Hi Buddy! Post Mortem is when the players talk about the game after it's finished. Jack and I were discussing a few different courses the game could have taken - and he said he wouldn't have taken the a7 pawn with his queen. How's things going with Fritz, any luck analysing games?
I saw to about Kf8 or thereabouts. My feeling was that there would be enough activity to generate good play, or at least big complications - and in the long, positional run I would have my centre pawns as a plan b. Led to an interesting one anyway! But as I sai din the video, whether we would have found the right moves or not is a whole other story, and pretty unlikely - Fritz is about 300 Elo points stronger than both Jack and me.
I was hoping instinctively that you'd play that rook sac when you started analyzing the bishop or knight to c4 variations. I watch alot of Kingscrushers vids as well, and if you watch his vids, which I think you do, you know how much he loves his exchange sacs. But this vid makes a very good point that those exchange sacs, while flashy, and sometimes powerful, need to be made with deep consideration. I didn't calculate further than Nxe4, which I thought would be more than enough compensation
Hey Sean - What do you mean by 'He said in Post mortum that he wouldnt take the a7 pawn' ? Just wondering :-)

but I should have looked a bit further to Qc7.
Very instructive!

Hi Buddy, thanks for your insightful comments - yes, you're 100% correct. Exchange sacs are lots of fun but they should be used with caution!

That's quite a can of worms you opened up with that rook sac.
