  • marilyn monroe was a sure thing and all the guy wanted to talk about was toothpaste

  • if i died i would love to meet her <3 RIP

  • Also, she played a "dumb blonde" in 'How to Marry a Millionaire', but it showed her comedy skills. The woman is freakin' hilarious.

  • was that all? I thought she should be posing to cameras or something :P

  • @21pinupgirl you are so right!!!

  • when i die and i say there is a heaven... wouldn't it be great to meet her;L

  • Pamela Anderson sent me here...

  • lucky basterd :))!

  • Those day they had

    Audrey Hepburn, Marilyn Monroe

    These days

    Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian

Oh how I wish we had people like Audrey and Marilyn

  • Okay, maybe she hated playing dumb blondes...but it is hot that the scene insinuates she's soaked.

  • Those of you who are talking like Marilyn was trash and a dumb blonde, you obviously know NOTHING about her. She hated playing dumb blondes, she was sick and tired of it. If you actually watch one of the many films in which she did not play a dumb blonde(Don't Bother to Knock, Niagra, River of No Return, etc.), she was actually a very talented woman. People like you are the same reason she was looked upon as nothing but a dumb girl, they judged her by one scene in a movie. Do your research.

  • @21pinupgirl oh its stylised? i thought she was just generally a wooden actress XD (btw this isn't sarcasm)

  • *giggles* I love Marilyn!

  • That scene made her a star..

  • @nikla102 Nah, she was a huge star 2 years before The Seven Year Itch when Niagara and Gentlemen Prefer Blondes were released in 1953. This scene turned her into a myth.

  • Marilyn... that acting was so 40's Hahahaha^_^ ... forgive her she's an old women D:

but that's honestly not how i pictured the scene at all :o ... i was picturing MEN not Man walking by and Ladies gasping at her for her "inapropriate manner" Lmao^_^

  • WHY Marilyn's male co-stars are so bad-looking???

  • @mimimarcus Hmmm. Cary Grant in Monkey Business is handsome in that old fashioned way. But when George Axelrod wrote the play of 'Itch', he purposely wrote the male character as an American 'everyman' - to represent 50s male desire. And to leave the audience guessing - will the average looking man get the impossibly good looking girl? If he was gorgeous there would be no tease. In the play, he finally 'gets' her. But 50s screen censorship would not allow it. So he goes to his wife instead.

  • 00:00 the very beginning looks like Micheal Jackson's thriller!

  • I thought she was a better actor than that... then again, they weren't that educated in acting back then. She's still beautiful.

  • @KaylaKatt33 Maybe take a look at Don't Bother to Knock, Niagara, Bus Stop and The Misfits for Marilyn's acting. The character she played here really didn't require much character development. She wasn't even given a name! Known as The Girl. Even though the film is known for Monroe, it is really about the man and she's not in it that much!! But please judge Marilyn on more than a 2 min vid. Even in the strict studio system where actors were encouraged into typecasting, Marilyn showed promise.

  • I love her of course the picture that came from this isn't her greatest, some people love it so much I've found a lot because it's the only one they know. I LOVE Marilyn. Just thought I'd say that

  • skaaaaaank.

  • @herpderpmonkey WTF? She's acting, you idiot.

  • @GagaIsAMonster I'm pretty confident that your devotion to gaga in your name has a lot to do with your outrage at me. Lady Gaga is a crazy bitch skank too btw.

  • @herpderpmonkey Umm, no. This has nothing to do with Lady Gaga. You're just being a judgemental ass.

  • @GagaIsAMonster Shut up skank worshiper.

  • @herpderpmonkey No, I'd rather not....

  • @GagaIsAMonster Why can't we be friends... why can't we be friends? .. marilyn or any other skank would've wanted it this way*-*... lmao jk but really it's just an old clip to show us modern kids or People that .. Oral hygene is very important HaHaHa jk

  • shockmansion!

