  • I love it.

  • if a song is a whole step down, but I choose to keep my guitar in standard, could I just not play a whole step down on the fretboard? Is that how it works?

I would appreciate any help here. Peace

  • @18tremolo Yep. but the low notes would be unplayable.

  • He reminds me of shawn lane

  • Hi @licklibrary ! I'm considering purchasing an ibanez SA260FM guitar which comes with a tremelo. Having just used whammy bars on my stratocaster for the past 3 years I was wondering if it is possible to pull Tremolo's backwards to increase the pitch of the sound in a similar style to which Synyster Gates and Dimebag do? Please reply to this comment as quick as possible.

  • 3.01 what guitar is that?

  • @Ibik Hi there, thanks for getting in touch - Michaels guitar at 3.01 sec is a 1989 Valley Arts Custom Pro. Hope that helps!!

  • YES! this isnt expert village. seems to be a 50% chance that every "instructional" video is from them :P

  • lol at 1:40 This backingtrack I used for a song which is on youtube but in comparison to this my song sucks balls xD

  • tremelo?

  • What guitar is that in 1.40? Sounds wicked!

  • where I can buy michael casswell's cd?

  • @IlProfessore1993 Hi there, unfortunately Michael doesnt have a CD out yet of his own material. However if your after this dvd Michael is talking about you just need to follow the link to our website to place an order. Let us know if you need any more help. All the best!

  • what kind of pickups are those?

  • @licklibrary what's the string gauge of the blue fender?

  • @1ocd mind sharing?

  • @duff13579. Yes, I do.

  • Hey does anyone know what chords he is playing over during the part with the orange valley arts guitar where he was going crazy on the Floyd rose?

  • I bought this DVD and it is awesome, you can learn so much from it!

It is great fun to watch Michael doing all this great stuff!

  • Whats your song at the begginig called? Your very skilled!

  • this guy is a MONSTER of technique and has great teaching skills. calm and composed. recommended for every eager serious musician.

  • Hi there, I set up the guitar as Michael so I can easily get a minor 3rd on the g string (if I go crazy may be a little bit more than a Bb) .. just wondering, on a vintage tremolo how far Michael can go if he dives in totally? I can't go anyfurther than 4 frets, for istance if I play a "e" on the the 7th fret on the g string I can max reach a "c" ....... is that ok? or may be I should set the bridge a bit lower?

    thanks!

  • Craziness

  • The note choice between 3:48 and 3:52 is so Shawn Lane. When is Michael's album coming out?

  • @Conor4049 Hi there Michael is still putting some finishing touches to his album as soon as we have a date will let you know!

  • what kind of nut is on the white strat

  • @friendofGod777........He is working on his album at the moment.... could be a track off that.

  • I like 3:50-4:40! Does anyone know if its a song or him just soloing??

  • whats the song called at @ 5:01 ?? wish i knew

  • 5.40....GOLD !

  • What are the three tracks?

  • plucking while soloing.. WoW

see how quick he change guitar really awesome

  • What pickups does he have in the guitar at 2:59? I guess it's a Valley Arts guitar but what pickups?

  • wish i could do all that w/o a pick...

  • any way tell me your name or your band name, plz.. u are great

  • I just got this DVD and I've only played through the first couple of chapters (basic vibrato and pitch changing) and I must say, Michael Casswell really knows his stuff! He's an effective teacher and presents his lessons in an easily-digestible and down-to-earth manner. I recommend this DVD to EVERYONE with a tremolo!

  • @meclemenkowoff.the first track is by Mike Casswell. A version of the first track will be on Michaels forthcoming album. Should be out Dec of Jan.

  • Same question as ledzeppelin4485: what's the first song ?

  • the blue strat made me cream my pants

  • no dive bombs?

  • does techniques work for a floyd rose as well?

  • After seeing this, I think someone at lick library should be thinking about doing a Michael Lee Firkins quick licks :)

  • the distortion sound on the orange guitar is the sound i've been looking for!!! does anyone know how to get that specific sound?

  • I immediately thought of the Pit when i saw this title. cookie for reference.

  • how much is this dvd?

