  • Wow, this is much faster than the original track. If only Planet Mu shipped this version too ;-;

  • soundcloud com/snte/aaron-funk-wouldnt-appreciate My trip-hop remix of "Cancel" by VS :)))

  • It's so fast, it blurs on the camera...

  • @HigginsUltraSedative it's something like 215bpm (a little less... i think...) with 7/8 meter

  • what is that? i dont get the point.

  • @xtom1973 Download the program "Renoise" and try to make something that sounds like this ;)

  • @xtom1973 u don't get the point of music?

  • @xtom1973 That's the screen of his computer, he is using the program Renoise to make the music that you're listening, that is the footage of the program playing the music as he wrote it there. That's it.

  • how did you get this?

  • @SuperHappyFunTimeLol He got this because he is Aaron Funk.

  • @22mar79 ohh, lol i didnt expect him to have a youtube account

  • @SuperHappyFunTimeLol Yes. But it seems that he has been away from here for a long long time though, hehe.

  • I wish this was higher quality.

  • damn... 5 years ago now

  • 0:37 is freaking awesome offbeat shit man

  • YEAH! High LPB Renoise users unite!

  • Something tells me Vsnares used to write 4 channel .mod's back in the day.

  • How does he do his magic?

  • 2 years later i've seen that video... I can tell you that renoise is FUCKING AWESOME and it helped me a lot for violating the music laws. Thanks to venetian snares for the inspiration, but thanks to all the tracker users that keep it real out there!!!!! YEAAAA

  • its like a big milkytracker!

  • Crank up your LPB and BPM, and get happy with Retrigger 0Exy on Amen breaks - instant Venetian snares track.

  • IT GOES SO FAST!!1!1!!!1

  • I dont understand this. Maybe thats what makes it cool. Who knows.

  • *waits for cow*

  • Another high profile musician who used trackers during 90's and early 00's is Richard D. James. Also known as Aphex Twin. Even the most basic trackers are able to create intricate music.

  • wow who knew V snares can make beatiful madness on renoise

  • @djnosleeves85 renoise is genius for breaks

  • @FeyriVs Im using ableton with my APC and lauchpad im gonna try to make some serious breakcore soon LOL

  • @djnosleeves85 out of PURE curiosity, why would you have an APC aaand a Launchpad.....?? APC is like a Launchpad but with more options... Not being a dick, just seriously curious as to what you'd do with both... :)

  • @whoisdin well to be honest i couldnt choose between which one i wanted so i ended up gettin both of them.

Had extra money during the summer LOL)

Plus with both of them i have a tons of options and cool automation and midi settin tricks i can do when it comes to making music in live.

but i'll will never be able to like V snares this man is beyond his time.

  • Sometimes Aaron's music is so incredible I forget he is man and sleeps in a house.

  • ALERT ! your computer is on RED Zone !!!!

  • THIS IS A MACHINE FOR MAKING COWS

    no, that can't be right...

THIS IS A MASQUERADE FOR MAKING CLOUDS

    nope!

YOU ARE A MACHINE FOR MAKING COWS

    no i'm not!

THIS IS A MACHINE FOR MAKING CLOUDS

    bingo!

  • @TheCrazyal02 I've always thought it was "This is a machine for making sound".

  • @TheCrazyal02 its for making cows

have you seen the album art?

  • @roadflare No, I must have misheard that. Although, if it means musical hamburgers, I'm all for it! :P

  • Considering the french is "This is a machine for making cows", I'm confused why you're not hearing it. . .unless you're being facetious. In which case, carry on : )

  • Et ouais écouter de la musique tres fort ca use les tympans au bout d un moment..

Sans parler du reste, spécial dédicace aux crew du sud

  • this blow my mind

  • so godly

  • I've yet to get my head around renoise. FL is my homeboy- because I'm genuinely retarded.

  • @irnybru Changing your DEW won't make you more talented. FL Studio can be used to create awesome shit like this.

  • @Seikken

    Aye, true...

  • @irnybru Phones <3 FL.

  • Nice one Aaron! Killer! RENOISE 4 LIFE! lol

  • seems to me like there are 16 lines per beat and 7 beats to a section. So 112 lines per section? something like that i think.

I'm guessing its in a 7/4 time signature throughout. I tried counting it out and i got lost a few times, but i think thats just me being thrown off by the accented off-beats.

  • @heeerro im sure i read on wiki that you can get the open source somewhere :D not that i tried to get it.... But that would be extremely cool

  • wow that sequencer is going fast

  • "rewire hissing sound"

    if its the demo version

    "rapes piano roll"

he used cubase to make some tracks

  • wtf

  • The undoubted result of many years of tracking. Great attention to detail, whilst working with absurd tempo yet keeping everything as tight as a nun's noonie.

  • holy cow!

  • nice colours ;) and tempo

  • make it simple ragganaut, learn your own texture!!!!

  • I use FL Studio for my breakcore, and this just rapes me. I don't even need to continue, i'm just violated.

