  • horrible trailer production. anyways cheers to my favorite movie

  • It was pretty different from the book, which I adored, but they made it WORK. Brilliant acting and I loved the soundtrack.

  • Great movie

  • " are you ready?" "what?" "to play doctor?"

  • This movie seems to have a different tone than the book.

  • this was fantastic :)

  • love the book, and love the movie too! <3

  • People that enjoy this movie are the same kinda people that listen to like..... Franz Ferdinand... makes me sick

  • @MegaCheezecake

    ...the fuck?

  • @MegaCheezecake In that case, I have the cure for you! Don't watch the movie, don't listen to Franz Ferdinand, and don't comment on the trailer!

  • @heliumholiday Hey man I have a cure for you! Stop hanging out in front of Starbucks. Stop thinking you are important enough to tell anyone what to do. Stop sticking up for lame ass movies

  • @MegaCheezecake Movies, music, coffee places? You have a label for just about everyone don't you? I'm sure that works out well for you in the real world.

  • they made his father seem more comical than menising..that was my biggist beef with the movie an when I read the book thats more how I saw Nat

  • Does anybody know the song that starts up around the first 22 seconds or so?

  • hmm in the book nat was kinda big, but i like books better then most movies...

  • running with scissors is my favourite book

it's so fucked up it's perfect

and the best thing is that the movie is pretty good, too (:

  • my childhood consisted on soccer games and sleep over oh men i miss the happy meals,

  • i still have them LOL :P

  • Comment removed

  • LOL I LOVED THAT MOVIE!!!

  • Whats the name of the song in the very start of the trailer, when his mother tells him shes meant to be famous?

  • movie

    teehee <3

  • but what i'm not getting is he said Nat was fat in the book....lol

    shes not in the novie

  • This trailer doesn't remind me of the book at all. It seems unrelated as far as tone and mood are concerned in my opinion.

  • yeah..after i read the book i see what you mean..lol

  • i just recently read the book..and i loved it.. :)...i'm now trying to get ahold of the movie :)

  • I read this book in 8th grade, I freaking love it, it's one of my favorites.

  • I just happened to catch this on tv and was immediately hooked. I loved all the actors and storyline! I'm gonna have to get the book now!

  • running with scissors is prob the most messed up book i've ever read, but i can't put it down (still reading it but so far that's my impression of it) it's so... weird. I'm not saying i hate it, cuz so far i really like it. it's just unlike anything i've ever read.

  • this movie made my life look so good

  • hahaha .... i know exactly what you mean! :)

  • i didnt know there was a book, ill have to read it... i relly like this movie i think i like its quirkiness

  • It is a fantastic book

  • do you know what the name of it is?

  • lolz its called "running with scissors" by augusten burroughs

i just started to read his work, i loved wolf at the table and itd be cool if they made a movie for that, im always curious how others see a story. and this book is hilarious btw..good reading material x]

  • Good movie. AMAZING book.

  • I thought this movie was shit. The book was amazing but this movie was just weak, apart from a couple of decent performances.

  • cute actor for Augusten what other movies has he done?

  • its a great black comedy! loved it!

  • he way the movie is portrayed, its like a happy go lucky, learn some life lessons type of movie, unlike the book - a depress fest! lol

  • i dont know why but i rented this movie when it first came out i think i was 12 so when i saw this i was totally freaked out and it was a bit akward because my mom was watching this with me:P

  • i freaking love the book, i literally stayed up all night reading it, it was that good

  • i read this whole book in 2 days. and that's shocking because i really hate reading. this book is amazing but i don't really like the movie. i don't think the book was portrayed the best by this movie.

  • All his books are awsome but my fav is running with scissors im renting the movie soon

  • joseph fiennes was FANTASTIC in this i mean he basically had to portray a pedifile which he was very adverse to but did it flawlessly

  • Im just going to go ahead and say it: I hated this movie. Every minute. I tried to get into it and found myself incapable. Horrible. Good acting, though.

  • Def want to see this soon. Ive read this book and really enjoyed it for its Crazy, surreal, witty and bitter ways. Ive since then read his recent memoir...A Wolf At The Table, about his deeply sad and particulary estranged, kinda scary relationship with his father. I TOTALLY recommend it too. His books always leave me wanting to know more about him. Infact i would recommend all his books. Look em up if ya have the time! :)

  • I luv' This movie but it made me cry. Its humorous though in a screwed up kinda way. I didn't know there was a book I have 2 read it!

