I've always admitted the Orioles are a bad team. The Yankees are a very good team. But what you have to understand is how frustrating it is to go to a game at Oriole Park against the Yankees and its 60% Yankees fans, half of which aren't even from New York. I have 100% respect for true Yankees fans who are from NY or their family is from NY, but "fans" who only like them because they're good and the Orioles are bad? That's just not right.

The Yankees have the legacy of great teams and hall of fame players. The Orioles have 2 decades of fielding very good to great teams 1965-1983. With the exception of 1996-97, the Orioles have been mediocre. Because the New York Yankees have a mystique and all that history, they can get any great talent available. In baseball, unlike basketball and football, talent alone does not automatically guarantee success. The Dallas Cowboys of 2008 are an excellent example.

I grew up in Baltimore from 83 to 91. My dad, being an architect, helped oversee the masterplanning of Camden Yards. Because it opened after we moved, I never got to go to a game at it...until 01. I heard Cal was retiring and wanted to see him play in one last game, so we went for my Birthday. It's 9/13 and we all know what happened on 9/11. We had to postpone my trip a week, but when we went, they played the Yankees and won 7-6. My dad even got a ball that Chris Richard tossed into the stands.
