No they dont. They have avg attendance of about 7,000. The coyotes have average attendance around 13,000. You may be retarded, but even you could figure out the coyotes attendance is higher.

hard to make a case that there are true fans for hockey in Phoenix when the only way you sell out your games is to lower ticket prices by as much 200 bucks and then follow up that game with another home game with attendance just below 7000. That building was completely dead last night
This worked sorta while Gretzky was a coach (at first, before we realized he sucked at coaching), but they really need a great player to lead the team. I really dont think they necesarily have to win the cup, just dont suck, especially at home games.
Then more people will go to the stadium, and you can charge more for advertising, compensating for the lowered ticket income. Also, give away more t-shirts, advertise around more, get bars to show their games, and, most importantly, WIN GAMES! These are all great ways to spread Coyotes fever, and get people excited for Coyote hockey. Another great way would be to get a superstar. Doan is great, but the coyotes need a player that makes fans want to watch games
Wait a while, Phoenix is a new and young city, and most current adult residents moved here, and find it difficult to part with their hometown team. They sell out for every Red Wings, Blackhawks and Penguins games, which evidences my point. Wait for the new generation of current teens, who were raised in AZ, and the fan base will grow.
Also, the Coyotes need to continue doing what they did for the season opener, make tickets cheaper, so more people will come.

they didnt leave Winnipeg for attendance. They consistently sold their building out. They left Winnipeg because it was a small market and they couldnt compete with growing operating costs in the league. The Cnadian dollar was very week at the time and there was no revenue sharing in the league ffor the smaller teams. It had nothing to do with attendance

They were hurting for lack of corporate sponsorship, Teams like Edmonton and Calgary were small market teams. It was growing more expensive to operate in the NHL, especially with a much weaker canadian dollar Thats why they struggled, and teams like Quebec and Winnipeg failed. It had nothing to do with attendance.
Much weaker canadian dollar? Winnipeg had some of the lowest attendance rates in the NHL in 1989-1996, with avg. attendance at about 12,000, and when they moved to Phoenix it went up to about 15,000
WInnipeg's arena had a capacity of only 15,000 in a small canadian city, where as Phoenix has an arena that seats over 18000 in a city three times the size of Winnipeg. Even a much smaller arena, the attendance was never a reason for their struggles. It was a small market, with no corporate sponsorship, and in age when the Canadian dollar wasnt as valuable, and the American one being rapidly on the rise, there was no way they could compete financially. Nothing to do with attendace
Arena size is irrelevant, if they were getting enough interest, they would have built a new arena. And their avg. attendance was around 12,000, so whether they had an arena of 15,000 or 15 million would be insignificant, as they wouldnt fill it either way.
The same goes for your obsession with corporate sponsorships; they couldnt sponsor them because there wasnt enough interest in the team.
And yes, Phoenix is larger than any canadian city besides toronto, which means a lower % of people have to like the game to support the team. And btw, Phoenix is roughly 5 times bigger, with a pop. of about 5.3 mil, and Winnipeg's around 700k.
Watch the world juniors coming up soon and you will see the support that there should be for an NHL team. I seen your videos of the lack of fans in Phoenix and no offense but it's a shame to see the lack of support in an NHL team. We give more support for our Saskatoon Blades (a minor league hockey team) than you do for the coyotes an NHL team. I see that some of you guys have a passion, and that is awesome, but it has to be more than just some people with a passion for the game.
If the Coyotes stay then you guys better start supporting your team. I would rather have them stay in Phoenix than move to Winnipeg, or Hamilton, but just don't forget the heart of hockey land where the children bring their own shovels to clear off the out door community rinks, play hockey on the street (street hockey), they make rinks in their own back yards, these people live in Saskatchewan. Saskatoon has the perfect facility for an NHL team, and litteraly 20 X the support of Phoenix.

