This album came out when I was in Junior High School. Hip Hop of today is no where near the mid 80's and early 90's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The rappers of today rely on dancing and catch phrases instead of lyrics. They say one catch phrase over, and over through 95% of a song!!!! Listen to Brother Ali. He has a tack called "Second time around" with an artist called Wales. Brother Ali is the cat on the second part of the track. He best describes where Hip Hop is today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Classic, Classic, Classic like yo daddys 1969 Cadilac!! if you played this in your 8 track back in 1965' you would get some ass for sure that night!! haha
Man i'm just sitting here listening to probably one of the top 3 greatest rappers of all time. For real. I'm countin Melle Mel, LL Cool J, and one other (that I can't remember-old age is settin in~LOL~). All the other rappers were good but they didn't do what LL Cool J did and they all imitated LL one way or the other. I still remember when I first heard "Do Wop". This teenage kid was killing lyrics over my father's "old" music. And what type of kid would even know that "old" music?
Whatever happened to creativity. Why are musicians so afraid to be original? I know were in a recession but damn. Is money more important than putting out quality work. Let the listener crossover to you. F*%k the mainstream.
I heard this song a million times when I was younger. Rapping to this 50's style beat is right up Drake's alley. why can't that fool come up with something like this. L.L. was around the same age as Drake when this came out.
my fav line all ways been if you call me a tiger then my stage is my cage.. i rip stomp and crush every medals bands rust LL was hard then a mf.. he haven't sound like this since momma said cd'' but he still is the best nobody can tuch rock the bells the original version''
I was thinking about this jam at work the other day and how rappers don't flow like this no more! They either go extra slow or just don't be talking about anything that makes any kind of since! Peace to those that know and all those just finding out, your here now, bob your head and listen to hip hop in its prime and timelessness!
Always liked this. Older heads understand that doo wop came from the same streets, 20 years before the rise of hip hop. Doo wopers were the b-boys of the 50's. Many of the doo wop kids were gang bangers. Little Anthony's group, The Imperials, was named after their gang.
@Hearlion hahaha me too! I don't know if it made me cool, but I was running around singing like I knew what it was really saying....ha! classic! "Her name was rene her face was ok, but she had the kind of body that made J want to play!"
Youngters, learn about wit and creativity in hip-hop~ this is old school. This isn't sad Lil' Wayne complaining about how he's all ripped apart and his life is a nightmare and oh lordy is me. Kissing daddy on the lips.oh... I been shot..
THIS a panther at the mike with the gift of gab....the gift of gab, something missing today.
Man, what memories I have with this cut. Mom's had to make clean the house on saturday. This was the album I used. This was, is and will always be my favorite joint on this album. REAL MACKISH HIP HOP!!!

Yeah jellyspine12,This is 6000% real hiphop right here. I'm so sick of this new shit they call rap from the last 13 yrs or so. Those fool don't rap nor does the dj scratch or cut, and it is a dmn shame.
I agree completely. This is exactly what I was talking about in my "Lil Wayne Is Garbage" video. New music SUCKS today compared to old school LL, Eric B & Rakim, Too Short, NWA, Public Enemy, even Run DMC!

Nobody likes blacks, but they sure wanna take our music, dance like us, talk like us and so forth, but that's as far as it goes. And it isn't nothing new because that shit all started with Elvis Presley.
Kid's parents didn't like Elvis because they said Elvis was doing black music and dancing black, but he still made a fortune taking rock-n-roll from black people and so did Jerry Lee Lewis and none of them gave blacks any credit or said thank you. Then their wasn't much blacks could do, but many years later you would think we would have say so over hiphop. I know you TrueTalkTV can remember when major record labels wanted nothing to do with our rap music and some radio stations wouldn't play it.
I used to love this song so fuckin much. I used to sing this shit at least 20 times a day. I remember the bass used to BANG through the hallways. Damn I fuckin miss those days. LL needs to go back to spittin like this foreal.
I couldn't agree more. Oh, god... "Happy Days" was absolutely one of my ten favorite sitcoms of all time (ranks at #7 in my personal list). Thanks for bringing back all of those awesome memories!