  • Alright... if my skirt just flew up and my date saw my lady parts i would not be so chill about it. lol. Still, Marilyn is a beautiful actress and very talented in show business

  • i know flies were blown up into her coochie . #tragic .

  • The film that proves Marilyn was an underated comic.Great film and she really looks her best.

  • 240p we meet again!

  • KittehHawk...I did the same thing!!!

  • Although Marilyn is wearing an extremely elegant white skirt, I am not completely in awe of this scene.I respect women enough not to eyeball them when their skirts go flying up to their waists!

It is in my opinion distasteful to look up any woman's skirt, regardless of whether it's full length or a miniskirt.

  • How did I get here from 'Fatal Lion Attack'?

  • @KittehHawk LMAO i know right?

  • @KittehHawk lol..

  • @KittehHawk I don't know. But you sure got lucky!!!

  • i understand some people dont get it, they are so used to wach naced chics on the internet and get that as easey as just that, used waching girls ore woman with no calss and all that

this was the 1950´s look at her beauty her classyness ser duck looking face hehe and so innocent and just standing there having her skirt blowing up... if you have the making of you see it gooing above her head and you could see trough her panties . you must understand the times and essence of monroe

  • @Dion89live WELL SPOKEN!

  • Not a single jumpcut from a different angle!

  • @IfElephantsCouldFly Exactly! I know movies back then didnt use many jumpcuts, but this entire scene is an unartistic one-take. And the writing in this scene isn't very memorable. This scene is just a white-dressed, Marilyn fantasy for some guys...

  • Bad Acting Lmao

  • i'm sorry but she wasn't all that and a bag of chips!

  • @coolcindy1 it's "The Seven Year Itch"

  • What movie is this?

  • wow.......im disappointed...

  • she sounds stupid!

  • @coolfann1 she doesnt sound stupid, her voice is just very high-pitched

  • I had a marylin doll when I was younger with her iconic dress .. too bad Idk where it is lol .

  • She's so beautiful ♥

  • Was that an advert for "dazzle dent toothpaste"... Hollywood movies lol, even in those days they were doing product placement...

  • @dirtydawg661 Ouch. Please watch the movie - this is no product placement but part of the story.... The movie is absolutely funny and very ironic. Not oldfashioned at all.

  • @fahrzeit1 ahk, I probably should watch it before commenting, thanks for the reply...

  • @synjerome you're right, it was kind of a disappointment

  • her voice is so fake....

  • @karenaime93 Her real speaking voice was a bit deeper it's true but she didn't speak like this in all her films, just a handful when it was appropriate for the character. She did have a naturally breathy voice which is in stark contrast to most American women who sound very nasally. Check this out for Marilyn's normal speaking voice (Skip to 0:56 for a clearer sound:

    watch?v=Y5s4M5Kx6yI

  • PEACE & LOVE

  • 2:02 jealousy ¬¬

  • how innocent some of those movies were compared to some of today's trash wow.

  • Why is she so famous and popular, she seems like a moron to me

  • @EB88 So, you're judging her private personality on a character she is playing in a film??! You don't really think Christian Bale IS Batman, do you? No, of course not! Well, guess what? That same logic that I have just given you applies to Marilyn and hey, all actors too! Sorry to sound so sarcastic but your comment is remarkably dumb. If you are a kid though, then no worries. But you have learned something today: Actors do not possess the same personality as the characters they portray!

  • @theblazingangel I admit I haven't seen any of her movies, just this clip. But it appears she played the type of character that sent out a message to young girls that people, and men specifically, prefer you to be sexually stimulating over intellectually stimulating, so she was a moron in my eyes and helped screw up my generation. But hey, maybe she was playing a brilliant scientist, or a political activist. Maybe in real life she was an artist, and philanthropist. You tell me.

  • @EB88 you missed her whole being then. And surprise surprise......men do still prefer sexy women.