There is passion for the team here. in a city of over 3 million, there are more than a couple hundred supporters. When they first came they were selling out every game. Sure, you can say that they have not sold out a game in a while, but a few years back you couldn't give Cards tickets away, now their selling out every game. Success changes alot of things in regards to team support.
they were selling out because it was a novelty. Novelty's wear off. Hockey isnt a novelty in Canada. Its life. It will never be in Phoenix. Dipping attendance numbers is expected when a team is losing but not when their winning. Even when they were seriously in the playoff race last year the attendance got poorer and poorer. Coyotes are a great team, but even if they leave phoenix, another team will return. And where was that production with us? Jokinen didn't exactly have the greatest support in Florida either. Blaming our youth on Jokinen's play is just pathetic. Mueller is barely finishing his 2nd year in the league and you'd rather blame him than a guy who CLEARLY underperformed for us? Jokinen was supposed to be the "#1 Center" to play with Doan and help us reach the playoffs. Instead, we got a half-assed effort from him 40 percent of the time.
I also can't forget to mention the fact that our coaching staff has too much of a laid back mentality aka "country-club mentality" If we really want to get to the playoffs, we need a coach who knows different offensive and defensive systems and not "schemes" like Gretzky. Great players dont necessarily make great coaches.
cant agree with you more ive pretty much had enough of gretzky. last year he had the team workin hard every game it was great to see, this year theres no system its just run around and not score. all this year our pp has been terrible and i remember he used to put fedoruk and carcillo on it and it drove me crazy. and jokinen just couldnt fit in with all this youth i dont blame him, no one could set him up for goals. 75% of the goals he scored was him makin plays himself

Im from Niagara Falls ONT Canada and this has been my team since i started watching hockey. They were the Jets then moved, but I followed them and never stopped watching a game. Channel 415 (FS Arizona).... I LOVE this team, sooo much heart! They will make the playoffs this year!. Lets Go Yotes!
I have supported the Club since its days in Winnipeg and have continued to support it long after its relocation. Ive made my piece with Winnipeg losing its Hockey Club. But I have to say that Phoenix was never an ideal choice for a Hockey Club. They have a beautiful, relatively new Stadium, and no one goes there. Like the Vancouver Grizzlies Basketball Club, they havent exactly competed for the end of year honours, and that certainly hurt the efforts to grow the support base.
The Colorado Avalanche won the Stanley Cup in their first year, continued to excel, and it came as no surprise that their support base is as strong as any in the League. Success on the ice, floor, or pitch breeds monetary success. Sadly, the inverse is also true, and Phoenix has seen far more of the later than the former. This year, they are in the midst of their best year in several, and the Arizona Cardinals make it to the Super Bowl.
Thanks for supporting the coyotes back in canada man! i have always loved the coyotes since then momved down to phoenix, and the statum isnt empty at all! its atleast 85% full at most games, and with the new amazing statium they wont be going anywhere for awile.
and to top it off, there are teams doing way worse than the coyotes, take the florida marlins, have you seen their attendance? what about the nashvill predators, or the new york islanders and the LA kings, or the toronto blue jays and the rapters, and theres still more, but im to lazy to name them
Phoenix has a very competitive and crowded sports market. Their baseball, basketball, and football teams are all very successful teams and it is imparitive for the Coyotes to have a good season this year to survive financially. Although, their hockey team could be the weak link and will die off if poor attendence continues. I'm from Canada and like the concept of hockey in Phoenix, and I'm a fan of the Coyotes, but if they can't fill the building with a good team then they'll be relocated.
To all thoose old school hockey fans, that are upset with teams a little bit more south than Canada, please stop nagging! If you actually mean that hockey only should be played in cities with frost and snow you are no hockey lover. I think its great that cities with a fragile hockey culture get the oppurtunity to see worlds greatest game and have their own team!
To make a great and interesting hockey franchise in the middle of the desert,its nothing more than a great achievement!

They left Winnipeg because it was a small market and they couldnt compete with growing operating costs in the league. The Cnadian dollar was very week at the time and there was no revenue sharing in the league ffor the smaller teams. It had nothing to do with attendance

They were hurting for lack of corporate sponsorship, Teams like Edmonton and Calgary were small market teams. It was growing more expensive to operate in the NHL, especially with a much weaker canadian dollar Thats why they struggled, and teams like Quebec and Winnipeg failed. WInnipeg's arena had a capacity of only 15,000 in a small canadian city, where as Phoenix has an arena that seats over 18000 in a city three times the size of Winnipeg. Even a much smaller arena, the attendance was never a reason for their struggles. It was a small market, with no corporate sponsorship, and in age when the Canadian dollar wasnt as valuable, and the American one being rapidly on the rise, there was no way they could compete financially. Arena size is irrelevant, if they were getting enough interest, they would have built a new arena. And their avg. attendance was around 12,000, so whether they had an arena of 15,000 or 15 million would be insignificant, as they wouldnt fill it either way.

