Just saw M.J. at Yoshi's in San Fran last night. He was solo acoustic - it was excellent to say the least. I'm always baffled when I see a singer-songwriter playing songs that seem so simple but there's something very special there that reaches the audience and affects them profoundly. Its a unique gift this man has.
On a side note, does anyone else get a Bruce Springsteen / Roy Orbison feel when listening to "The Field" or "City of Ghosts"? Kind of that Americana, 50s rock vibe? am I nuts?
I came across Mason Jennings by chance; what a great artist. If he comes to London, I'll get tickets. I really enjoyed this video too - if Nick Drake had made a video I imagine it would look a a bit like Pittsburgh/Sing Out. Jason DS, London
This is well done. I just saw him and his band in Portland, sort of promoting the new Album and it rocked. He played some "classics" and also a good mix from "Blood of Man". I didn't have the CD at the time, but it is a great artist that can make you love the song at first sound. I vividly remember "The Field" and "Blood of Man" even though I had never heard them before. I remember his face.
well said reefdog, i coulnd't agree more -- mason sure has tremendous songwriting talent. looking forward to hearing the new stuff, just got e-mail today that my copy has shipped!
I like the concept for the album -- looking forward to this release.
Nice short... great introduction to this album. It is always nice to see an artist write, perform, and produce their own work. These albums always provide a nice balance to most of the other stuff you listen to these days.
wow wow wow. this album looks like its going to be soo great. at first when i heard that the album was leaning to the rock side i was skeptical, because i love masons picking and strumming. but this sounds so incredible. mason is such a genuine artist whos whole heart goes into his work, and i think this new album is going to blow us away
Great Inspiration. Its true that we don't take time to realize the world around us, taking the one breath where no has any say on your life. Thats what matters the most Thanks Mason
Blood of man is hovering above the chair I am sitting in and then blowing out of the ceiling of this room and flying over the roof of my house toward the mountains to the north and setting down on the lone cloud above them.
Please continue to follow your instincts Mason it sounds like your best yet. The album seems like the rock album I always knew you could make since hearing godless or you cover Bulls on parade. Reminds me of Tom Petty or Jackson browne even for some reason. Love the preview cant wait until it is available
Pittsburgh is probably my favorite song on this album.

This is an amazing look into a very human, very creative process. The animation just knocks my socks off. I can't wait to hear it all.

Typical Mason Jennings being completely awesome and original. My only complaint is that he will not have a concert in Minnesota! Haha
