Bush made the right choice in vetoing the bill. Don't be fooled by the Democrats trying to twist it around as him being a heartless bastard. It was reported that even families with household incomes of $80,000 a year would be eligible for aid from the government. That really doesn't strike me as a "poor family".

There's a grave problem with the SCHPS bill, which many are not aware of, which because of its socialist connotations, at some point, it is likely to be challenged in court as unconstitutional, in other words, it is coercive, it that it robs our physicians of their ability to work within a free market. At some point in the near future, the Roberts Supreme Court will strike it down as the first step in the slippery slope toward universal socialism.

It was reported that even families with household incomes of $80,000 a year would be eligible for aid from the government. That really doesn't strike me as a "poor family".

The bill allows states such as NY, with higher than average cost of living, to apply to the Sec. of HHS for waivors to allow families earning 400% of poverty rate, who have kids who can't get insurance (pre-existing conditions), into the program. For a family of 4 that can in some situations work out to 80K a year. Otherwise, a working family with a sick kid has to quit working and apply for welfare/medicaid. Is that your idea of a solution?

i didnt support the Bush PRESIDENCY from the start. When he started the war in 02, I was against it, but it didnt surprise me at all.

You know in North Carolina, you can go to the health clinic, and they hand out a certain form to illegal immigrants that reads something like this..
If you are illegal and do not have a social security number, we will provide a linguist for you and help you obtain one.
having said that, I work with needy families and often have seen US citizens out lose their job and not be able to get a the slightest bit of help. Bush is merely a puppet.

well, i asked that, because my family came here in the 1700's. Im as "American" as one can get. But my ancestor never signed any papers. He was illegal. And a lot "True Americans" have the same story. Only ellis island-type immigrants are legal.

There's a grave problem with the SCHPS bill, which many are not aware of, which because of its socialist connotations, at some point, it is likely to be challenged in court as unconstitutional, in other words, it is coercive, it that it robs our physicians of their ability to work within a free market. At some point in the near future, the Roberts Supreme Court will strike it down as the first step in the slippery slope toward universal socialism.
