u got sum gear bwoi! and i like the beat/song! its hella tight! sounds sumthing pretty similar to my beats! i heard that u r doing sum dvd? is that right? peace! and keep it up son!
Yes Im coming out with a full How to Produce with Reason tutorial DVD. The DVD is 70% done should be ready for the summer. It will show you the tips and tricks with Reason and Protools with different equipment and street teqniques that the pros don't want to show anyone.
Just wondering if you needed to quantize your drum pattern after you made. A lot of times when I'm recording on FL studio using my keyboard, I would have to go back and put the notes back in place. Is this a skill that has to be developed?
It is a skill that has to be developed and one way that you can be better at it is to play the drums with nothing else but the metronome or click. I sometimes quantize but at 25% so it stays natural and doesn't sound electronic. It doesn't have to always be exactly to the bar because then you lose the swing of the drums. I usually make sure that my kicks are tight but the snare could be slightly looser. Just make sure that your hats are on the 1/16 bars and are quantized.
Yes they are all connected. I've used all the midi control pads and also what you see the under the screens is an MPC 2000xl fully maxed out. At the end of the day its not what you use is how you use it. So if you have the Akai MPD, read the book, and learn everything you can about it as it will assist you on making the beats the way you like doing them and speed up the the process for you with shortcuts.
yo lex i got a question what do you suggest the akai mpk49 or the korg kontrol 49 and i got the akai mpd24 do you think the korg padkontrol is better or the mpd24 is better and why and what do you use the projectmix for and the digi 002 thanks get back at me
I like to buy things that can be used for multiple uses not just one. I have 2 studios in different locations...one at home (projectmix) and an actual recording studio (digi002)which I use both with protools for making beats and recording songs all in one. The pads on the Akai will feel like an mpc and trys to feel like it. I prefer the drum rolls with the touch sensative pad, easy of templates, and the compactness of the korg over all other pad based controllers. I like the korg
which program do you use?cubase?logic pro? fl studio?

I'm not a big fan of synth based shit, but that melody is dope. Reminds me of Tony's Theme from Scarface.

how do i do that linking reason into protools i have a m audio mobilepre interface thinking of buying a mixer or something and suggestions
djfatz158 3 years ago
oh 1 question what program do you suggest for making beats and a program for recording vocals and mix them
djfatz158 3 years ago
Beat making- I think Reason 4 is the best...especially for starting out.
Recording- Protools is a great program to start with and is used my many in the industry. You can also make beats with it and link reason into it.

thanks for the response i appreciate it

I have 2 different productions studios...this one is the recording studio in which we have a seperate station to work on beats.

What are ya'll sequencing on? Reason, Protools, Cubase?
Good videos BTW!!
moesnuts 4 years ago
We are using Reason with "rewire" into Protools.
We know how to make beats with Protools or Reason 4.0. I am a huge reason 4.0 user.