  • @TheHotplant Very well said. ;)

  • @EB88 The private Marilyn was quite different to her screen image. She was a lover of the arts: theatre, museums, galleries and was a total bookworm! - poetry, philosophy and psychoanalysis were favourites. She was shy and sensitive and was quite insecure but was strong enough to survive in Hollywood and stand up to 20th Century Fox .Before judging her, get to know the REAL person behind the very famous public image.

  • @theblazingangel I read somewhere that her iq was 160

  • @TheTazzietiger Because to become the biggest star in the world is practically impossible to achieve. You need a lot of savvy and connections. Unsurprisingly, she was quite the charmer! In interviews, she clearly is a deep thinker; her childhood dictated so. She just looked so carefree, people bought the act despite the turmoil inside. When you watch Marilyn on screen it is truly the actor at work because she was nothing like her screen image.

  • @TheTazzietiger I don't know about her IQ. Jayne Mansfield made that claim about herself. Marilyn wasn't well educated by the school system but later in life she became an avid reader and was constantly seeking to advance herself. But people who knew her (friends and particularly directors Josh Logan and Henry Hathaway) said she was naturally intelligent with 'street' smarts. And anyone who gets to the top in the dog eat dog world of Hollywood and STAYS at the top is no dummy in my eyes.

  • @EB88 Thanks for your comment back. Her roles were more varied than you think: A psychotic babysitter, a model, a killer, a showgirl, a desperate mother. And men have and will ALWAYS sexualise women. Nothing will change there. Marilyn is just so famous you seem to have heaped a whole load of negativity onto her but blame society!

  • :)

  • just saw some like it hot in film class the other day and monroes character was next level entertaining. definatly gota watch all the other monroe movies

  • "you feel the breeze from the subway? Isnt it delicious?"

    What a dirty girl.

  • Marilyn Monroe est sublime ! :D

  • The reason this actually became so iconic wasn't only because of how the scene was portrayed in the movie, how some of u are saying you dont understand why this is so iconic when its so underplayed - but because during the filming of the scene, a big crowd was watching the scene be filmed, and the scene had to be refilmed multiple times. It caused a crowd to watch her skirt repeatedly fly up and people were taking pictures of it. So, THAT is why it was so iconic.

  • @amyNcharlie interesting! thanks for sharing that :)

  • woah here comes another one....LOL :)

  • like, if you're dad watching TCM, brought u here

  • What is she looking at?

  • is her hair grey?

  • jesus, what is everybody complaining about? the studio obviously took the still photos of this & used them to promote the film heavily. i don't think anybody ever claimed this scene was special in any way.

  • @WikeddTung stop sucking on bush's cock

  • i think the photograph was what made the scene

  • I dont care what anyone says this IS iconic! Marilyn Monroe was is and will always be beasty! love u marilyn! ;D

  • *Cough*

  • This movie was ruined by the fucking Hays code.

  • Ooh do u feel the breeze from the subway...isnt it delicious?

    :-)))

  • "I feel so sorry for you in those hot pants!"

  • @Bighugeford She said TIGHT pants not HOT pants

  • To the young people with no historical perspective, go to an archive or library somewhere and check out what women in the 40's-50's typically wore outdoors. Even the most conservative modern womens' clothing would have been scandalous to them. The exposure of Monroe's legs in this scene was considered absolutely *shocking* by the standards of its day. It was the equivalent of Janet's "wardrobe malfunction", only more obviously planned and MUCH MORE outrageous.

  • @nfinn42 Actually, it was common for women in the 30's, 40's, and 50's to wear shorts that barely covered their behinds. Only skirts were considered revealing when knee-length or shorter. This scene was only scandalous because the idea of a woman showing her underwear in public and having no embarrassment about it was considered obscene. And it wasn't this footage of Marilyn's legs that was controversial, it was the promo footage of her dress flying over her hips.

  • I've seen Creature From The Black Lagoon!

  • I don't understand how this is iconic. It seemed pretty damn lame to me.

  • It's like, I can't even watch this with a straight face, because prior to seeing this (this is my first time), I would say the same thing as I passed over subway grates myself, and my mother would laugh. Now I know why.

