Man you over paid, I have the KDC-248U with pretty much the only difference is mine has an iPod button and it cost me $100 with wiring harness and dash kit.
Got the same deck, and it DOES take a flash drives and not only iPods and iPhones. Just ordered my remote from eBay for $17.00 and I purchased the deck for $50.00.... I love Kenwood products! You should too...
if you checked with crutchfield you might find out a PAC's SWI-X interface that is compatible with your vehicle, which would let you use your steering wheel control again.

@Antiposer2 put it into standby mode and go into function if you navigate around a little you can find preout and switch it to subwoofer and it will add the sw settings to the ipod/radio functions.
@VideoUploaderr If your referring to a built in function as so? No, Only because that feature actually ruins the sound quality. Your better off turning the bass and treble up at your own discretion.
I really really like the power of this Kenwood unit ! especially the bass, and how high the volume goes without distorting it's yust perfect !! But i must say that the highs are not that really well.. only if you use a expensive Jbl speakers, you can hear good sound quality on the high frequency..But if you have standard speakers and tweeters, the highs are not perfect ..
@unitedweride95 I installed it myself in under 30 minutes. Installing decks isn't a difficult task by any means. Especially since there are hundreds of instructions on forums and on youtube.

@TheNitromx Sure can, but only if you hook it up through the AUX port. I don't think it can handle the signal through USB. But I have not tried it, so feel free to post your results as a video response!
@anckentucky i plug in my ipod to the usb and it brings up connecting like normal then it switches over to ipod error and i already made sure it was compatible
@GealzOnWeelz It does it to me sometimes to. What I've done was get a can of air like the kind you use for a keyboard and sprayed it in there to make sure all the dust is out, because if there is dust in there and it keeps the metal connectors from making a connection it won't connect. If that doesn't solve your problem try a different USB cable from Apple and maybe even try turning the deck off and back on. If none of those work there may be something wrong with it bro.
@crulockdown Sometimes when the sun hits it right on the dot it will be kinda hard to see but you can still faintly see it. I hardly ever have trouble with it though. I also have tinted windows, but polarized sunglasses can block out the glare the sun leaves on the deck anyways.

@Cameronm55 Yes this has been one of the best purchase decisions I have ever made. I mainly bought it because of it's availability to use the iPod and iPhone with it which I did not have with my factory stereo. It's amazing easy to use and has just about every function you really need. Radio, CD, MP3, AUX, and USB plus all the inputs and outputs you really need to on the back. I love it and would only trade for a touchscreen NAV/DVD system but I simply don't have the funds.

@BBarrons4 You should really read the manual. Everything is in there. Anyways just click source til it goes to standby. If the clock doesn't show up then click the Display button until it shows clock.
how do you set up the subwoofer? we hooked up a amp to ours and hooked the speakers up through the amp.... the amp power turns on but we don't get sound through the speakers....? we've tried everything setting.... we can't find any sub out settings or anything like that.... is there something we are missing? please help if you know...
@gcool71 Click the power button until it changes to standby. When its on standby feature click the volume knob in to access settings. Scroll until you see amp preout or something similar Switch it to the appropriate settings.You should be good from there. But if the amp is powered on and the Remote turn on lead is turning it on then you may have blown the outputs on your amp. If the Positive and Negative wires touch that go from the amp to the sub then it can short out your outputs. Amp=Useless

@dillon816 It works. I've tested every iPhone that has been released except the 1st and 2nd Generations which were over 3 years ago. As long as its a newer iPhone you should be good. It's compatible with each software update. I have no problem with mine nor have I had any friends with that problem. You may have just received a damaged unit.
@ahsjose yes you hit the 1 button on the face of the deck and it will switch between controls on the cd player or through your ipod. The sound quality difference isn't that noticeable unless your playing at really high volumes, AUX will distort quicker than the USB because its a digital signal..

