I don't know about this. My highscool is playing this for next years marching show. I play trumpet. The music is alrite, but it starts soft and ends soft. What's with that?
BY FAR the best marching show I've ever seen in my opinion. These kids sound like absolute professionals and were extremely artistic in La Rosa...gives me shills every time I listen to it.
-Ryan Curtiss, 2004 Warren Central High School Drum Major
I was a sophomore at LC back in 2004. Although I was never in the Spirit of Central MB, I was in the LC Symphony Orchestra, so I got to hear a lot about the SoC stuff.
I remembered La Rosa being a big deal, since we won Nationals performing it that year. Everyone would talk about it, but only now am I experiencing what all the fuss was about!
I can't believe it took my 7 years to realize just how amazing our marching band was with La Rosa!!
This show is freakin awesome. But what would have made Grand Nats 2004 awesome is a LC & KMHS tie for first. KMHS got 1st in Prelims & Semis and got bumped to 2nd by .4 of a point to LC in Finals. If only they tied! :P
This is by far my absolute favorite marching show...ever...I remember watching this at state - never been so moved at a marching event...LC produces professional sound at an unparalleled level!!
To have the trumpet solo in the Marquez piece for the first movement would have been badass, and I'm pretty sure Blue Devils used the music for the third movement in their '94 show, My Spanish Heart.
no way, aer you Michael Orfiets brother? I am from LC, a trumpet player, but i moved to Mississippi, so a word of advice. It will be heck and sometimes you will want to quite, but you won't know what you have till its gone. Now i am in a stupid 40 person Mississippi band at it is not nearly as much fun, so enjoy the spirit of central and win them another grand Nats!!!
THAT WAS AN AMAZING SHOW! they definently deserverd to win nationals that year, even as hard as that is to say, as they our our rivals, i am from Avon... I will always like that show.
I wish Lawrence Central and the Spirit of Central the best of luck in the 2008 marching band season and hope to see your new show sometime :)

I still pick 01 over this show by a slight margin. But both of the shows are just pure genius.
