Quien le dijo a esta gente que esto es ritmo colombiano.. no digo que ustedes no sepan bailar eso no es lo que digo peor mi vida mas boricua esto no puede ser.. nada en contra de la Colombia linda solo una nota
@SPADES6o6 ok. Sure if you're talking about the roots of Salsa as a musical genre, a blend of cuban and african rhythms came to new york and when the cuban embargo took place, the puerto ricans in new york took the lead on developing the genre...Salsa music now has sources from all over; I am sure you're familiar with Joe Arroyo and Sonora Carruseles, both colombian. I was, however, specifically referring to style of dance when i said Colombian, Salsa caleña.
@SPADES6o6 On1, On 2, Casino, caleña, Miami, Mambo, New York, LA, some styles are synonymous with others and some are combinations of others. Cuban salsa being mainly casino, puerto rican encompasses the on 2/on 1 track family. Miami style is what happens when On 1 dancers decide they want to dance casino, cuz in Miami, Cuba is just not that cool anymore. So yes, salsa is also Colombian, but it's also a whole bunch more....
Hey, this is a great video but you should really change the name of the title because it is misleading to people who want to see different styles of salsa represented accurately. This is salsa caleña*** from cali, colombia..not puerto rican
@Ani900 Umm, it clearly says "Puerto Rican salsa DANCERS" not Puerto Rican salsa dancers dancing to Puerto Rican salsa. So its not really misleading in any form it didn't specified where the salsa was from. So I think they know what they are dancing to.
Dancing with the stars ain't got nothing on this couple, they are awesome dancers. I really like that they move so fast yet so smooth. Very talented dancers.
I feel you all need to check yourselves, try to understand the reality of the world you live in. try understanding how the rest of the world looks at all Latinos / Hispanics ….be proud of your culture represent it well……and try making us all proud to say we are all a good and beautiful people.

@MnlAK0 (Aug. 26) -- The lone survivor of the massacre of 72 people at a ranch in northern Mexico told officials that they were all migrants from South and Central America and that they were shot to death by members of the Zetas drug cartel.
@MnlAK0 "This act confirms that criminal organizations are looking to kidnapping and extortion because they are going through a difficult time obtaining resources and recruiting people willingly," the Mexico's government security spokesman, Alejandro Poire, said at a news conference Wednesday.
Ecuadorean citizen Luis Freddy Lala Pomavilla rests at a hospital in Matamoros, eastern Mexico, on Tuesday. A Mexican drug cartel massacred 72 Central and South American migrants within 100 miles of the U.S. border they were trying to reach, according to Lala Pomavilla, who escaped.
@MnlAK0 The bodies of 72 men and women who were allegedly killed by the Zetas drug gang are seen inside an abandoned warehouse in the town of San Fernando, just 100 miles from the Mexican border with the U.S. near the city of Matamoros, Mexico.
All those killed -- 58 men and 14 women -- were believed to have been trying to make their way across the border into Texas, less than 100 miles away from the ranch in San Fernando where the bodies were discovered Tuesday.
The cost of harboring illegal immigrants in the United States is a staggering $113 billion a year -- an average of $1,117 for every “native-headed” household in America -- according to a study conducted by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).
The single largest cost to the government of illegal immigration, according to the report, is an estimated $52 billion spent on schooling the children of illegals. “Nearly all those costs are absorbed by state and local governments,’ the report states.
In Texas, for example, the additional cost of immigration,
@MnlAK0 $16.4 billion, is equal to the state’s current budget deficit; in California the additional cost of illegal immigration, $21.8 billion, is $8 billion more than the state’s current budget deficit of $13.8 billion; and in New York, the $6.8 billion deficit is roughly two-thirds the $9.5 billion yearly cost of its illegal population, according to Jack Martin, the researcher who completed the study.