  • Gawd I LOVE THIS BOOK :)

I have to see the movie.

When did it come out ?

    lol

  • How fucking posh does J Cross sound in this film :| I remember him in Jack Frost, that film was awesome =)

  • I just read this book.

I absolutely need to see this movie.

  • Those Pretentiously flat people who chime in with their- "Book is better than the movie"

Are ignorantly blind to the differences in artistic mediums. I think the book just feeds their narcisstic disfunctional "Identity"

Whereas the movie offers much more in the way of performance, execution, music etc. Their opinion is simply self righteous for

reading the book. Others choose not to read it, and the opinion of the movie is better, and more pure.

  • the book was way better than the movie.

  • the trailer is nothing to what the movie is actually like

  • where can i watch this online?

  • The movie was fantastic! Ive never read the book but i plan to, i cant find it in stores.

  • The book was amazing! Try to find it.

  • its in virtually ever Target round these parts! all of his books are there, as a matter of fact

  • Read it! I just finished it and saw the movie, and that book is now one of my favorite books of all time!! It's just so addicting, it's like some twisted drug in the form of an autobiography! Well, you get it, I just LOVE LOVE LOVE this book.

  • i know this book was like a drug i couldn't put it down i read it in 2 days! lol. i like the book way better than the movie. wbu?

  • THE SKYLIGHT WAS BULLSHIT IN THE MOVIE.

In the book they took off the entire ceiling, part of the roof, and installed a window.

    They didn't make a little hole :[

  • I totally agree!! I remember the skylight being one of the best parts in the book, and I remember him saying they were like "knee deep" in the dry wall, but in the scene there's nothing!! And yeah, they asked for money to buy a window and they crappily put a window in. That part was just so awesome! They shoud've gone all out in the movie for it.

  • Geez, tell me about it. That puny hole does that "episode" no justice. At all.

  • Just watched this film, just fantastic.

  • ahh this has always been my favorite book. But I never got a chance to see the movie. I wanna watch it so badly now. O_O

  • I just finished the book.. that is the awesomest memior ever. SO GOOD.

  • the books great and now i need to watch the movie

  • I love how this looks so HAPPY!

I mean the book was dark humor, but it was SICK.

  • i'm currently readin the book. i saw this last year with my friend, and i heard the book is a million times better, so i'm readin it b/c it's a million times better.

  • Same here, I'm always slightly disappointed in book-turn-movie films. But, oh well.

I loved Wolf At The Table. It was REALLY good.

  • I have to say i was disappointed that Natalie wasn't bigger like in the book.

  • ohhhhh like fat like in the book. hahaa i thought you meant a bigger role.

  • There are two ways of watching this movie. If you are with your friends you wil love it and laugh a lot. If you are by yourself then you will look at it from a different prosprective. It's a very sad, moving film and it is amazing

  • this movie is two thumbs up i never laughed so hard

  • Got the Book,WOOT!!!

  • Depends on how you look at the humor. There were actually quite a few but my humor is pretty dark lol

  • I've seen this movie and though i enjoyed it very much I must inform evryone that the trailer is very decieving. It's actually pretty depressing. Very few humorous scence.

  • I agree; there were a lot of funny moments in the movie, true, but the trailer makes it look like a comedy from front to back, which it wasn't at all.

  • what is the song that starts at 0.23 and finishes at 0.56 ish. im sure it was used in 'spaced' somewhere

  • Oh my god-- I thought the only person I'd recognize was Alec Baldwin, but Joseph Cross was in a 'Law and Order: SVU' episode that was so good I watched it over again on the three separate occasions it came on.

It was horribly sad, he was brainwashed by his over-paranoid mother into basically killing his kid brother. She lied to him and put horrible ideas into his head, and he was SUCH a great actor, but I never saw him in anything else.

    WATCHING IT!

  • I've seen that movie before and it was so good and hilarious!

    p.s.the book is way better

  • whats that?

  • wat is that song at the end???

    I love it

  • I don't know what song it actually is but I'm pretty sure it's by Scissor Sisters.

  • Benny and the Jets by Elton John

  • amazing movie

  • There's no way the movie could be as disturbing or graphic as the novel...it would be porn. This is one of my favorite books, though!! <3

  • Amazing hilarious movie!

