Hi I'm going to buy this lens (EF-S 55-250mm to eos500D) just still wondering, could you burn the movie starting at 55mm and 250mm slowly change into so I had to compare, preferably on a street that was a good representation of the zoom ..
@jxing0429 but i still dont understand what it means, bigger difference is better, or it produces smaller depth of field? Can you explain to me please?
@dingo27mobile There is no better or worse for zoom range. large zoom range gives your wider and longer reach but will suffer from optical distortion, chromatic aberration...DoF is determined by focal length, aperture, subject distance... You may check wikipedia for detailed explanation.
@Scortech Yeah, a camcorder will serve this purpose well ,but for low light and portrait filming, Video DSLRs give you much better ISO and narrow DoF.
This and other efs's lenses 18-55is, 10-22, will work on a 1DMKII or full frame, leave me a message And I will send you the link to the PDF file which has all the mods.
It is possible only for Canon to do that. The record software is developed using Canon SDK which allows you transfer data stream of Liveview and still pictures from camera to computer. In camera video recording requires much more work to do with firmware.
450D does not has video capture function. I use a PC software called 'EOS camera movie record'. You connect your camear to PC via USB cable and run the software.

2 questions - in which resolutions/fps can it record and
what does 55-250 numbers mean?
dingo27mobile 1 year ago
@dingo27mobile For 450D, the record software produce 848×560@~22fps MJPEG encoded AVI file. 55-250mm is the focal length range of the zoom lens.

is it possible to change the firmware that you can record videos on your SD cards without a laptop and only capturing from the live view program?

I realize this video is old, but thanks for the heads up on the software. Love that you can manually change focus while recording.