  • @SpikroddNG then dont use FL. Renoise is perfect for breakcore.

  • what the fuck! i have no idea what renoise is whatsoever or what is going on on the screen, but it works great as visuals!! :) and besides, it almost convinces me that he isnt a magician or a god, but actually creates his music. not sure though

  • this is one of the most genious things I've ever heard, absolutely surreal!

  • Trackers for the win!!1

  • The secret to Venetian Snares? I do not know who that is, or what is going on, but I am delighted that "a high-BPM song in a tracker" is worth 100,000+ views in this day and age. And here I thought nobody cared about this stuff past 1993.

  • what the fuck... this is insane!

  • renoise tracker is great.. . .

  • My mind just imploded into infinite space.

  • Venetian Snares is The King! This stuff is pure musicality. Doesn't matter which software you use, if you know what you're doing...

  • @SGdrill

kind of. if you know what you are doing then you choose your tools carefully.

  • Frcking amzing! I always wonder how many lines in your pattern length 224? 448? A million???

  • How long does it ordinarily take to make a song like this, Aaron?

  • DIE WINNIPEG DIE DIE DIE FUCKERS DIE

  • Damn it, I'm going to keep commenting on this video until he stops approving my comments >:(

So, we know he uses renoise for this kind of stuff, but wtf does he do for awesome stuff like Songs about my cats or even Huge chrome cylinder box? This is one of the many mysteries of the world.

  • Thanks for uploading this!!

  • thanks man for your music

  • Venetian snares is the king!

  • OK, my plan is to make screenshots of every pattern and then enhance the quality find out all of his secret elitist tricks, and then I have the secret to venetian snares!!!

    Or not.

  • @koekhapper LOL

  • @koekhapper

    CSI style shit :

  • @koekhapper probaly not me thinks :(

  • @koekhapper rinse & repeat ;)

  • holy fuck, i use renoise.. and this is shitting MENTAL

  • This is absolutely one of my favorite songs. I have the cd, and the artwork on it is craaaaazy! Especially for me as a vegan, the song is about a machine... for making cows.. une machine, pour faire les vaches! WTF! It's so true though, the mechanized industry.

and who the fuck voted this less than 5 stars, it's genius :P

  • Good Jebus, look at how many samples/instruments he has loaded on top right hand screen o.o I thought I used a lot >_>

And metalzone is right. You can see where he places his samples on the screen. It looks intimidating but if you use renoise you'll know what to look for.

    Keep on breaking Mr snares.

  • Awesome! Did you transcribe that yourself? If so did you create or use stock sounds and how long did it take?

  • So how the shit does he make tracks like Hanjal and Find Candace?

I dont see a "Make a freaking awesome mindblowing shitbending song" Button in renoise 2.1

  • lol

Honestly I think it's just setting the BPM to like 3,000 and then carefully orchestrating the note pitches of sample triggers. Quite simple really. But he also surely uses VST plugins to achieve gods know what.

Everything off Roscz is different tho, uses samples from a famous suite by a European composer. And Blondie I think.

  • jesus christ, you are way off the fucking mark... for starters, renoise, like most sequencers, will go up to 999bpm. speed adjustments can be made according to the speed level and/or lines per beat. there is no magic vst to do what v.snares does, it's all very clever sequencing and production AND a very thorough knowledge of trackers.

and the track you think blondie features on in his album 'roscz' is 'gloomy sunday.' it's not blondie, it's billie holiday.

  • the composer being mostly elgar i'm fairly sure. i wish more people who sample did as much to make something old into something new like snares did with that album.

  • @gali32731 IUt's possible but it takes dedication and patience. In Renoise EVERYTHING is done from the ground up.

  • AUGZF

  • @AugZF HI AUGZF LOOLOLOLOLLO

  • @gali32731 There is one, but only he and a few select others can see it

  • @gali32731 :') I made that comment a year ago...I feel so proud

  • @gali32731 They added that in 2.6

  • @gali32731 talent, man, talent. and probably lots of drugs :P

  • does renoise better than fruity loops? :)

  • Does renoise what better than fruity loops? x3

  • how the fuck do you even start making this type of music on renoise?

  • I remain in a similar situation as you.

  • u rtfm (((;

  • You get the drum break from Amen Brother by The Winstons. Then you cut it up into individual hits and

  • enable record and start hammering in notes

  • This is hot, hot shit

    Totally sick

  • trackers are scary

  • im confused by whats going on, on the screen :\

  • bap , bap , bap, bap, bap, takt-aktaktak- ta, bap, bap, bap, bap, bap, takt-toukitaktaktak-too

  • LOL! what?

  • Incredible

  • Okay, I take back my previous comment. Trackers are a LOT more inspirational than your conventional interface due to simplicity. Also, why did my comment before, although wrong in retrospect, get multiple thumbs-downs?

  • Hmm, what IS the difference between a so-called "sequencer" and Renoise?