And yes, Phoenix is larger than any canadian city besides toronto, which means a lower % of people have to like the game to support the team. And btw, Phoenix is roughly 5 times bigger, with a pop. of about 5.3 mil, and Winnipeg's around 700k.

Watch the world juniors coming up soon and you will see the support that there should be for an NHL team. I seen your videos of the lack of fans in Phoenix and no offense but it's a shame to see the lack of support in an NHL team. We give more support for our Saskatoon Blades (a minor league hockey team) than you do for the coyotes an NHL team. I see that some of you guys have a passion, and that is awesome, but it has to be more than just some people with a passion for the game.

If the Coyotes stay then you guys better start supporting your team. I would rather have them stay in Phoenix than move to Winnipeg, or Hamilton, but just don't forget the heart of hockey land where the children bring their own shovels to clear off the out door community rinks, play hockey on the street (street hockey), they make rinks in their own back yards, these people live in Saskatchewan. Saskatoon has the perfect facility for an NHL team, and litteraly 20 X the support of Phoenix.

they have supporters but not enough for a hockey team. The fact is hockey is a REGIONAL sport, with very few exceptions and Phoenix isnt one of them. I d rather have the cities that lost their teams in the first place get them back where there was passion for the team. THere isnt passion for the Coyotes. Maybe a couple hundred but the city of Phoenix doesnt care about them the way that Winnipeg cared about the Jets, or Quebec City about the Nords

There is passion for the team here. in a city of over 3 million, there are more than a couple hundred supporters. When they first came they were selling out every game. Sure, you can say that they have not sold out a game in a while, but a few years back you couldn't give Cards tickets away, now their selling out every game. they were selling out because it was a novelty. Novelty's wear off. Hockey isnt a novelty in Canada. Its life. It will never be in Phoenix. Dipping attendance numbers is expected when a team is losing but not when their winning. Even when they were seriously in the playoff race last year the attendance got poorer and poorer. Even with losing, Toronto always sells out. So did Winnipeg, and Quebec. Losing seasons didnt matter.

I am a die hard hockey fan and the Phoenix Coyotes are my faveorite team but they are not going to make it to the playoffs. Bryzgalov is awsome and all but he can't keep the puck from hitting the net worth shit. Its a shame that we had to get rid of Dan Carcillo he was so hot! Anyways I hope the Coyotes can improve their game and hopefuly get a playaff spot.

And where was that production with us? Jokinen didn't exactly have the greatest support in Florida either. Blaming our youth on Jokinen's play is just pathetic. Mueller is barely finishing his 2nd year in the league and you'd rather blame him than a guy who CLEARLY underperformed for us? Jokinen was supposed to be the "#1 Center" to play with Doan and help us reach the playoffs. Instead, we got a half-assed effort from him 40 percent of the time.

I also can't forget to mention the fact that our coaching staff has too much of a laid back mentality aka "country-club mentality" If we really want to get to the playoffs, we need a coach who knows different offensive and defensive systems and not "schemes" like Gretzky. Great players dont necessarily make great coaches.

cant agree with you more ive pretty much had enough of gretzky. last year he had the team workin hard every game it was great to see, this year theres no system its just run around and not score. all this year our pp has been terrible and i remember he used to put fedoruk and carcillo on it and it drove me crazy. and jokinen just couldnt fit in with all this youth i dont blame him, no one could set him up for goals. 75% of the goals he scored was him makin plays himself

I have supported the Club since its days in Winnipeg and have continued to support it long after its relocation. Ive made my piece with Winnipeg losing its Hockey Club. But I have to say that Phoenix was never an ideal choice for a Hockey Club. They have a beautiful, relatively new Stadium, and no one goes there. Like the Vancouver Grizzlies Basketball Club, they havent exactly competed for the end of year honours, and that certainly hurt the efforts to grow the support base.

Success on the ice, floor, or pitch breeds monetary success. Sadly, the inverse is also true, and Phoenix has seen far more of the later than the former. This year, they are in the midst of their best year in several, and the Arizona Cardinals make it to the Super Bowl.

Phoenix has a very competitive and crowded sports market. Their baseball, basketball, and football teams are all very successful teams and it is imparitive for the Coyotes to have a good season this year to survive financially. Although, their hockey team could be the weak link and will die off if poor attendence continues. I'm from Canada and like the concept of hockey in Phoenix, and I'm a fan of the Coyotes, but if they can't fill the building with a good team then they'll be relocated.