    I NEED HIGH CEILINGS!!!

  • i just finished the book. loved it. will this movie ruin it for me???????

  • Nah, it's off from the book, but it's still enjoyable.

  • Im almost finished reading the book (which i love) and not yet seen this movie (which i hope to soon) but was wondering how much of the book do the follow and how much do they change? Because i can't imagine this film being as graphic as the novel alludes to.

  • no. its a pretty good film though it is quite different from the book, though same jist

  • i am in the midst of the book..i am dying to find this movie

  • I thought Natalie was supposed to be fat? (well maybe not "fat" but you get the general idea)

  • I love this movie.

  • joseph cross is so friggin cute!!!!!!!

  • has this film been released in england and if it hasnt will it be? x

  • u can get the film from a video club

  • yes this film has been released in england you can get it from HMV

  • i just started reading this book and augusten and natalie were supposed to be like 12 ad 13.

  • yeah in the movie they are, but it doesnt look like it does it? towards the end of the movie they say hes like 14.

  • OMG! I love this book! I read it over the summer in like 2 short days, and i haven't seen the movie yet, but my sister said that it didn't do the book justice... i am going to re read the book for a school project comming up too... so is the movie worth watching or am i wasting my time?

  • its worth it

  • oh my gosh! I LOVE the book. just finished it last night, and I'm excited to see the movie, I'm going to try to get that in this weekend.

  • no me convencio

  • i loved the book, but whoever directed the movie really screwed it up, it was supposed to be funny and it ended up being pathetically depressing

  • well if you think about it what the story is about is really depressing augusten even said when he first wrote the book it was really depressing but then he made it more funny cause when he read his journals they made him laugh but what the story's about is a depressing subject

  • The trailer makes the movie funny,

but i thought the movie was pretty sad

  • random: i read evan rachel wood is dating marilyn manson.

  • Awesome moooovieeee.

  • The book is really good. I was reading, until some faggot stole it and I still don't know who it was. But, poof! it was gone and I hadn't even finished it. grr!!!

  • it's "Benny and the Jets" by Elton John

  • i love that movie!! X)

  • ugh. when it says Dr. Finch has two daughters.

    doesn't he have four?

Natalie, Hope, one that lives with hippies, and one thats a hairdresser?

  • Hope was described as looking like an Indian princess with high cheekbones and straight black hair.

But yeah. Dr. Finch had 7 children. Six were biological and one was adopted.

  • im reading the book right now..im like up at the part when augusteins mother gives him away to doc. finch i love this boook!! its soo goodd

  • this movie was really good, but way too long... and not really that funny at all.

  • The book seems a little bit darker. I've never seen the movie though

  • Remarkable book. Good adaptation.

  • this was the best movie i have ever seen.Ever

  • I never heard of it.

  • I'm going to go ang watch that film, thanks for the recommendation. I still think this is definitely in my top5 of best films of all times :) I loved it very much, i cried to death.

  • Hmmm, well it just didn't do anything for me. To each their own. The Rage in Placid Lake is pretty good, the trailer is on youtube.

  • So not a comedy what so ever.

  • OMG love this movie!!! I luv u Joseph Cross!!!:)

  • This is the greatest movie of all time!!!

  • Why does the Finch's house look so nice? They are supposed to be slobs and Natalie is supposed to be fat. I haven't seen the movie yet, but i've read the book.

  • ive read it to and loved it.

they changed ALOT in the movie i heard. like you

said, natalie is suppose to be kinda fat.

but at the same time i think rachel evan wood is

perfect for this roll. so is joseph cross, even

though i don't think thats what the author

looked like when he was younger.

  • Joseph Cross is eerily reminiscent of a young River Phoenix.

  • omg..best movie ever!!!

  • benny&the jets

  • What is the name of the song starting at 2:08?

  • I just finished reading this book. I love it. I hope the movie isn't too much different.

  • I just read the book. Wow. Hope when I see the movie it'll be alike ._. Not like the way they screw up every other book-->movie...

  • Why are all of the characters attractive? Natalie is supposed to be fat, the mom is supposed to be a nut, the house is supposed to be trashed. They dolled it up way too much.

Anyway, this took place where I live. A friend of mine is currently Agnes's caretaker. (But its just a coincidence that Augusten and I have the same last name).

  • favie book!