  • I love Merilyn. Let the god will have you in his care.

  • @magdalenka869 Not necessarily in the best way either. I think the entertainment business pretty much treated her like dirt. Pretty much exploited her ,and made a ton of money off of her sex appeal. The entertainment industry still exploits the hell out of their stars. However, Marilyn will forever be the most beautiful woman to have graced the earth. She was such an intelligent, aware woman, and she deserved to live a long life, she could have done such great things. She Deserved much better!

  • This scene is the most iconic thing in my life. When its windy I always pretend my skirt is blowing. BTW im a guy.

  • @synjerome agree

  • The scene isn't as iconic as pop culture portrays it to be.

  • @synjerome I'm a HUGE Marilyn fan, but I kind of agree with your comment. It is important to note that this scene kind of changed the history of cinema, as far as sex. She did a nude calendar back in 1949. Once she became more popular (1950-1952) people started to notice a resemblance. The studio told her to lie. To say that it wasn't her. She said in her last interview that she did ,and thought that it should be said. So she said she did. Another critical move. So I say she was revolutionary.

  • @synjerome Not many iconic movie scenes are very iconic on their own. Its' the pop culture references that make them that way.

  • @synjerome That's because the censors would not allow director Billy Wilder to let Marilyn's dress rise too high and even this full scene wasn't allowed at the time. The dialogue where Marilyn talks about his 'hot pants' was cut. The posters were not governed by the film censors so they are more eye catching. If you look at the black and white footage of Marilyn preparing for it, it is actually a lot more dazzling as they went full steam ahead! 50s censorship was very strict.

  • @synjerome That's because they cut out the real scene (that they use in the pictures you see) and they did it over. The real scene caused her and her husband to get a divorce... Big fan lol

  • @synjerome shure, for people who live under a rock lool

  • @synjerome That's because you're uncultured.

  • I FEEL SO BAD FOR YOU IN THOSE HAWT PANTZ.

  • That fucking guy wants to cum on her god damn ankles.

  • she reminds me of snow white

  • I'm the 299,000th view. :3

  • if i had a time machine, id take my mom with me in a ride bk 2 the yr marilyn was born so i'd make her adopt her and save her of having 2 sleep with men 2 get a job :'(

  • why is this sceen so symbolic? i dont find anything special

  • Torpedo Boobs! ;)

  • A Classic!!

  • and i got in trouble for accidentally 'panty flashing' in preschool, and yet she goes around showing people her undies xD

  • 4.3 million dollar dress.

  • This scene is so underwhelming when compared to that iconic photograph.

  • @JacobFlores2 Most of the footage couldn't make the movie due to crowd noise :/.

  • Don't you wish you had a skirt?

  • what a ditz.

  • hahaha i love how this was considered risque at the time.

  • Her famous sence! I love Herr-3

  • Of only she was still here:(

  • @sabarsk0rp10n if she was she would be old and flabby as hell u sick fuk

  • @narutofreakdbz1 wow calm down, Marilyn Monroe just happens to be an american icon and I'm certain a lot of her fans would want her back since she died relatively young. I know this is the internet, but not everything has sexual connotations, "u sick fuk".

  • @EssTheGee well im sure she was happy she died young she looks like the type that would hate her miserable life if she got old

  • does anyone know what the background music is in this scene? classic

  • Loot at those boobs. They're epic!

  • isn't it a dress??

  • I expected more skirt-flying. And more legs.

Thankfully she's even lovelier than I imagined.

  • free cunt ventilation

  • who is that asshole who disliked this vid???? u serious are not worthy to live

  • @vishbush thats kinda harsh over a movie

  • @robertparkersmu no i dint mean to be rude... its just that this scene is like epic famous... thats why... and its so hard so dislike.. and also sooo many movies have revolved around this one famous scene...

  • this is the scene that made Joe DiMaggio so angry and reportedly led to their divorce
