It sounds odd even to me, as a general left-of-center voter, to hear me say it, but I'd like to see us go to a flat tax, with a subsistence-level income floor beneath which taxes are not paid; the numbers I've seen show it would be more equitable, and in actuality more progressive, than what we have, and would eliminate the need to spend tens of billions of dollars filling out tax forms each year. How this idea came to me?

There is no debt problem in the US. Taxes do NOT fund spending at the Federal level. Neither does debt issuance. Taxes are a drain on spending and give demand for a currency. Debt issuance is used to maintain short term interest rates.
As long as dollar hegemony remains the US doesn't face a financing problem, only voluntary constraints.

Part of the horror from this terrible mess comes from the disillusionment that the US isn't anything like what we've all been lead to believe. No matter how good the system if the people running it don't operate it with the proper intention or spirit it won't work, at least not for the people whom it was supposed to serve. The US is a corporate state they make the rules they select the leader figureheads and give the citizens the illusion of a democracy where they have a say.

13.4% is because most of these Corporations are moving their Corporate Headquarters to counties like Ireland and to Countries in Scandinavia. the less assets that you posses in this country, the less overall taxes that you will have to pay.

Even if the banks did pay taxes,they would just pay it with digital money or printed paper they made.Even if corporations did pay taxes they would just pass the costs to the consumers.Those who have to pay taxes will do what they can to minimize or eliminate taxes. This whole system of taxation doesn't work and needs to be changed and simplified,maybe a flat or fair tax.
Also money needs to be backed by something that cannot be created out of thin air.End the f***ing Federal Reserve now.

Taxation doesn't work because money runs the show, so if you have enough you can semi-legally maneuver your way out of paying, unlike most normal citizens don't/can't when in court against paying taxes.

It sounds odd even to me, as a general left-of-center voter, to hear me say it, but I'd like to see us go to a flat tax, with a subsistence-level income floor beneath which taxes are not paid; the numbers I've seen show it would be more equitable, and in actuality more progressive, than what we have, and would eliminate the need to spend tens of billions of dollars filling out tax forms each year. And yes, the unconstitutional Fed needs to go.
