look i'll be perfectly honest, yes she has done HEAPS more than some in terms of helping people, and that is not to be forgotten because hundreds, if not thousands of people are now better off because of her, but I don't think she deserves an oscar for it, definitely some other kind of humanitarian award but not really an oscar, she hasn't been in enough films to warrant it, paul newman on the other hand did deserve his because he was in enough films and also helped hundreds of people

@odiekable This is a humanitarian award. Anyone who's famous and does charity and such can get it. And I think Oprah deserves this one very much. For acting, James Earl Jones got the Honorary Award, which was IMO also well-deserved. :)

@odiekable The Jean Hersholt Award is for members of the Academy who have demonstrated outstanding contributions to humanitarian causes. It has nothing to do with their acting abilities, but with what they have done for others during their lifetime. It is not awarded annually as only rare individuals qualify for this honour. It is named after Jean Hersholt because he set up institutions to help Academy members who could not afford health care.
