  • @strummeresque oh come on!

  • @martinxo2323 Got a better choice? Remember, I said "Perhaps...."

  • Their very best song, by far!! This one never got the acclaim it deserved. "Too long for radio."

  • @amandaptonyluv Yeah the go betweens did that long intro bit and radio just didn't go for it,such a shame, but we were spoilt for great music back in the 70/80s

  • the intro is too long but this is the best song from the Psychedelic Furs you can ask for.

  • well, @nyomythus is very rude...if you don't have anything nice to say...DON'T say it AT ALL.. one thing everyone should know..and if you plan to argue with me go ahead, but that won't harm me in any way and it won't lead to anywhere.

  • HOLY CRAP.... after finishing & listening to this song...it was.....BEAUTIFUL!!!... Thank you for posting this!!!! :D

  • its played on the movie "basquiat" from 1996....

  • I was stationed in Germany in 1086, found this record in a used German Record store and was blown away by entire album. When the day came. I upgraded to CD! Now I'm listening to the Furs on an MP3 player. They span several generations of technology!

  • "Indiaaaaaahuuuuuuuuuuh" -- stfu!!!! Indisputably their worst song ever omg

  • @nyomythus fuck off they didnt make bad songs you bampot

  • Watched them live again in Manchester after a 30 year gap - brilliant!

  • I always love a band with the confidence to give us a long timely intro before they dig in and start carving up the carcus!

  • lest anyone forget the tremendous brilliance and impact of the Psych Furs...here is a reminder..

  • They sang this one as their last yesterday in their concert in Portugal.. Really damn amazing

  • Timeless brilliance as valid now as it was then from probably one of the best bands .........................EVER!!!

  • Savage lyrics -Butler rules !

  • Hammersmith Palais Xmas 1980 Iggy Pop and the Pyschedelic Furs.. what a gig, what night.. what a band... :)

  • Comment removed

  • Might have been 1985!

  • @fadux1 For your info the first was release by CBS in the UK in -1980-

    cat#: S CBS 84084

  • Superb! Seen them in the glasgow barrowlands in 1983 or 1984. Top top band, timeless stuff....

  • The way he says "India... India..." sounds like "Into your heart... Into your heart..."

I'm sure that was intentional. Richard Butler is the man.

  • no vid great and powerfull song

  • brilliant stuff!!! brings back good memories xxx

  • Yeah good memories.... Such a great song, it still rocks. One of my favourites of the furs.

  • I agree: one of the best!

  • lol India is my background :)

  • From and old USA cycling Cat 1 road cyclist, back in 1980 we traveled and raced to this music. Raced at, by Gods grace, with Tour D France winner, Greg Lemond. This stuff made us go real fast. Saw the Furs warm up for U2 somewhere, sometime, in that other life. Powerful stuff

  • @MrAttilaboytoyou -If there had been any justice in the world, U2 would have been warming up for the Furs.

  • @stephenp1968 Justice in the world, who ya kiddin! I agree 100% though, The Furs still give me a rise

  • THE BEST Furs album ever. One of thier BEST songs. Sold this record at my yard sale..was sad to see it go.

  • im american ha ha ha :-s

  • I first saw PF in 42000 BC as amoebas crawling from the ooze of life, was a great show. Not as well put together, but considering... (how is that for self qualifying statements?)

    @cftb1

The Lyrics are from the perspective of an Imperialistic British man, scoffing at India in a way then accepting it's beauty in the end... It's how the country won over people, it's spirit was too strong to be broken.

  • I first saw the PF in 1981 at the Lyceum in London. The first support band on that night was either 'Thompson Twins' or 'Inner City Unit! But, can anyone explain the meaning behind the lyrics?

  • @cftb1

I saw them in 82 and the support were the "comsat angels" and "flock of seagulls"

  • Ahead of its time in a lot of ways... my first thoughts were, Oh no, I've bought a scratched record.

  • When I first got to Europe, everyway station was playing this stuff. Germany, France, Spain, etc. I had no idea who they were, but, damn, they were popular, and for good reason. So was Robert Palmer. So, I finally asked an English- speaking Spaniard. "Quienes esta?". Ellos son los "Psychodelic Furs". I bought their record in the discount bin at El Rastro in Madrid for 200 pesetas. Best goddamned money i ever spent.

  • Its really hard to find this album. I don't think Richard makes any money from it so that is why.

Greatest Album on the 20th century.

  • Awesome!!!... Love this song.

  • Ever notice the word stupid is used often in Furs tunes lol

  • @Beebelbrox100 they were pissed off at everything, love that concept, even @ 51 years old!

  • this song always sends a shiver up my spine i love it

  • One of the best songs from the band. When I first listened to it, it blew me away and it still does today!!! Richard Butler's voice is just amazing.

  • @ToniMartin77 from and old USA cycling Cat 1 road cyclist, back in 1980 we traveled and raced to this music. Raced at, by Gods grace, with Tour D France winner, Greg Lemond. This stuff made us go real fast. Saw the Furs warm up for U2 somewhere, sometime, in that other life. Powerful stuff

  • @ToniMartin77

blew me away when i first heard it too! 1980 or so.

  • Falling down '08, hah. Anyway, this song sounded a hell of a lot better on vinyl and w/ 19 year old ears. Even on a crappy Emerson stereo.

  • SUPER POWERFUL PIECE !

  • Great song. Thanks Zigg for directing me. I'd only known these from the 'pretty in pink' era. Powerful stuff, wouldn't think it was 1980.

  • oh my god, put on headphones and turn it up. I Feel the wall of sound flooding my senses. The Chugging rolling rhythm section feeding my adhd straight through my viens, and atomic guitars mushrooming the skiy in my skull.

    Thank you FallingDown08!!!

  • @4nom4ly well put, but be careful, God may appear right in front of you..

  • @4nom4ly PERFECT description, best song on a perfect album. Play it LOUD and in the dark

  • @4nom4ly Would you like some fries with that?
