To put it plainly, Sheik = Zelda. Definitely a girl. She changes her skin, eye and hair color for this alternate form; it kept her hidden from Ganon when she was a child. (The people she was hiding with were these colors naturally.) It's one of her magical abilities.I forgot the name of the race they are, but they were Hyrule's greatest warriors until they were betrayed by some of the kingdom's former rulers. Now they all wear the symbol of the crying eye on their breastplates.