@TheChillin421 From my digging and searching through the settings I have not found this feature. But you can turn the bass down just a tad to keep from blowing your speakers and adjust your amp accordingly to make up for the bass thats lost. You shouldn't have any problems.
@Jwendling24 Installed it myself. Cost of butt connectors was $3 at AutoZone. Best Buy may install it in your area for about $70. But It's not a complicated install by any means. Just make sure you have the antenna adapter and the wire harness made to fit your car.

@bizengrowl Just rotate and Push it. The joysticks on these kinds of players end up breaking and not working very well. I try to avoid them at all cost.

@Krannyman92 Well i mean if you can't use the USB for the Zune then you can always just use the AUX input for it. I use the AUX for my iPod because its alot easier to unplug and plug back in quickly comparative to having to sit and wait for the iPod to load up every time i plug it in.
@anckentucky true, i use the AUX with my HD right now, but i like the sound quality difference when switching from AUX to USB since its a direct connection rather than having to go through the internal headphone jack amplifier.

@84reliantk You should man, I still have mine and i wouldn't trade it for any other Single DIN cd player. I would only upgrade to a Nav system. But for christmas I'm getting a 3G iPad and I might be installing it into the dash and moving the Kenwood up to a top compartment and flushing everything in.

the bass level jus goes up to 2? or does it go up all the way to 10 like the normal decks do? and if you dont want the bass slamming can u turn it down to negative 10 ? -10 ?
@2003bmw760li I think it goes up to 8 and down to -8. but i haven't tried so i wouldn't know. I have 2 twelves hooked up to it with a remote bass knob, i never touch the bass controls on the deck.

I got this radio for my 94 Eagle Vision and everything but the tuner is working great...I obviously had great radio reception from my stock unit but I cant get anything but pure static from this system, All the wires that were available to be connected have been including the antenna wire, do you know of any possible solution for me to try, I just cannot figure this one out for the life of me...and help at all would be more than greatly appreciated...
@TheDMiller12 Negative dude. My car does not work with the Kenwood adapter that allows for the use of Steering Wheel Controls. Trust me i did my research before i made the video.
Just bough this today and could not be happier. This Thing is amazing super simple to use and it allows you to control your ipod touch through the screen itself. The sound quality is great. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

I got this unit about 1 week and half ago-and I have to say Aaron is so right about this stereo. I had upgraded my speakers 6 months prior and after ordering this radio-I thought do I need a sub also. Well-let me tell ya, this thing offers perfect sound with a nice-neighbor friendly thump. I have had a Pioneer and Alpine deck in my Chevy-but this one takes the cake!! I love it, I would of paid twice what I did if I knew it would sound this good. Plus my Zune is seamless-just perfect!!
@gravelandgrain100 Yea ive always preferred the SQ from Kenwood's and Clarion decks over Alpines. Everyone says the alpines have the best features and pack more for the money but you get what you pay for, and every Kenwood i've owned has been perfect and i wouldnt expect anything less.

i called them about it and they wanted 100 bucks to install. they said 50 was for the wire harness : / i got a wire harness at auto zone for like 10 dollars.
@djcookie456 What do you mean make them louder? The only thing that makes subs louder is a better amp that comes closer to matching the MAX RMS ratings of your subwoofers. The cd player has a built in bass boost and bass level but it doesnt necissarily make them louder, it will although make them sound clearer, much clearer.
buy ALL ur car stereo shit at Future Shop haha u get life time warrenty on parts and labour AND u can get 4 year warrenty so that they will fix your deck for any problems...ur covered for everything except driving into a lake haha

@bizengrowl Just rotate and Push it. The joysticks on these kinds of players end up breaking and not working very well. I try to avoid them at all cost.

zune compatible in what sense? i have a 16gb HD. do you control the songs through the headunit or can you play them normally through the zune menu.

@Krannyman92 Well i mean if you can't use the USB for the Zune then you can always just use the AUX input for it. I use the AUX for my iPod because its alot easier to unplug and plug back in quickly comparative to having to sit and wait for the iPod to load up every time i plug it in.

@anckentucky true, i use the AUX with my HD right now, but i like the sound quality difference when switching from AUX to USB since its a direct connection rather than having to go through the internal headphone jack amplifier.

