Retrospectively, it was pretty narrow-minded of me to say that they "are a better band". But, I suppose if I were to make a case for it, I'd point out Muse's intricate composition and arranging skills, and their ability to apply their talents to a wide variety of styles. Yes, they are also proficient on their respective instruments, but then again, so are Lightning Bolt.

I don't know why you're complaining, Muse if anything got Lightening Bolt listeners because Muse played it at Earl's Court and tens of thousands of people heard Lightening Bolt as a result. Also, Muse's riffs beat Lightening Bolt anyway - Plug in Baby vs Dracula Mountain? Hmmm. Yeah, Muse`s guitar solo`s are mostly really easy or there isn`t one. But I realized when I listened to KoC that it`s not about technique skills. Tom Morello is techniacly better, but he can`t make a riff like Plug In Baby.

Matt can actually do some technically very difficult stuff but he just doesn't chose to put it on albums. For example, Butterflies and Hurricanes live Wembley he does some difficult fast arpeggios and New Born live at Kroq 2004's solo. But yeh, both amazing guitarists for what they WRITE. There are so far more technically advanced guitarists (who aren't at all famous) but who are shit compared to Tom and Matt, because they can't write :)
