The reason Gretzky owned in Edmonton was because it was before the instigator rule and nobody wanted to deal with Semenko or McLelland. Semenko in particular was fucking crazy. Laraque, McSorely, Bonvie...all were Oilers once. I miss those days, when the Battle of Alberta was so intense. The Oilers and Flames genuinely hated each other and it resulted in some awesome hockey. Hockey is so watered down these days, I still love it but the trap and Bettman ruined it somewhat.

i miss the 80's hockey. i grew up watching that. I get tears watching this clip with kevin mcclelland and semenko and the flames. i hear they're talking about banning fights out of the nhl now.