@84reliantk You should man, I still have mine and i wouldn't trade it for any other Single DIN cd player. I would only upgrade to a Nav system. But for christmas I'm getting a 3G iPad and I might be installing it into the dash and moving the Kenwood up to a top compartment and flushing everything in.

the bass level jus goes up to 2? or does it go up all the way to 10 like the normal decks do? and if you dont want the bass slamming can u turn it down to negative 10 ? -10 ?

@2003bmw760li I think it goes up to 8 and down to -8. but i haven't tried so i wouldn't know. I have 2 twelves hooked up to it with a remote bass knob, i never touch the bass controls on the deck.

@anckentucky, oh ok , ya i had a bass enhancer aswel but its roasted now,i thot it was the fuse that blew so i got a new fuse but that didnt work so the things just roasted,but with the deck ya im gonna go pick this deck up tomorro cuz mines retarded the volume goes up by itself an the songs change every 10 seconds,an its not the buttons that are pushed in its the micro chip inside thats fucked up, it was a Ultimate DVD 35 mosfet , with a little dvd screen,they are garbage decks

I got this radio for my 94 Eagle Vision and everything but the tuner is working great...I obviously had great radio reception from my stock unit but I cant get anything but pure static from this system, All the wires that were available to be connected have been including the antenna wire, do you know of any possible solution for me to try, I just cannot figure this one out for the life of me...and help at all would be more than greatly appreciated...

@TheDMiller12 Negative dude. My car does not work with the Kenwood adapter that allows for the use of Steering Wheel Controls. Trust me i did my research before i made the video.

Just bough this today and could not be happier. This Thing is amazing super simple to use and it allows you to control your ipod touch through the screen itself. The sound quality is great. I would definitely recommend this to anyone.

For the people that want there ipod to be hidden away its an annoyance to control with any CD players functionality. None are simple or flawless as they seam. Glad my review helped persuade you as well. Makes me feel better about my review helping people take that extra step. There wasn't a review when i bought it thats why i made one for everyone.

Just purchased. what i can't figure out is how to select the EQ options, (rock, jazz, etc). I noticed you were messing with it using your remote so i have no idea how you did that since you did not show it. other thing is how to mess with treble, mid, bass. can you explain using the radio itself and not the remote please. overall, i like it. like the sound. thanks!

I got this unit about 1 week and half ago-and I have to say Aaron is so right about this stereo. I had upgraded my speakers 6 months prior and after ordering this radio-I thought do I need a sub also. Well-let me tell ya, this thing offers perfect sound with a nice-neighbor friendly thump. I have had a Pioneer and Alpine deck in my Chevy-but this one takes the cake!! I love it, I would of paid twice what I did if I knew it would sound this good. Plus my Zune is seamless-just perfect!!

@gravelandgrain100 Yea ive always preferred the SQ from Kenwood's and Clarion decks over Alpines. Everyone says the alpines have the best features and pack more for the money but you get what you pay for, and every Kenwood i've owned has been perfect and i wouldnt expect anything less.

Hey Aaron, I just bought this model and had it installed form Best buy today too - thanks for the quick tutorial! U showed me how to use the ipod hands on/off feature! Its a pretty cool model - Had the stock radio in my jeep before and now im looking forward to getting used to this baby! Its got so many more features than my old radio! Thanks man you rock!

@MrJohnw93 dude its not that bigga deal. some people dont have the 30 minutes or the required skillset to install the deck. Id rather him take it to BestBuy and have the wires saudered or connected with butt connectors than use electrical or duck tape...

@djcookie456 What do you mean make them louder? The only thing that makes subs louder is a better amp that comes closer to matching the MAX RMS ratings of your subwoofers. The cd player has a built in bass boost and bass level but it doesnt necissarily make them louder, it will although make them sound clearer, much clearer.

buy ALL ur car stereo shit at Future Shop haha u get life time warrenty on parts and labour AND u can get 4 year warrenty so that they will fix your deck for any problems...ur covered for everything except driving into a lake haha
