I've heard that the track was pretty fast that day. Many races were much quicker than normal. The other two horses are sprinters so no wonder they were done after 3/4s. Margin of victory was to be expected after the other two ran each other into the ground. If anything she should be praised for the ease with which she won. Too many people simply look at margin of victory and think she's outrunning horses who still have gas in the tank.

Belmont was far faster on this day than when Ruffian won it.

Also, Ruffian was never past by any horse at any call in her entire 19 race career, sans for the call after she tragically broke her leg.

I would love to see the two of them (at their best) go head to head at a classic distance of 1 1/'4 miles. I would set the ML at Rachel Alaxandra 2/5 and Ruffian at even money because of the distance.

At a flat one turn mile or less, Rachel would never get within two lengths.

Looking at the You Tube of both races (Ruffian and RA) it is clear to me that neither horse was ridden out. Ruffian was probably ridden less vigorously. So the time alone tells us very little.

Well i guess it falls to me to defend the Greatest Filly of all time, Ruffian. RA did not break Ruffians record since Ruffian ran this race at Aquaduct not Belmont. Two entirely diferent race tracks. Also Ruffian had to run around 2 turns not just one in this Belmont version of the Mother Goose. Also you might want to check the times on other races run at Belmont that day. I hear they are all very very fast. There is no need to diss Ruffian, since this is not the same race Ruffian ran.

RA is great,BUT she's not in Ruffian's league.Who knows what Ruffian would have did if she didn't break down.Also Genuine Risk,who placed in all 3 triple crown races.I believe if she runs in the Woodward and wins,she'll be second only to Ruffian.

Not critizing Jackson. He is a very smart man. He didn't get wealthy by listening to gullible people. He knows Rachel odds of beating Zen is not very good but he can still hype Rachel and command big bucks when she becomes a broodmare. My prediction..no race against Zenyatta and Rachel will be reitred at the end of year.

IT SO HILARIOUS that a bunch of you are predicting Rachel beating Zen. First, Jackson already ducked Zenyatta at the breeders. Then when he heard that Zen might ship east to run on Rachels backyard, he says he wants a full field or probably no go. Now how many horses will want to run agains Zenyatta and this hype Rachel on that race? Never happen. Jackson will avoid Z at all cost. He will cherry pick another run at the boys but he will avoid Z for the rest of this year.

It is now november and Zenyatta has travelled as far as.... Del Mar. Gee 80 miles WOW. All her career she raced at home on a secerely biased track. When will the world realize they've been bamboozled.

RA has set 5 new records in 4 graded stakes: Golden Rod (new time record), Martha Washington (new time record), Kentucky Oaks (new winning margin record), Mother Goose (new time record - FASTER than Ruffian) (new winning margin record- previously held by Ruffian). She was also the only horse in Preakness history to win from the far outside position. She usually speeds up on her own (without the whip.) How fast would she be if asked? Still young, what will she be like when she matures? AMAZING!
