It's not so much that it's "everyone for themselves". ALL the states should take this type of stance to make a point to the Feds. When this country started, it was 13 INDEPENDENT colonies, that banded/agreed together to ensure each of their survival. The 'United States' was more like a contract, an understanding that they needed to help each other fight for freedom, yet still remaining independent. If we were to do this again, I think we could 'reform' the contract as ind. states.
