I just saw this - I know it's a year old. formaldehyde is actually worse for the hairdressers that use the product. I wouldn't worry about it unless you do it a lot. There is a new treatment out from Redken that my salon wants to try out!

loved this video! I'm getting this done in two weeks before school starts. I also have a TON of hair thats ridiculously thick, like it takes about 4 hours when i go in for color, highlight, and cut. My salon said that it would last me around 3 months and said that with my hair it would probably take a little over 3 hours. hopefully i'll have good results like this!

i heard even "formaldehyde-free" formulas have ingredients that MIX to make formaldehyde! but i also heard they are beginning to regulate how much exposure to the formaldehyde the person has and how much is in the air at the salon....

Redken is also coming out with a keratin treatment in summer of 2011 and it is completely formaldehyde free! You can even do a reverse style with "beach waves". It will still be smooth and frizz free just not completely straight if you so choose! :)

Hey! I'm a stylist in Omaha, Ne and we use that treatment at my salon. I believe the differences in prices you talk about are referring to the different treatments available. Simply Smooth offers many treatments. My salon has 3 to offer. The 1 u got, the Xpress treatment which eliminates curl up to 65% and you can wash your hair in 24 hours which lasts 12-16 weeks if using appropriate products, and the Brazilian Color Lock System which adds tons of shine and locks in ur color. All 3 are awesome!

Your hair looks amazing. I went and watched the video on the manufactures website and they say it takes 25-50% of the curl out. For your hair, did that seem accurate? The reason I ask is I would still like to have some wave for the summer, I like to let my hair air dry, but get rid of the frizz.

I really loved my keratin treatment. I got mine done in November 2009 and mine actually lasted for about 6 months. The only problem I had was that my hair is so thick, I sat in the chair for 3 hours 45 minutes! But overall I loved it, I am glad you have had a good experience with it

Thanks for all the information on your Keratin treatment. I have been loving my hair after I had it done. I agree the hardest part was not washing the hair afterwards. My stylist made me wait 4 days! Aaarggg! It was awlful! I got tons of compliments but like you said it really just felt greasy to me! Here's my question...Do you know if you can still use your dry shampoo? I asked my stylist and he didn't know! I use the Batiste. Also agree with everyone-your face looks FLAWLESS!

I am going to get a keratin treatment in January and I'm so excited! My hair is thick, wavy/curly and gets so frizzy when I dry my hair using a hair dryer. I am not good at blow-drying my hair so I let it air dry which looks best.

The cost of the keratin treatment is £250 at Cobella in Selfridges London! This is somewhat a peace of mind that I am going to a high end salon who know what they are doing.

I think I have watched this video about 4 times. I have pin straight hair so I am sure it is not because of the treatment.
