Thanks you very much really enjoyed this! I don't think New Zealanders know enough about what their men did during the war and the impact they had where ever they fought. Keith Park we are certainly in dept.
Another fabulous dialogue, Clive. As a student of military history (and a graduate of RMC Duntroon) I've always known that Hugh Dowding and Keith Park were ill-treated by Britain after they had literally won the Battle of Britain. Park went on to win the Battle of Malta for the allies as well. So it's about time he had a statue. As an Australian journalist, I'm glad to see you (especially) reminding apparently uneducated Poms like Mary Wakefield how much they owe to war heroes like Keith Park.
Clive, a beaufiful form of commentary and a nice touch to highlight the ignorance and influence of the soundbite journalist in print in the modern day liberal democracy. Thank you for not being one of the media masses, and as a New Zealander, thank you for taking the time to remember someone so humble.
Park and dowding deserve so much more respect than they get
Sad.... so sad.

Poor Keith Park and Dowding, I just wished these people had got the credit they deserved in their lifetimes.
Nice journalism as always from Clive James.
