In my childhood, my older brother and I owned two puppies from the same bitch that belong to my uncle (ahm that's the real word for mother dog, isn't it). The first one was run over by a car, the second one died of old age. My brother gave them both formal burial ceremony.

I saw on the news, a lady rescued 19 dogs...her love of animals drained her financially, end up divorced husband (or he divorced her?)...the dogs 'had to be rescued from her home' bcuz 'dogs were not properly taken care of..."...At the end they all were sent to 'dog heaven' about at the same time...

Even though most of the time it costs money to adopt a pet, real "pet owners" don't really think of pets as possessions that are "owned". A dog is a member of the family. It requires love and care (as if it were your own child), and let's not forget, sometimes even sacrifice, like when you have to deprive yourself of certain goods and comforts to have enough money to pay off the vet bill. It's not ownership, it's relationship. In other words, I think you have no idea what you're talking about.
