You know, it's fun to read these comments and watch the Far-Right Patriots battle with the Foreigners who hate The United States (NOT america, america refers to all of the continents on the western hemisphere). The US has done some stupid things, I will admit. And contrary to the Far-Right's belief, we are NOT the greatest country on earth. There's no place I'd rather live, and I'm relatively well-traveled. It's definitely a matter of opinion, but to me this is the greatest country on earth. You can try to enforce proper definitions of words, but the first google hit for "America" is the wikipedia page for the United States, and most of the successive links refer to this country, so obviously that's it's most common use.
Another ironic thing is that while the majority of the world tries to prove that the US is evil, stupid, etc. the single constant in world policy is that the US needs to solve other peoples problems.

You know, it's fun to read these comments and watch the Far-Right Patriots battle with the Foreigners who hate The United States (NOT america, america refers to all of the continents on the western hemisphere). The US has done some stupid things, I will admit. And contrary to the Far-Right's belief, we are NOT the greatest country on earth. There's no place I'd rather live, and I'm relatively well-traveled. It's definitely a matter of opinion, but to me this is the greatest country on earth. You can try to enforce proper definitions of words, but the first google hit for "America" is the wikipedia page for the United States, and most of the successive links refer to this country, so obviously that's it's most common use.

Start with War is a Racket by Major Gen Smedley Butler and then after that you can read Addicted to War by Joel Andreas. But part of the history of United States has been filled with the idea of Manifest Destiny. An idea that was filling the thoughts of christians to take all the land west of the Appalacian Mountains and Mississippi river. Natives forced from their homes and seeking a war for covering the fact of land grabbing.

This because the US refused to donate money to the Tunisian ruler of that period. A great documentary on History about that 'war' ^^... But still, on to your point, at that time that part of the US was free and inhabited by savages (according to the Americans back then). These cartoons are quite good because they aren't really propaganda cartoons discrediting various politicians , but instead shows a rather convenient truth in life in the west these days.
The writers were rather open minded which is a good sign. Since 9/11 the worst thing to happen to you Americans is the fact that you became close far more close minded which not only caused wars(People easily believed Bush about Iraq) but also made you loose some of your best traits as a nation.
