  • Could you put goldfish in there

    if so how many

  • where is this?

  • hi, I was thinking to make a koi pond in my garden but I have three cats. Do you know if cats are usually a problem for the fish?

  • Great videos, and good choice in plants. I love aquatic plants.

  • @sneakerhead891 Thanks for the feedback on our videos. Much appreciated.

  • always enjoy watching your videos.

  • @MAD2be1 Always enjoy the feedback!

  • HEH HEH, attack of the koi! lol

  • a pond like this must attract frogs and other critters, are they safe for koi or you need to repell them

  • @iSim0641 Frogs are not a problem. At least our local tree frogs. Bull frogs can be a problem for small koi. We do worry about raccoons and giant fish eating birds!

  • imagine adding salmon :0

  • @AquaticNERD777 Salmon tacos! Yum....

  • @ThePondDigger or baked :)

  • @AquaticNERD777 hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahhahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahhahahah! :D

  • @Randomkom hahaha?

  • you guys should do a video breakdown of one of your dissapearing Waterfalls... those are HOT.

  • @hiPlasma Thanks for the suggestion. I will put that on our list of things to do.

  • how big of a aboveground can u make with a 10ft by 10ft pond liner

  • youve stopped making videos! is it because of the winter? will you start again when winter is over?

  • We have paused for a spell as we moved our business location. We have moved to a bigger and better location and it took time away from shooting video.

We are waiting for spring to shoot our final Waterfall Construction Video BUT we are actually shooting a Solar Pump Video next weekend!

It will air in the spring. We are also in the middle of updating our online store which is taking up a pile of our time.

Rest assured we will be blasting some cool videos in the coming months. Stay tuned!

  • What state are you in?

  • We are based out of Southern California. Where are you located?

  • That graver you used in the waterfall, what is that? it looks so natural and mud like!!!

  • We use a variety of different sized gravel in most of our waterfalls and streams. Dirt from the aquatic plants we don't worry about as it adds to the natural feel.

  • How often do you cycle the water and how do you do it?

  • On most goldfish and koi pond designs you want to cycle the pond water one to two times per hour. We do the cycle with a pump, frequently submerged in a skimmer, pushing the water through filtration and over the waterfall.

We're glad to help you design your system if you need help. Let me know.

I didn't even knoe I could watch videos in high Def. untill now. I am now going to watch all of these videos again in HD because it is so much clearer ! The colours an marks that are in the Rocks is what makes watching it in HD soooooo much better !!!

  • HD Rules, I agree. Heck, I'm gonna watch them all again too! Love your passion!

  • looks like you spend a lot of money for the huge pond...

  • Big money can be spent on even a smaller pond. It's all relative to goals of the homeowner. And the Job of the homeowner! :)

We have large ponds that we have created with small budgets. When planted correctly around landscape of the pond it can look like big money was spent after it all fills in.

We assist many do-it-yourselfer pond enthusiasts create great features on shoe string budgets. Where there is desire and passion, there is a way!

    The Pond Digger

  • Ok I have watched every single video that you have made nd ikm really impressed

  • The Pond Digger, I'm getting a job so I can make a better home for my painted turtle :DDD. Is there any specific thing I may need to include for him? Just to add a side note he is wild and wont eat anything but small goldfish. Do you think if I brought fish or other turtles in the pond would there be any problems??

  • There are several things you will need to make a great environment for your painted turtle. Be sure to watch our Turtle Pond Design Video for some important tips.

Your Painted will become more tame as you get to know each other and you will find that he/she will eat other prepared foods besides goldfish. I have no doubt you will be able to add other turtles and fish into your pond.

Post a video when you start rocking!

  • Do you recommend using a bottom drain? If so which type should i use? Can you make a video of how to install one?

  • We do recommend bottom drains in many of our pond designs. We use the Koi Toilet bottom drains with much success.

We will be shooting video on bottom drain installation but can not give you a time frame at this moment as we have other video shoots planned ahead of it.

  • acutaully i dont i live in las vegas. i have an eastern painted turtle in a cage way to small for him

  • I have a couple Pond Installer buddies that live in Las Vegas. If you want I can connect you up with one of them and I'm sure we can find a home for your painted. Let me know.

  • We might be shooting a bottom drain video next week. If all works out in the shoot & editing we should have it hit YOUTUBE in a week or so.

The bottom drain plumbing on the project is complete so the video's focus will be on making a water tight seal between the liner and the bottom drain.

Good news is we have two different bottom drains on the job and both of them are aerated so it should be and interesting and informative video.

  • excellent pondage I,m puting in a 4'-6' pond is that big enough for fish? if so how deep should the pond be and how many times a day should the whole pond be circulated?

  • hi, i'm planing on having a pond done in my backgarden (i live in england) and i thought about putting gold fish in it, the fish have been in doors for about 5 years. will they be able to cope with the change. thanks, andy

  • Your goldfish will make the transition with ease. One thing to note. Introduce the goldfish to their new environment when the outside temperature is mild. Don't make the move to outside in the dead of winter or the middle of the summer. The move would be best mid spring to early summer. Good luck,

    The Pond Digger

  • do you need to moveout all of the fish into a aquarium if its winter

  • Kollngi you super! Your video is lifted by a mood.

  • Are they all your work? Nice job on the video. The ponds are beautiful. Awesome use of stone ,bolders and plants in the 10 yr. old ecosystem.

  • Yes all of the ponds were installed by my team. Thanks for the comment on the 10 year old eco system. It's one of my personal ponds.

    The Pond Digger

  • 1 question, i have two baby red eared sliders i got them lasts year 2008 they used to eat a lot but now all they want to do is sleep all day whats wrong??

  • What is the temperature that they are at currently? What climate do you live in? When they are cold they slow way down and try to hibernate depending on the environment you are providing for them. If the temperature is warm and they are not acting normal then there are many differen things that could be the matter. I'll watch for your reply and do what I can to help you out!

  • just hand them boys a fishin pole, you know what they'd do with it!

  • Yeah, boys will be boys!

    The Pond Digger

  • you should show a brief shot of filtration systems of these projects, did you build the 10 year old pond?

  • do all these systems have plastic liners, very very nice work

  • Yes all of the ponds and waterfalls in this video have a rubber EPDM liner. Thanks for the compliment and the comment!

    The Pond Digger

  • Very nice set ups and could i have some advice if i had golden orfe and wanted a stream how deep would i need it for them to swim up and down it ?

  • I have never kept Golden Orfes. Here in California they are not legal. The Golden Orfe can get fairly large so I would recommend building a swim stream approximately 16" to 18" in depth for a comfortable swimming area. 10" to 14" depth is cutting it a bit close for comfort. The fish will be very susceptible to getting caught by predators in a shallow depth like that so make the stream wide and give them access to deeper water if possible. Good Luck.

    The Pond Digger

  • im in the uk lol we are alowed them and thanks for advice :)

  • Very nice!

  • Thank you very much!