  • @PX917 Hi there where abouts are you based? Ive sent you a link to the site - to the dvd.

  • man he is great

  • Amazing technique. I love the stuff he's doing on the orange guitar with the harmonics. I want this DVD

  • @willrivaldo Hi there , we've put the link for this dvd in the description! happy learning!

  • According to Michael, the first cream strat is a prototype 91 Jeff Beck with gold lace sensors, the second sonic blue strat is his 63, the 3rd is his 89 valley arts with it's original sa sa 85 emgs, and the last yellow strat is an 87 with again, gold lace sensor p.ups.

  • I'd love to know about those pick ups bro

  • Favourited as soon as I heard/saw the first thing played. That was fucking EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC EPIC

  • whats the song at the beginning? or is it just a jam?

  • What are those parts with the guitar are they songs or is he just playing?

  • that blue strat sounds UNREAL!!!

  • Wow, this guy's really awsome. Not just that. He's inspiring aswell.

  • definitely thinking about getting this. Casswell's demo pretty much won me over. lol

  • Interesting, I think I might need to pick this. And to the other guitar players, remember the whammy bar is your friend.

  • hiphop huh! hahaha

  • oh my god what kind of strings are those? there so noodley. i use ernie ball super slinky and they dont even noodle that much

  • My bar is near that sensitive

  • I see lots of Jeff Beck influence here at times.

I'm liking the work! Excellent stuff!

  • Does this DVD have tabs and backing tracks with it? I'm very interested in buying this..

  • The dvd does come with 4 Jam Tracks but unfortunately we don't have Tabs to accompany the dvd. hope that helps.

  • Hmm, well the camerawork seems very clear so I think I could manage without tabs- thanks for the reply!

  • @GerMaj7th no problem! Enjoy the dvd.

  • cool beard

  • what a great touch this guy has and beautiful control

  • this shit looks like the guitar will be easily untuned

  • If you go to your guitar store and ask for a whammy bar installation on your guitar you won't have a problem

  • which song is at the biginning

  • i think its just an old lick

  • mmmmm fender '59 sonic blue <3

  • I don't think anyone has noticed this... but doesn't the nut on the yellow strat look a lot like the locking nut from the Super Vee locking trem system??? That would explain how he kept in such great tune with that one while doing the extreme trem movements

  • @ZepIV

It's a roller nut from Wilkinson. It eliminates binding in the nut.

  • Whats the song starting at 5:00?

I heard it in another movie from Michael Casswell too, but I want to know the name of the song =)

  • Yes, me too; my guitar always get out of tune when I use my tremolo bar (the effect is cool, but is a bit annoying to tune again and again).

I have a Fender Squier (and soon a Stratocaster); can anybody of us tell me how to use tremolo bar, and keep my guitar tuning? Thank you very much.

  • @mikeblackmetal you need to have a floyd rose

  • no u dont

  • in my case, i have a fender vintage tremolo(normal) and after av hade set it up i let it stand for about 2 days so the strings can get used to the possison, also I take my strings off teh string trea

sorry gor my super bad english

  • lol, locking nuts! so if you get a strat, ur outa luck. try jackson, ibanez, ltd/esp, or schecter guitars.

  • @mikeblackmetal its easy , but u wont want to know ...... theres a system (floyd rose) wichi allows you to use the bar w/o getting out of tune... emm ... for your case i can do nothing D: .... thats why i bought a jackson xD ..

  • Be sure you put the strings on properly. (then they will lock themselves) That usually does the job. If not, I would recommend replacing them with Schaller locking tuners. I have them on my EBMM Luke guitar, and they WILL keep the guitar in tune. Hope that helps:-)

  • get ur self locking tuners and LSR nut ;)

  • buy a floyd rose or kahler guitar...problem solved

  • sounds like jeff beck

  • wonderful! always good to hear a master play

  • Damn right the guy is good. The cream colored Jeff Beck model at the beginnig has a Wilkinson roller nut. The yellow guitar at the end has the LSR roller nut. The tuners are locking Sperzels. Straight string pull, roller nut plus locking tuners stay in tune very well.

