i'm SO sick of people saying "metalcore/melodic death metal." they are NOT the same thing! get out of the ignorant, know nothing scene you dumb ass wipes. learn what you're listening to.
Dude, first off, drop your voice and learn to express yourself properly. Dare I ask you to point out where I've equated them? Or how do they exlude each other? I'd be most curious to hear it.
Now, just a technical quesion: whose influence has made old-school mdm and modern mdm (which the video is actually about) almost entirely different genres, besides that of neothrash? HINT: the answer is -core word.
Being 'i-fucking-know-everything' barely adds any validity to your words.
Oh I believe I've expressed myself quite nicely thanks. The point is this: A lot of metal fans, myself included, look on the genre "core" with absolute and utter contempt. I'd go one step further and say that it is the BANE of heavy music. To see "metalcore" as an acceptable form of heavy music is bad enough, but it is constantly being labeled as "metalcore/melodic death metal" which disgraces ACTUAL mdm. Like what you want, I'm just out to keep the genre's separate, cause hardcore sucks turd
Gotta admit, it's difficult to argue against the point like "hardcore sucks turd". I also fail to see your perception of "ACTUAL mdm" - modern scene is greatly influenced by other genres streaks, mosh riffing in particular. You may like it or not but attempts to deny obvious rather indicate close-mindness.
What actually deserves contempt is the current tendency of labeling any simplified stuff as metalcore, majority of those bands having nothing to do with it. The whole term is botched up now.
I was kinda surprised to hear their song in this cool video and I think it's great to see someone who cares for Mercenary (my favorite Metal band), because only few know about them and their awsome music.
It is interesting to hear bands like you have here and talk with people like yourself to better understand the difference in so many types of metal music.Another band I like is Loch Vostok. Not everything they do is to my liking but they deserve more attention.
One of my interests is knowing where these bands are from.
I am new here to YouTube and also new to modern metal.
I grew up listening to Sabbath,Deep Purple,Status Quo and The Guess Who.
Then in the mid 70's it was Judas Priest and Scorpians. The 80's is where I really got serious with Accept,The Rods,Krokus,Iron Maiden and Metal Church.
Only in the last few days have I been introduced to bands such as Soilwork,In Flames and Strapping Young Lad.
It is amazing how serious people are about the catagory of the music.
Well, notwithstanding my channel being dedicated almost entirely to modern metal (which is really a noticable part of my taste), i'm not at all a stranger to the classic. One does no harm to other :)
As for me, there's nothing wrong with being specific about the genre, it gives you some orientation. Unless you forget that genre label is not the only orientation you have, it helps to not get lost. I dont really care about where my music belongs :)
i wouldn't consider ANY of these bands "metalcore". most of them were goth.....then 1980's thrash style....the new school. then the rest are just plain old metal .
Well, defining the genre is slippery ground, that's why i generally tried to tend to the way the bands position themselves. Goth... except for Dominia i dont see anything appreciably influenced by gothic there. Thrash... I partly agree but metalcore doesnt necessarily include melodeath elements. There's no clean metalcore though, i agree. And perhaps some of the songs dont completely reflect the primary band's sound, my bad :(
Sorry for replying this late, for some reason i missed your comment before :( Yeah, i've just checked lastfm and i gotta say 700k plays is not bad for the unknown band :) My bad. Thanks for your comment!
I'm so glad that you put Kill the Romance in this video! It's my favourite band! One of the great bands that come from Lahti! Check out Before the Dawn, Profane Omen and Tuoni if you still haven't! Lahti metal is the best there is!
Not bad. They definitely have what it takes to be good metalcore - true vigor and dynamic. Imo, they need to be a little more distinctive. But their sound I liked )
anyone can tell me what is MDM metal?
