I love how she makes it so clean and simple. Don't mean to play down on anyone but Alina Cojocaru makes me feel there is so much (too much) going on in this variation. It can be extremely expressive and touching, but I personally prefer Marianela. You can just sit back and enjoy, feel safe with her technique and comforted by the music.

@federicoxxl Cojocaru flawed and mediocre..?! That's an offence,I am sorry. Marianela is one of the best ballerinas around the world,but you can not say Cojocaru is not one of the best,too.
@federicoxxl okay I admire that you adore Marianela as much as I do, but to say that about miss Cojocaru!!!!!! Their interpretations of roles are so different so I think it's unfair to compare them.
I do however, respect your opinion. I admit that if you had compared Marianela with any other ballerina apart from Alina, I would definitely be on your side. I think Marianela AND Alina are the greatest, cleanest ballerinas this world will ever produce.
I have a dvd of her as Lise and Carlos Acosta as Colas in La Fille Mal Gardee and she acts the character so well i watch it so often because it's so technically perfect. there isn't any of her doing this on youtube though, only a little bit in rehearsal i think...
@dancnq99 oh yes, i love the moment when she was just alone in the house, and she imagines herself with three little children... what a great scene that was. she poured so much heart into that. and to this performance too. i love marianela in everything that she do.
Agreed! As I've noted elsewhere, she's got to be one of the most underrated ballerinas. But hopefully that is changing, as RB seems to finally be recognizing that they've had a world class prima sitting right under their nose for the past few years, not just a reliable old second-string principal, the 'cheerful technician.' Marianela stands out in a company full of glittering stars but is only now FINALLY getting to dance roles like 'Giselle' (not only Myrtha) &has the Swan Lake dvd coming out.
If I was at this performance and I heard those ppl talking I'd be really pissed. I's have to tell them to stfu!
But, whoa! She's amazing! I've never really seen her dance before. But I've pre ordered the DVD of Royal Ballet's Swan Lake that's coming out in the fall and I'm very excited. I hear she's an amazing odette.
i adore her! shes without a doubt my favourite dancer. do you know what month or anything else about when the dvd is coming out? i have to have it! :)