  • how does his guitar not go out of tune when he doesnt have a lock on it. As soon as i touch the tremelo on my guitar it goes out of tune

  • the model that he is playing is a jeff beck signature model strat. The strat has locking tuners and a roller nut which reaally helps keep the guitar in tune.

  • because he can actually afford to get it setup really well ,unlike the rest of us

  • if u dont have a floyd rose all u have to do is not leave any strings open, thts it, so hold thee other strings down when ur playing, u get it?

  • how does his guitar not go out of tune when he doesnt have a lock on it?? As soon as i touch the whammy bar on my guitar it goes out of tune

  • This guy is really good. Hes sounds and plays just like Jeff Beck. I love it. Hes even got the same exact guitar set up and same nut. Any one know what kind of nut is on the first guitar? The yellow guitar.

  • @brib333 It is a floyd rose locking nut, without the nuts

  • Whats the difference between tremolo arm and thw whammy bar cos mine when i push down on the bar it lowers the pitch of the the guitar... and also its really hard to push on

  • the tremolo arm and whammy bar is the same thing and maybe yours is hard to "push" down because you have a very high tension ,if you have a standard tremolo or a floyd check the springs at the back

  • does he teach the sonngs as it such?? iam guessing not

  • What song is it from the beginning to 1:30? I love it !

  • that is one of Mikes own songs.

  • Whats teh song on the beginning? or is it just some random stuff?

  • he plays that song on his "effect pedals" dvd. awesome song. got more to it. he plays it with a slide in the video. awesome song. his prolly.

    Evergreen

  • 2:55 to 4:20 - beautiful......

  • this guys my guitar performance tutor

  • Comment removed

  • what guitar does he play at 3:00?

  • Harmonics..

You have to put the finger on the string upon the fret.

  • not sure but i think an ibanez rg550

  • What kind of strat was the one with the humbucker and weird looking nut?

  • and again at about 5:40

  • how do you get the notes to sound like they do at 2:12 to 2:15??

  • you pull it up and shake it

  • This guy is bad asss

  • what can i do to prevent tuning problems for my guitar i have a yamaha erg 121 with a standard whammy bar system what can i do to keep it in tune when i use it

  • Get rid of your plastic nut and get a custom bone nut

  • put locking tuners and block your bridge

  • What type of nut do you have? good nuts are key for tuning i believe....

  • That first lick was really cool. Sounds like heavier Allman bros sometimes, like heavy-ish blues.

  • I think he's got a Jeff Beck sound with the exception of the first lick, like you say.. the first one I didn't care for but do like the rest of his stuff

  • my tremolo arm(stick) is too hard too pull or to push it.....If someone knows why this happens just tell me plz

  • the spring tension is more than likely too tight mate. You need to adjust the "claw" screws to settle the tension back - but only enough to keep it steady/straight/flat tuned to pitch, dont go so far that the bridge raises/angles.

  • loosen it

  • if you use the wah wah the guitar would sound different (like it's talking), but if you use the tremolo the pitch of the strings will change

  • the wah wah is a pedal and the tremolo is the stick next to the strings

  • reminds me of jeff beck´s roys toy!

    cool

  • Sounds like Duane Allman went metal!!!

  • sounds like steve vai

  • I totally agree!

I would like to have this dvd!

  • does that fender have floyd rose tremolo...if not doesnt it get out of tune?

  • Nope. If u set up ur guitar right u shouldnt have to worry. Actually its explained in the dvd. good nut (graphite or LSR roller nut) locking tuners, and ur all set. I personally like STD strat systems (although i have a floyd strat) because u can due just all but bend up 6 semitones, mabey even more. look up jeff beck to see wat imean.

  • fenders dont come with floyd rose he would have had his put on the come with ordanairy bridges with is fine but u cant go nuts with the bar

  • Fender Strat (USA) with the humbucker does come with a floyd rose.....

  • This should be a fun dvd. These guys at Lick Library are amazing guitarists!

  • wow, i love this videos

    this is just amazing!

  • Love the Jeff Beck sounding examples!

  • I would also like to have this dvd!

  • i would like to have this dvd!