Pero ustedes ni para fertilizar una tierra con sus cadaveres sirven.
@MnlAK0 One of the many legacies of the civil conflicts of the 1980's in Central America has been an increased flow of migrants north from those once war- ravaged lands. Now it's the region's sagging economies and the area's heavy dependence on money from the United States that keeps the flow coming. Migrants who make the journey north from Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala often face many obstacles.
@MnlAK0 Those who make the journey illegally often risk robbery, rape, even murder at the hands of vicious gangs that patrol the Mexican border... and an increased official presence at the "other border" between Mexico and Guatemala has done little to stem the tide of what some call the "kamikazes of poverty."
@MnlAK0 Though the Commonwealth government has its own tax laws, Puerto Ricans are also required to pay most U.S. federal taxes, with the major exception being the federal personal income tax. In 2009, Puerto Rico paid $3.742 billion into the US Treasury.[93] Residents of Puerto Rico pay into Social Security, and are thus eligible for Social Security benefits upon retirement.
@MnlAK0 Over 1,225 Puerto Ricans have died while serving the United States. The names of those who perished in combat are inscribed in "El Monumento de la Recordación" (Monument of Remembrance), which was unveiled on May 19, 1996, and is situated in front of the Capitol Building in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
@MnlAK0 General William W. Harris was quoted in the Puerto Rico Herald as saying, "No ethnic group has greater pride in itself and its heritage then the Puerto Rican people. Nor have I encountered any that can be more dedicated and zealous in support of the democratic principles for which the United States stands. Many Puerto Ricans have fought to the death to uphold them".
@MnlAK0 Pendejo el welfare como tu dice eso pertenese a mi jente por el sacrificio que hisimo protegiendo la libetad en USA y el mundo. @MnlAK0 Smuggler tried to hide $140,000 drug stash in nacho cheese. Customs and Border officials nabbed a 21-year-old Mexican citizen this week on suspicion of smuggling $140,000 worth of methamphetamine in these three cans of liquid nacho cheese and jalapenos, the LA Times reports. Incredibly, this is not the first time nacho cheese has been used as a smuggling tool. In October, a customs officials found 7 pounds of meth hidden in nacho cheese cans, NPR reports.

