pitbulls and bull terriers are not related. the bull terrier is a product of the white extinct terrier and bulldog. they were once know as a gladitor dog but because of their temperment they didn't make good fighting dogs ( bull terriers will not pick a fight but they will finish one). BTW some breeds of bull terrier have staffordshire terrier in them which is not a pitbull either. staffordshire terrier is a recognize breed by the akc, pitbulls are NOT!
