  • I don't care what those 2 dudes from South Park said; Phil Collins RULES!

  • Flat ass beatin' the skins! You go Phil!

  • That whole gig was epic, would love to have been there.

  • @stickypool Saw them in '87. Hell of a show. Collins wore nothing but a T-shirt and sweatpants. Guy was ready to work that night, and he did. They were a great foursome, and played some really cool spins on Clapton's stuff.

  • orgasmic

  • @deariza Eargasmic!

  • sick

  • Clapton one of the best guitar players ever only few people that were better are Joe Walsh...

Phil Collins maybe one of the best vocals ever , maybe the only better is Bob Seger...

  • Crockett & Tubbs ....going to the deal thru Miami

  • Philllllllllllllllllll !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • WAS PHIL PLAYING THE PIANO IN THE BEGINING OF THIS VIDEO - I COULD NT TELL Ô¿Ô

  • @ACEOO80 No

  • damn wish i were at that concert but unfortunately i wasn't born at that time....one on the best songs ever..played by some of the best musicians in the history of the earth

  • This was good, but I prefer Stuermer.

  • @KillBloodRaven Never!!! Phill FTW!!!! :P

  • these were just Fastastic 4 !!

  • This is absolutely great song, I've heard Phil singing this live in Helsinki

  • good.. that is epic....

  • good... that is epic......

  • Damn! Phil was kickin some serious ass on those drums

  • Birmingham was never the same after this concert, for sure.

  • ive never seen Phil with so much energy before

    damn what a performance

  • Fire!!!!!! He spilled his guts out! You gotta feel that performance.

  • These guys are having the time of their lives here!!!! Awesome! If only I could go back to 86 and see it live :-( Oh well I can dream cant I?

  • My god, Clapton from 3:50-4:00 sounds godlike!

  • All I can say is that this video is freaking AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • thats right everybody phil collins is a drummer always was he drummed for genisis and then eric clapton picked him up and he actually is an awesome drummer and of course singer too

  • So much talent on one stage. Collins & Clapton are both brilliant in their own right, but Greg Phillinganes & Nathan East are two excellent pros who certainly deserve much more credit. For so many years, East has played in studio & on tour for both Collins & Clapton, while Phillinganes' keyboard & voice has been heard on some of the most popular songs of all time, playing for the likes of Michael Jackson & Stevie Wonder. The way he sings harmony here with Phil is an absolute CLASSIC!!

  • what's the year of this concert? :)

  • @saszer20 86

  • @saszer20 ....1989 !!

  • Eric Clapton on guitar, Phil Collins on drums... couldn't get any better... AWESOME!!!

  • just awesome

  • this is SURELY one of the best music performances that I have ever seen in this f******* universe!!!!

And the lyrics are perfect, full of emotions.

Phil Collins has got a very powerful voice, and his drumming, it´s simply fantastic, more than that, it´s incredible!!!

I don´t find the right words how many power and talent I see & hear in this video!

Especially ment for Phil Collins! But for Eric Clapton too!

Phil Collins is the King of Drums!!!

    Thumbs up if you agree!

  • @zatzi87 Second best, I agree that this is awesome and I do love Claptons music, and you probably can't begin to compare the two bands but Pink Floyd "Delecate Sound of Thunder" has to be the greatest Live preformance ever, and if anyone hasn't heard the aalbum then... well you've missed something very powerful... Just my opinion...

  • WWWWOOOWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Amazing!!!!!!!

  • Awesome..... Legendary Concert.

  • where can i go to get the entire concert on cd or dvd (preferably cd)

  • i watched this years ago on TV and still today all I can think after is ... Oh F***.

    Amazing.

  • woah this totally blew me away

    best drummer in the world

    AMAZING

  • why name it eric clapton and friends if your playing the song sung by phil collins...???

  • @tate930rs .... because the name of the show was Eric Clapton and friends, in which Phil performed only one of his own song to attribute to the show.

  • love this song even more now and you ROCK ON PHIL!!!

  • incrediable GARY!

  • Both musicians are extremely talented!!!!

  • Extraordinary. Amazing. This might just be the best live song ever played. Though I think one's even better - look up the In The Air Tonight he played on his Farewell Tour. It will give you the chills, no kidding. Imo it's even better than this one and that one's already f*cking great.

  • Fell in love with Eric Clapton in this concert, and for Phil that is amazing, must be hard to sing and play like that!

  • @GodsAssistant : not for Phil, though... Just look at the stuff he does with Genesis!!

  • moar liek Phil Colins and friends

But imo, Eric Clapton is more talented.