These couple are very fast and good dancers but Fast Salsa is only from Colombia? The singer is Puerto Rican Hector La Voe.
I have seen that fast style in black and white movies but can't recall the name. But I know Puerto Rican Style is with slower and more maneuvers together, not so much Free Style and fast kicks. They like turning together instead of kicking and moving hips fast and furious. Like Cubans they like flow, not just fast and furious. It is not a Salsa Speed Competition they say
I agree. These dancers are great but not Puerto Rican. They are Colombian and they dance the Caleño style. Someon should post their name so they can receive the credit they deserve.
Soy DE PUERTO RICO Y yo se que esto Es Caleno. Los puerto Riqueños que dicen que esto es de puerto rico NO Saben La Musica!! Un estupido que no es Puerto Riqueño dijo lo que no Era!
This is colombian style. Notice how the male doesn't move his shoulders. Puerto Rican and Cubans move there shoulders. Making them more fluid and expressive. The colombian style is a "dance school friendly" style. Neither style is bad. But there is only 1 Puerto Rican salsa. Huge difference.
Estos son caleños a mucho honor!!! Aparte esto me siento muy orgullosa de ser latina sea de donde sea y no peleemos por tontadas, nosotros los latinos somo famosos por nuestra alegria, entonces??
I love the way they dance salsa and I am from Puerto Rico, I know lots of puerto rican do not dance like that . I love their style , make me dance without stopping
They are amazing indeed. I'm no dancer, no critic, but my personal opinion is that when "Dancing" has so much aerobics and speed involved, with no accentuation on 1. the grace and 2. rythmic flow through the body, 3. or has a hypnotic effect that stimulates the audience and makes their bodies move too rather than merely watching..... To me it shouldn't be termed Dancing anymore.
I am sorry to tell everyone but this is not Puertorican Style!! this is Colombiam Cali style. two very different styles and whoever know about Salsa knows exactly what I am talking about. I love both styles and love Puerto rico but this is Cali puro Cali!!!!
the dancers might be from Puerto Rico but the style is pure Caleno style. Congratulations to the dancers you dance beatiful.
@suntzu05 Thats I always say bro...it does not matter where u are coming from... u have to learn how to dance. not ur country is gonna teach u. do u understand?? ppl from colombia say that they know how to dance because they are from colombia or other countries. but first u have to spend hundredsss of hours then make up ur country. viva la salsa.
im puerto rican and i cant dance salsa nor do i know the difference between cuban salsa, columbian or puerto rican all i know is these people killed it. Que viva la rasa latina!!!!!!!!!!
Definitely Cali Style!! I'm a Professional Salsa Dancer from PR and I can Guarantee anyone this is Cali Colombia Style... I don't know if these two guys are from PR and are dancing Colombian style but us Puertoricans don't dance like this.
to educate you all, Salsa was made by Newyorikans, they fused the mamo and cha-cha-cha rythm, makin it faster but in better harmony and more PRican heat, all this came from my Taino and African dicendents, there are diffrent styles even in Puerto Rico, we have, SALSA,QUEMA-QUEMA, BOMBA, PLENA, its natural that other latin american countries want to add their spice to what a group of NewYoricans reeinvented, ive lived in many states, and ive seen, black, white asian, even indians dancing salsa!
can't we just all get along and enjoy the culture? without the different cultures in the mix, we wouldn't have such a melting pot of rich spanish culture (different styles of music) be it from Honduras, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad, St Vincent, Barbados Belize, Brazil etc. And anyways we all owe it to Africa. for without the african slave trade, we wouldn't be introduced to BOMBA, SAMBA, PUNTA, TAMBORES, and other african influenced music!!!
I WANNA START OF SAYING THAT VIDEO IS A PUERTO RICAN SALSA SCHOOL TRUST ME THE OWNER TO THAT SCHOOL IS LIKE MY FATHER THE MALE DANCER IS MY BOY COQII HES COLOMBIAN WE ALL HAVE DIFFERENT SALSA BUT SALSA FIRST CAME FROM CUBA IT WAS DIFFERENT PUERTO RICANS SPICE IT UP MADE THE BEAT FASTER SMOOTHER SO WE HAVE OUR OWN SALSA CALLED SALSA ON 2 NO NEED TO HATE ON PUERTO RICANS WE ARE JUST TALENTED
yup def caleño style salsa....look it up...all footwork here...something caleños are known for...if they are P.R. then i tip my hat to them for pulling it off nicely...u dont really see Ricans dancing fast like this, they focus more on spins...
This is colombian style salsa... I really believe that it doesn't matter where you're from, as long as you love dancing and get instructed in the proper techniques for good execution, you can dance whatever you want!!! These performers are AMAZING! And the hating between colombian or puertorrican is pure BS! Both styles have their uniqueness and level of difficulty and both are amazing to watch. So, in other words, just dance, but do it right!
Pureto Ricans are not a shame...?? Just listen to the minute 2:00 The announcer clearly said, from CALI, COLOMBIA. Busted!!! I would be embarrassed! Trying to deceive people!!!
...but as far as I know ricans where the first ones dancing like this. No hating, aqui nadie es mejor que nadie, BUT FOR ONES MI GENTE GIVE CREDIT WHERE IT'S DUE!
@casoquia Wooww even if you think they're the first, well I'm sorry But I'm half Puerto Rican and Colombian it is sad!!! it is sad!!! that I know the Differences both of salsa.Because you know why?? my dad is Puerto Rican and My mom is Colombiana who was born in Cali,Colombia.Who I pick the best?? COLOMBIA BABYYYY ALL THE WAYY!!!They have the best moves with the mix of cumbia and I grew up with my mother side and in love with the Colombian Salsa.Sorry for you but I'm blessed. Thanks Mom :)
@rickysalsa...good insult...I guess...by the way I love colombian salsa! I'm not gonna hate, they have some really good stuff, BUT I think ricans don't get the recognition they should when it comes to this genre of music, wich is in my words...if puerto rico would of never existed salsa would have not either... PLAIN AND SIMPLE. rickysalsa I'm pretty sure you might know alot more about salsa than I do, but trust me I know a lot, and I LOVE IT!it's #1this style may be popular in cali...
i think they dance with otto y su melao a colombian dance team...i had the plesure to meet them... but casoquia i dont know if u r puertorican or not but u should read a little more story b4 posting it....there were many more before Roberto Rohena, including his uncle anibal vazquez who taught roberto everything he knows who us dancers owe a lot to.
here is a video so u can learn here you ....a video
The only thing with this style salsa ( salsa de cali ) is that in order for it to look like it does in this video ( awesome ) the song has to be break neck fast....... think about it and do your research..... the tempo of the song really matters...... if you slow it down....... it wouldnt look as strong....
Its funny because if you are a advance salsa dancer from either Colombia or Puerto Rico you could tell the different styles very easy. Colombian salsa is more choreographed, different footwork, lifts and very few turns where Puerto Rican salsa involve a greater difficulty combinations in turns, freestyle, shines very few lifts and dips and they dance on 1 or 2 which are the original salsa foot steps. A lot of props to Colombians for this style.
...listen colombians get down with the salsa, BUT with PUERTORICO in the picture...there would be no SALSA!!!...the first person that ever really thru down with this kind of salsa is ROBERTO ROENA check out the videos! an this is back in the 60's an 70's. salsa is world wide today, and even the mexican wich for the most part hate ricans love it....with out cuba and for the most part boricuas there would be no salsa...you can deny it, but DEEP DOWN INSIDE Y'ALL KNOW IT THE VERY TRUTH!!!:)))))
@casoquia Crap puerto ricans are the no.1 stealer of music from latin america. - Reggaeton from panama hijacked by Puerto Rican. Son Cubano hijacked by Puerto Ricans rebrand as salsa because of political reasons and marketing just to make money cause they have access to the latino market in the USA. If u wanna steal, its ok, but please give credit to it original sources.
Reggeaton may have started in Panama, but the influence was stolen (or borrowed) from the Jamaican culture (gee, I guess you failed to point that out). In this time of age everybody either steals or borrow ideas no matter what genre music, and with that said I'm sure everybody knows it's true source of origin. We live in a world of oppurtunity...if someone doesn't expose what they have...someone else will...doesn't matter what country it is...just how the world works.
@AfroMalaya Puerto Ricans may not have invented these styles of music, but they definitely had a huge impact on these genres. U can argue that they have brought many of these forms of music to global audiences. And if U really want to take it back to there there roots, then u should start with Africa, but u cant discount the Taino, and European influences. So really these genres have many mothers, and fathers.
If the people dancing read these posts I wanted to tell u guys that I LOOOOOVE this video. I watch it like 2 times a day... you both are something special...
))))) WEEEEPAAA ((((((( i'm coming to NEw York just to watch u guys dance in person... Please announce ur performances... I would like to bring my kids to see too. Break it down!!!!!
Pureto Ricans are not a shame...?? Just listen to the minute 2:00 The announcer clearly said, from CALI, COLOMBIA. Busted!!! I would be embarrassed! Trying to deceive people!!!
Its awesome being a Puerto Rican you can come in summer and go to Guavate if you want fun and dancing or San Juan for a romantic diner or date. Caguas to be surprized of how they mixed nature and civilization. and lots more!!
esta es claramente salsa calena. yo la mire tres segundos y se ve ya desde el principio lo que es. los puertorros no la hacen asi. que cada cual se mantenga a su estilo y respete la manera en que los demas lo hacen.
Puerto Ricans can dance it all. :))

