Had the same prob. I changed the keys and it works fine now. Try changing the keys to left shift, z, x, c, and v.

Kinda, I think you can get it more like Guitar Hero with some kind of mod, but I'm not so sure. You play it with your keyboard or you could buy a PS2 adapter, like I did recently, and play with your Guitar Hero controller instead.