  • i just saw this and i swear to god its the best movie ever. its so quirky and dark and emotional

  • this looks like a really quirky and funny video, sounds like my type!!! can't wait to rent it out some time!!

  • A couple of things to say about this film; it isn't as good as the book but you will enjoy it nevertheless and Annette Benning is fantastic as Deirdre and by far the best character for me!

  • i love that movie ^_^ im gunna read this book you speak of

  • the book is amazing im reading it right now

  • oh thanks. I love that song. Yes, i agree the movie is kind of disappointing compared to the book. I guess I expected too much

  • does anyone know the last song in this trailer?

  • i finished the book a while ago.. and finally got around to seeing the movie. when i saw the trailer, i thought it would be crap. but i actually ended up loving it. it is much different from the book, but i thought it was still really good. even if you read the book id recommend seeing it. i loved it! :3

  • Well, I have two -three chapters left, and the trailer really doesnt seem all that great. I mean like yall are saying, Natalie is suppose to be dirtier and chubbier... I don't know guess I will have to see the movie and get back to ya.

  • What the FUCK? Natalie is HOT. She's not supposed to be hot. Mmm... oh well.

If she calls herself fat in the movie, though, I'm going to be irritated.

Despite the differences, I think I'll enjoy the movie.

    It seems quirky.

  • i just finished the book and decided to check out the trailer for the movie and oh man even from the trailer i can tell its nothing like the book!! that is really annoying!

  • it's ok that the movie is different - i hate it when directors follow the book exactly. Anyways, everyone who's read the book knows the genuine story.

  • Oh, by the way... I want to see the Lumberjack so bad xD

  • o geez, ur right, I totally forgot about the lumberjack!! That was one of the funniest (and confusing with a dash of nastiness) parts in the book. Do they actually have it...or did the movie skip?

  • What the f* did they do to the characters? This is awful!

I mean, look at their house, that's a very clean and shinny mess...

And about the 2 girls! Gosh... I dont think they were all pretty like that on the book!

  • aww, the trailer already dissapointed meee ><

  • oop, 4 things. Just had to put that bookman thing.

  • you are so right, Natalie is not supposed to be skinny and pretty, besides she wore dirty clothes and as for what i've seen on the trailer she is not doing that in the movie, wich totally changes the character...

as far as Vicky, what the fuck is wrong with the director?? and about Bookman i think they did a good job, he is supposed to be hairy...

  • yeah that made me mad i wanted her fat! :D

  • three things:

    1. Natalie's not supposed to be skinny and pretty. She's supposed to be chubby fat, and slightly pretty or something like that.

    2. guanjon, that is the whole book. I actually liked it, but the hair gel thing scared the crap out of me.

    3. Where's Vickie? I want the hippie girl!!!!

    4. Bookman's ugly. and hairy.

  • wow this changed alot from a the book but i mean look at the disaster tha is the harry potter movies

  • fuck you.

  • what's that song that ends the trailer, or begins when natalie and augusten are making a 'skylight'? I really like that song. Artist or song name, please.

  • Elton John "Bennie and the Jets"

  • someone know the name of the first musical piece? just before baldwin stop talking, the one with the guitar, or if not the name at least the artist who plays it please.

  • i saw the movie !! ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

  • yeah and the little brother is missing too.... and where's nathan?

  • it could be the same book guanjon, augusten burroghs was gay

  • I read the book yeah it disgusted me ALOT its bizarre. The movie is seems nothing like I imagined on the book.

  • i hate the way they twist a book completely.

  • and why not mention gwenthyn patrow?

  • wtf? this looks nothing like the book. i read a few pages & it was talking about gay sex using hair gel as lubricant & stuff. perhaps theres more then one book called running with scissors(?)

    movie looks fun tho

  • most of the time, all the 'x-rated' stuff, isnt in the promos

  • Try reading the whole book. It helps.

  • it's the same book. that guy was the doctor's son. he's not in the preveiw though

  • I want to see this movie too.

  • I loved the book. I can't wait to see this movie!

  • Comedies don't fair to well at Oscar time...neither do Scifi movies.

  • It looks like the critics don't like it...too bad, because the trailer looks funny.

  • It's not really a comedy. The trailer makes it look that way, but it flips back and forth between super depressing and hilarious.

  • from the first time i saw a preview i knew - this will be an awesome movie!