  • when those drums kicks in it is like an atomic bomb that much power it has. amaing

  • Best part of this song. "Well I know why you keep your silence up. No you don't fool me. See the hurt doesn't show. But the pain still grows. It's not stranger to you an me. (Drums!) Very emotional, and drums really help bring that out after those lyrics.

  • for me a best version of in the air tonight by phil i love it

  • Drums....Amazing!!!

  • best ever seen.

    lincon

  • Awsome guitar by clapton in this song, he kept side by side in perfect harmony with phill collins during the end...Amazing sound.

  • @KungFuKid1015

I couldn't agree with you more.

Clapton did an excellent job sustaining Collins all the way in this act. Starting from 4:08 it's just breath-taking.

    Amazing! Simply amazing!

  • bravissimo... peccato che c'e' Clapton che rompe un pò i coglioni con sto bendings.....

  • Outstanding drums at 3:10

  • Ya that's what it's known for!

  • the drumming he does on this is very average when you listen to him on cinema show or stagnation...

  • that's not what it's about man,, If you play Cinema Show to someone on the streets, they won't know what it is. If you play the break from In The Air to someone, 9 out of 10 will probably know it,, that's the magic of this song. ( I do prefer Cinema Show as a drummer myself but this breaks are pretty damn hard to do right with kickdrum etc. all at the right spot...

  • I love so much this song, this singer Mr Philip Collins...his voice, his way to sing...to play drum(a very trade mak!) and when I do listen in to him, I feel better. and yes it's truly phenomenal because it's very very difficult to sing and play drum at the same time. There are few moments when he does both these things with closed eyes! Sorry for my english.Ciao

  • I knew Collins was great, but this truly shows how talented he really is. I got shivers from watching this performance. It is truly phenomenal.

  • how do you explain two of his band-mates then if he is racist i dont think he would be on stage with Greg Phillinganes and Nathan East

  • Never mind Clapton. Collins doesn't get enough credit for this gig. That was just awesome stuff, vocals and drumming were first class. Amazing stuff Phil!

  • Drumming and singing is virtually impossible

  • What? Drumming and singing is very simple for a coordinated musician, my friend can do it and he's in a crappy garage band.

  • Amazing song!!!

  • shhh i love this part

  • he wrote that song because he saw a murder and sang it and got the bloke arested on stage when he invited him up

  • No, he wrote it, because when he returned home from some tour, he caught his wife cheating him. That's why he looks so angry while he sing it.

  • That is an urban legend. I challenge you to show me actual evidence that it happened.

  • phill is so awesome...

he even gets to draw attention off of eric or nathan

  • I hate how when people see this song and go "Oh thts the songs from the Cadburys advert haha"

  • Same man it pisses me off!! And now i've replied to your comment, when my friends see it they will think i have bad taste for watching the cadbury advert thing which was "so last year!" Lmao

  • doo doop, doo doop, do dop, d dop, dop do i love it

  • I started watching this video not expecting much, but wow... that was a great performance.

HIs live vocals sound awesome too.

  • To jest muza cool :)!!!:**

  • what supergroup

  • his voice... *sigh* cant describe with the words

  • 1:36 makes me laugh every time.

It is also an amazing performance.

  • That drum rythm hits you like a freight train inside every time

  • You got that right. haha I love the opening notes from the drums. Epic beat. Freaking amazing performance. Phil was really feeling it. haha

  • one of the greatest performances ever!!!

  • Absolutely makes me want to go to a Phil Collins concert right now. That guy is an amazing performer. And Eric Clapton & Friends shows are always great.

  • Greatest Phil Collins Concert EVER

  • In fact it isn't really his concert.

It is from Eric Clapton, Greg Phillinganes, Nathan East and Phil Collins.

But the song is from Phil Collins. And I like it a lot xD

  • When was this concert? Feels just like 1984 anyway. *sweet shivers*

  • sublime

  • what a fucking performence/duo. i am listing to this for a second time!

  • 4:48 is fucking awesome!!

  • Love it!!! Eric thanks to you for the extra guitar sounds!

Normally I listen to the normal version on DVD.

  • Greg Phillinganes = Good

    Nathan East = Great

    Phil Collins = Superb

    Eric Clapton = Best Ever!

  • @Pillowmania00 yes i agree lol

  • @Pillowmania00 so to say it but i cant believe your saying that eric clapton is best ever in tthis video listen to the strength and passion in phil collins i mean yeah eric clapton is straight up the best guuitarist but refering to this video phil collins is out of this world

  • Awesome!!!

  • I love this song, I love Phil Collins, his performance in this particular video is incredible, and Erick Clapton plays pretty good in this version too!! Amazing!!