  • what the fuck lol

  • fuckin' sick

  • what version of renosie is this?

  • 1.9

  • does anyone use linux?

  • Yeah i was useing linux to produce in renoise but when i realised that theres no vsts for linux i went back to windows.

  • @dawoof yes. it's a pain in the ass to set up renoise for linux though. you're much better off in windows or quite possibly mac.

  • mate i bet its his own version

you can get the code for the program and edit it

  • @SneakyCheez

no you can't. it's not open source. modplug is though.

  • ive started using ableton over the past few days but i think i do prefer trackers rather than scenes so does anyone know where i could get RENOISE?

    cheers x

  • just download the trial and use that... if you like it then it's really cheap to buy. great software. the only thing you can't do with the trial is to render sound.

  • U cant render a sample to a chosen length...

And if u rewire renoise to somthing it gives off an annoying hiss sound every 5 mins.

  • freekin' sweetness

  • HOLY SHIT

  • holy crap my head is going to blow off my body

  • VSnares is the reason I'm listening to music. I like rock in all, but that got old after a few years of listening to the same 4/4 rhythm and being able to tell what bpm it is and the key that it's in by the first note of the song. Aaron Funk is the new beginning. That's all I have to say.

  • apple apple pineapple!

    apple apple pineapple!

  • thinking about wrighting this fast in renoise gives me a head ache thats gotta be set on speed 1 :/ i use 6

  • righteoussss :D

  • this is art i reckon...can imagine all the love that goes into each track...i tink dis is great!

  • YO!

  • I'm surprised to see a well-known artist a fellow renoise user. You rock vsnares!

  • Wow... amazing.

  • I LOVE YOU

  • RENOISE FUKKIN RULES!!!!-

  • totally experimental music, almost sounds like its going to be a drum n bass track you should make a remix of this.

  • lol

  • This makes me feel really shitty about my Renoise skills. Hah.

  • teach me

  • ilu

  • The sound level is maxxed out, yet there is no clipping or distortion whatsoever?

  • After seeing this video my face melted and I switched to renoise!!!

  • amazing

  • i want to learn this so baaaad

  • nice to see a reference to dada poet/suicide jacques vache

  • Great song

  • i cant find the download for this song anywhere!

  • AWESOME SONG!

  • you sir, Mr. Arron Funk, are my hero. I <3 ur music, and it realy makes me mad when people say "it sounds like someone just slammed on a synthisizer". My friends give me a lot for listening to your music but, its too cool not to listen to. Keep up the good work.

  • CAPOOOOOOO!

  • i lovvvv- this - a l b u ,

  • that's awesome!! i'll learn to use fuckin' trackers.

    u're the best man!

  • 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7,...

  • HALF GOD HALF HUMAN

  • good lord is that runing at speed 1?

  • Venetian Snares RULZ

  • YOU'RE THE BEST!

  • really though?! +66!?!?!?!

  • That's frikkin awesome.

  • Does anybody know a software to improve the quality of the video?I mean it's great Aaron did this but I can't see the most interesting things(vst, etc.)

  • Don't be a biter.

  • Don't try to copy the Snares Man! There can be only one! Try to come up with your own inventive stuff and don't ask anyone for help either: believe me, I've tried.

PS. The video only shows Renoise, no VSTs. Zooming in would only help you to copy the settings, which would be pointless. Learn it on your own.

  • reckon thats not the point..

  • I think a man of Vsnares means would be able to afford a good camera. Me thinks its poor quality on purpose because he doesnt want people to know the full story. He has to keep some mystery and magic

  • 430 bpm , speed 3 , pattern lenth 112 . I think those are proberly the most interesting things you'd learn or a better quality vid

  • actually the bpm in this track is 475, sp4. and yeah it's in 7/4 so you do the maths...

  • That would destroy the vsnares mystery, knowing all his tricks.

  • everything is right before you eyes.....just gotta know what to look for.....

  • YES! Trackers RULE. I like to use Madtracker alot. Aslo on 380 - 420 BPM!!!! It's nice to see another tracker like thisone running so fast!

    Greets to all you trackers!!!

  • Too fucking good :)

  • This video is all sorts of fuck yes. I need to learn how to use this software. Downloading tutorials now...

  • i beg to differ, my downfall is a breakcore album, but is mostly orchestral brilliance

  • so many fucking patters, arghh

  • REnoise...... da shit!!

  • Trackers are soo much superior to Cubase, FL Studio, Reason, etc. Its just the other software have had BIG money pumped into marketing the product. Trackers have always been underground since the Amiga days and now are gaining popularity with the mainstream crowd. Trackers are so much more flexible.

  • FUCK YOU

  • Kiss the Master's feet.

  • frooty noob.

  • I agree

  • wow man...

I just finished watching the vids that show you the very basics of renoise. Watching this I think was jumping 2 or 3 billion steps lol.

Shouts from Newfoundland Mr. Funk, love your chaos and noise.

  • oh dear, nice work aaron.
