anata no chichi ha doko desu ka?" and then realize, "her" voice is very tenor and "she" has a beard....then you will have used it correctly....

  • hahahahah chichi wa doko desu ka? XD

  • epic fail

  • Haha awesome vid. 5 Stars for the great stories.

  • Epic Fails lmao! Cool vid dude

  • true story of stupid gaijin!!!!!

    epic!!!!!

  • LMAO

  • OUCH!

  • I heard one where a girl said a woman's baby was "Kawaisou". Sometimes, you can removie the final "i" from an adjective to say "Looks ____". But don't try it with the adjective "kawaii", because "kawaisou" can mean, "pitiful, worthy of sympathy." So the gaijin girl accidently said, "Your poor baby!"

  • I learned that the hard way as well o_o hahaha

but instead I called my friend pitiful ^^ yay XD

  • Haha "where are your breasts?" are just so fucked up. He was just lost in translation but the fear of the girl makes me feel so much sympathy for her :( Must have been so dreadful :( Good video btw! :D

  • HAHA XD nice :P

  • now im getting nervous! i think im gonna screw up!

  • for bloopers go the mangajin dot com.

(I tried several times to put this page but you tube won't let me ????

  • fightprejudice,

YouTube doesn't allow URLs or hostnames in comments. Spam prevention.

  • For those who, like me, like to read about bloopers, please see any old issue of Mangajin. Mangajin is not longer published but I believe you can find old issues in their web or ebay. Maybe Amazon com? So bad they stopped making Mangajin. It was very good for learning nihongo.

  • Kawaii!!

  • A friend tried to order chicken breasts at KFC in Japan by pointing at his chest then the breasts of the little girl behind the counter. It did not go well!

  • so basically saying Kawaii is like saying Hawaii with a K instead of a H right?

  • I would say YES...except you need to drag out the last vowel...

    KA WA IIIIIIII!

  • Ouch!

    Good story man.

    Peace

  • ROFL i want more

  • The EXACT same thing happened to me...I told my friend some little kids were かわい。She looked at me strange look and I realized my mistake. Oops! かわいい!

  • This made me laugh so hard.... xD

  • lol thats amazing, im in japanese 101 and i know you can't call some one elses father chi chi. probably slipped the gaijin's mind... poor gaijin stories are so entertaining!

  • Someone did the kowai mistake in the 101 J4M, I pointed it out~

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!! I seriously laughed soooooooo hard at the chichi mishap because I got what you said in Japanese~! (^ω^)

Awesome lesson being quite original! It does show you picked up pretty sweet visual bay skills at teaching lessons~

  • 「ちちはどこですか?」

XD, great lesson. I am a little surprised that the gaijin was taken seriously though, especially by the mother.

  • Haha. That was awesome. ^^

I so wouldent want to be in the one to ask my bosses daughter wher her breasts are. xD haha.

I get a feeling he heard that later on. Hmmm. :)

  • Wow, if those mistakes make one stupid, then I'd be positively primordial. For years.

  • Great stories!! they were almost Kowai

  • Wahahahahahah!

  • now that I finally know his youtube account, I can mention him in my vid. lol.

  • LOL! That was great!

  • Best lesson yet. Those are things my teacher really drilled into our heads. :D

  • Lol. That would be pretty embarrassing (in both cases).

    Good J4M, Scott.

  • 父はどこですか。It's toooooo funny!!! Can't stop laughing *suffocates*

  • hahaha so funny

  • rofl, and I dont rofl often! Great vid!

  • Asking where there Banjos are in a Japanese music store can be fun, too. Depends on how you pronounce it...

  • LMAOOOOO!!! @ both stories!!

  • I wanna know how the stories ended.....lol

  • Awesome video... makes my mistakes seem better :)

  • ahahahah hilarious. that's funny cause where i live we use loads of japanese words here and there so when i first started learning academic japanese i thought it was weird to call your dad the same word for boobies haha

  • ahahahah ''where are your breasts'' :: breaks down into tears ::

  • Stop telling stories about me. lol No I'm not the one he was talking about, but I've done those before too. lol

  • Well, if I would have been the girl, I would have answered "Chin-chin wa doko desu ka?"

obviously japanese people may not counter impolite ^^

  • lol

  • I dunno why scott(unrested) keeps talking like that, I think he does it only so that english speaking audience can better understand it.

obviously its pronounced longer, like you said

    like oh toh san

  • ROTFL!! Great stuff and good editing as always!

  • Ahahahaaaaa :D

    Scott is the man

  • OMG! THAT IS SO EMBARRASING!

  • Funny stories!!! I love it!

    Also I love the ending!!!

  • KNEW you would!

  • MOO!

  • betamaxdc is creepy, hes everywhere D:

  • this is outstandingly entertaining

  • thatjapanesegirl makes me laugh every time :P

You are really a very good teacher, Scott.

Why the hell would chichi mean father AND breasts ?!?

  • OMG You Have a Huge Hole On Your Ear Ouch Call 911

  • Oppai is closer to boobs, chichi is closer to titties, at least in the sense of the words. Anyone, feel free to correct me on that if I'm wrong.

I think where the confusion comes from is foreigners pronouncing the "a" at the beginniing of "kawaii" like the second and third "a" in "Canada," sort of an "uh" sound that doesn't exist in Japanese. Closest sound in Japanese is "o", so a sloppy "uh"-sounding "a" ends up sounding like "o" to a Japanese speaker.

  • I won't correct you.

  • More people use chichi in Kansai. The rest uses oppai. Different from the relationship of boobs and titties.

  • johjima022,

Well Dayamn. I stand corrected then. Much obliged actually.

  • Yeah, I did not know that either.

  • Is Japan like that movie Tokyo Drift?

  • Exactly like it, nothing but drifters in every street. lol

  • i like this ^_^