  • ahh imagine ur in a convertible, in a hot city on a empty highway, at night listenin to this all alone, ahh that is so nice :P

  • Nahh...You got a rogue cop partner next to you with a submachine gun and you're driving a Ferrari Daytona to go pwn some drug-lords....NO THAT would be so nice.

  • @husooo92

That has been done on a TV show in the 80's... called Miami Vice.

  • @husooo92 i have just imagine that...GREATT!!! LOL :))

  • wow that was really mind blowing

  • this was 1985!

  • no, i think 1986

  • mama mama mama :|:|

  • one of the best versions is at live aid 1985

  • One of the coolest moments in tv was this song in 'Miami Vice.' I still get chills hearing it. Phil plays and sings the hell out of it.

  • You hit the nail. I also remember this form Miami Vice. I am born 1980. Remember when I watched that scene was one of the coolest thing I saw at that age and have to admit still get chills hearing it also. Couldn't beleive that another person has the same experience. Cheers!

  • The Cadbury Gorilla is wicked drumming to this!!!

  • One of the best live versions of a song that you will ever here !

  • this song carries a huge load of emotions probably the best live version

  • that guy is a musician right there! drums piano and sings like a master!

  • phil's awesome on drums. and i love this song

  • Stop hating you fags,

jus coz you have no musical talent you whinging pussys,

    This is wicked

  • chills when phil sings

  • Wow. Phil's voice just gives my tingles all over, it's so awesome!

    FUCKING AWESOME!

  • Phil definitely is one talented man ... fabulous on drums, great voice ... What a talented group of friends, eh? :) Definitely 5 stars for this one!

  • 3.10 rocks my socks off...it's too bad phil didnt eric lay a nice little guitar solo

  • I dont think thats bad, i see it as respect for Phil

  • pepsirockstar and aznedvin are both right: that guitar looks to be one of the very first ('88)Clapton Signature Series Fenders. The first ones were made with Lace Sensor pickups, which look distinctive because the pole pieces don't poke up through the plastic pickup covers. Only a few made between '88 and 2001 survive: after that they've all been made with Vintage Noiseless pups.

I love the early Clapton Sig's electronics. My workhorse Fender is almost identical, minus the name & resale value.

  • amazing

  • sweet

  • wow =) so amazing... thx

  • Actually that's not blackie. That's a charcoal grey strat adn blackie is...well, black. I do know for a fact that this concert was in 1986 and blackie was retired in 1985 because like all strats the neck eventually came loose in it's pocket.

  • that is true (i think its a repo but i could be wrong)

  • FILIPPO SEI GRANDE !!!

  • Got the DVD of this concert and its offit

  • YES! it´s awesome! and the best Ensemble i´ve ever seen!

  • Great video..Thx for posting.

  • I've got this one on video but I have also seen it on DVD at my local Wal-mart. They also have another performance on DVD "Eric Clapton live at Montrox" with the same line up and almost the same song list as "Eric Clapton and friends". Hope that helps.

  • Awesome, this is one of my all time favorite concerts, I used to have it on video, does anyone know where I can find a complete copy?

  • This Is Kick Ass The Drums Are Awesome And Clapton And Greg Add A Good Atmosphere To Other Important Parts

  • 21 years ago and it still seems brand new...it's also just as brilliant as the day it was performed.

  • This is one of the better versions, I think anyway. Less use of the vocoder.

  • ah god there's no fking keyboard player better than Greg Phillinganes!

  • Yes he has that voice yet, check his last tour, he sang that song and was so good as this one. Phil is still te best! Then & now

  • Where did that voice go?????? He does not have it anymore:(

  • This was played in England on clapton's 86' tour. In the states I think we got a drum solo from him instead of in the air. At least that is what I remember when I saw this tour. Clapton I think is very lame on this song.

  • WIN!

  • that's awesome man not very many people can sing and keep incredible time drumming

  • the best song ever, and the BEST VERSION ever!!! You rock Collins :-)

  • bealtiful voice

  • First of all: Phil Collins is a great songwriter/singer, this song is very good aswell and I like it a lot.

Except, wat happened at 1:36? Hehe... For a moment there he sounded like a drunk Russian trying to sing.

"So you can whipe off that 'krin'." :D

  • Is this on video somewhere??

  • What a feeling! Simply I love it!

  • In the air tonight with eric clapton !!! woooo amazing , incredible,no words , wonderful tonight and excelent concert

  • phil is like wicked hot...and I don't think I can say that about anyone else who has a mullet

  • I was there, awesome !!

  • Same! one of the best moments of my life

  • Was this Birmingham? I wasn't there but had a copy on videotape. The player eventually "ate" it thru overuse so great to see it again.

  • Sorry, woops moment, answered in "layla" comments.
