You should never assume that "contemporary morality" is of a higher morality than that of another age or culture. One obvious failure in your 'argument' is that you make the presumption that contemporary morality is synonymous with Western morals or the lack of them - this is a common error that westerners make, whose own personal morality is either poor or absent, so to attempt to justify their licenciousness, and "liberty to engage in sin", they attack the Bible which convicts them of Sin.
It would be more honest of you to admit that you are in rebellion against God and his standards, than to attempt to impose your claimed "morality" as a measure to compare to God's or that of his dealings in ancient Israel. What proof have you, that "contemporary morality" is more moral than that shown in God's dealings with ancient Israel?
Seems like you have a problem with obeying God! Pretending that men invented God so God copied man's morality in ancient Israel is a totally failed argument, as it is inconsistent with the Bible itself, historically, prophetically and theologically. While you may argue that you can "invent your own god" and your god's morality, it is impossible to invent prophecy that was fulfilled beyond the ability of men to fulfill it.
What you're pointing out is that the "god" of the bible doesn't meet the definition of the Supreme Being found in the ontological proof of the existence of God. Yes, the ontological proof shows that God exists, but it also proves that God is not the "god' of the bible. That's why Christian philosophers such as Aquinas didn't accept the ontological proof. They knew the danger. Even as early as the Gnostics people knew that the biblical god was not God. The rabbis now try to reinterpret, but it's.
Heaven is a place of only pure divine beauty. Not one bit of sin is allowed in the kingdom of heaven. The sins that required death are supposed to be cleansed from the soul by offering a sacrifice to God. The law was put in place to show how no person could be perfect before God and a perfect law. Only he that is without sin should throw the first stone , and that would have been God. In the New Testament, instead of offering a sacrifice, Jesus was the sacrifice, because he was actually the first that led a sinless life.
Your comments about the OT are great for directing at Christians or Karaite Jews, but they totally ignore the traditional Orthodox Jewish understanding of the Biblical text. One quick example: "hand" in Hebrew is sometimes an idiom for strength or support. The Talmudic Sages explain that the woman having her "hand" cut off referred to a cutting off of a certain monetary value assured to her as part of marital rights. Jesus came not to judge but to save the lost. also the sins in the old testament are still wrong today the only difference is Jesus came to die for OUR sins not his, Jesus was FREE OF SIN. You should never assume that "contemporary morality" is of a higher morality than that of another age or culture. One obvious failure in your 'argument' is that you make the presumption that contemporary morality is synonymous with Western morals or the lack of them - this is a common error that westerners make, whose own personal morality is either poor or absent, so to attempt to justify their licenciousness, and "liberty to engage in sin", they attack the Bible which convicts them of Sin.

Pretending that men invented God so God copied man's morality in ancient Israel is a totally failed argument, as it is inconsistent with the Bible itself, historically, prophetically and theologically. Yes, the ontological proof shows that God exists, but it also proves that God is not the "god' of the bible. That's why Christian philosophers such as Aquinas didn't accept the ontological proof. It wasnt like he enjoyed it. He had to wait until the appointed time. Basically, perfection was necessary. They were his people and they had to live perfectly under his law. They had to be the most holy bloodline in order to be worthy enough to birth the perfect man. He couldnt go easy, because everybody else essentially worshipped the same false gods, and were very convincing (like evolution).
After the death, forgiveness was allowed. He didnt have to scare people straight anymore.

Slaves were only to be kept for 6 years, then freed. Furthermore, it wasnt abusive slavery. They worked for room and board.

The sins that required death are supposed to be cleansed from the soul by offering a sacrifice to God. The law was put in place to show how no person could be perfect before God and a perfect law. Only he that is without sin should throw the first stone , and that would have been God. In the New Testament, instead of offering a sacrifice, Jesus was the sacrifice, because he was actually the first that led a sinless life.

One quick example: "hand" in Hebrew is sometimes an idiom for strength or support. The Talmudic Sages explain that the woman having her "hand" cut off referred to a cutting off of a certain monetary value assured to her as part of marital rights. A christian probably won't agree with that because he thinks that: the stake of carrying out God's plan of salvation was so high that it was OK to kill some people in case there was no way to do otherwise. Though interesting is that was there really no other way to make people keep certain God's laws than killing some of 'em? And was it really impossible for God for example to frighten foreign nations out of Canaan instead of letting them being killed by jews?

He ussually maliciously causes suffering for the most egocentric reasons. This is very different from making decisions regarding life, death and suffering in order to enlighten or provide some other metaphysical benefit to humanity. But on that note, Im not impressed God keeps promises, especially when most of those promises involve harming innocent people or rewarding cruel behaviour. And no its not 'just right'. Also in many of the instances where he commits these acts he does so malicoulsly and assigns guilt to the innocent party. I realise we dont agree on what constitutes 'innocent' and 'guilty' but Im just pointing out my objection isnt just realated to God killing ppl

I agree very few people are innocent but I think vegans who'v never deliberatly harmed or caused suffering to anyone would at least be undeserving of eternal and excruciating torture. Afterall what could they have done to deserve that? Also thats a difficult question to answer since Im dont no off anyone who was allegedly sent to hell, even the Bible doesnt give insight into who's actually been to hell.

Jesus came not to judge but to save the lost. also the sins in the old testament are still wrong today the only difference is Jesus came to die for OUR sins not his, Jesus was FREE OF SIN. "The ultimate sacrifice" so to speak. In the old testament you would have to sacrifice certain animals for certain sins but nowadys since Jesus has "died" for us:died is past tense so if happend thousands of years ago are sins have already been taken care of. We don't have tobe worried about catching on fire

I want you to explain to me why Jesus stopped the woman from being stoned by saying "Let those without sin cast the first stone" So obviously, the old testament laws weren't exactly correct and Christ had to come into the world to correct the wrongs...I find it funny that you actually read the bible ZJ. Why would any non-believer want to read it. It's our human nature to be curious, to find truths, to seek knowledge that contains reasonable logic and views not only from our own perception but also that of others.