Ani900 1 month ago
@Ani900 Umm, it clearly says "Puerto Rican salsa DANCERS" not Puerto Rican salsa dancers dancing to Puerto Rican salsa. So its not really misleading in any form it didn't specified where the salsa was from. So I think they know what they are dancing to.

The cost of harboring illegal immigrants in the United States is a staggering $113 billion a year -- an average of $1,117 for every “native-headed” household in America -- according to a study conducted by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR).
loveangel71 2 months ago
@MnlAK0
The single largest cost to the government of illegal immigration, according to the report, is an estimated $52 billion spent on schooling the children of illegals. “Nearly all those costs are absorbed by state and local governments,’ the report states.
In Texas, for example, the additional cost of immigration,
loveangel71 2 months ago
@MnlAK0 $16.4 billion, is equal to the state’s current budget deficit; in California the additional cost of illegal immigration, $21.8 billion, is $8 billion more than the state’s current budget deficit of $13.8 billion; and in New York, the $6.8 billion deficit is roughly two-thirds the $9.5 billion yearly cost of its illegal population, according to Jack Martin, the researcher who completed the study.

@MnlAK0 One of the many legacies of the civil conflicts of the 1980's in Central America has been an increased flow of migrants north from those once war- ravaged lands. Now it's the region's sagging economies and the area's heavy dependence on money from the United States that keeps the flow coming. Migrants who make the journey north from Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Guatemala often face many obstacles.
loveangel71 2 months ago

@MnlAK0 General William W. Harris was quoted in the Puerto Rico Herald as saying, "No ethnic group has greater pride in itself and its heritage then the Puerto Rican people.
CFITOMAHAWK 4 months ago
Yeah, this is not puerto rican style salsa, and the reason they dance so fast and good is because this is caleño style salsa from Colombia.

To me it shouldn't be termed Dancing anymore.

to educate you all, Salsa was made by Newyorikans, they fused the mamo and cha-cha-cha rythm, makin it faster but in better harmony and more PRican heat, all this came from my Taino and African dicendents, there are diffrent styles even in Puerto Rico, we have, SALSA,QUEMA-QUEMA, BOMBA, PLENA, its natural that other latin american countries want to add their spice to what a group of NewYoricans reeinvented, ive lived in many states, and ive seen, black, white asian, even indians dancing salsa!

can't we just all get along and enjoy the culture? without the different cultures in the mix, we wouldn't have such a melting pot of rich spanish culture (different styles of music) be it from Honduras, Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Haiti, Jamaica, Trinidad, St Vincent, Barbados Belize, Brazil etc. And anyways we all owe it to Africa. for without the african slave trade, we wouldn't be introduced to BOMBA, SAMBA, PUNTA, TAMBORES, and other african influenced music!!!

A lot of props to Colombians for this style.

correction***WITH OUT PUERTORICO IN THE PICTURE
casoquia 1 year ago
...listen colombians get down with the salsa, BUT with PUERTORICO in the picture...there would be no SALSA!!!...the first person that ever really thru down with this kind of salsa is ROBERTO ROENA check out the videos! an this is back in the 60's an 70's. salsa is world wide today, and even the mexican wich for the most part hate ricans love it....with out cuba and for the most part boricuas there would be no salsa...you can deny it, but DEEP DOWN INSIDE Y'ALL KNOW IT THE VERY TRUTH!!!:)))))

@AfroMalaya
