Captivate is an amazing phone... Its unbelievably fast.. It is already faster than the Nexus one with Froyo and with the 2.2 update coming at the end of the year for the captivate its going to make other phones seem extremely slow.. Dont get me wrong the Nexus one is a great phone to, "twice as good as any Iphone" But between these two I saw the captivate is the way to go..
Of course the captivate. The only upside to the nexus one is that it is running froyo, but the captivate is gonna run that this month anyway. captivate beats the nexus one in most aspects. even if you were looking for the nexus one, it is harder to find now that google no longer sells them.
ich stand vor der entscheidung galaxy oder n1 , hatte sogar das n1 in der hand und überlegte ob ich es holen sollte - gut das ich mir das galaxy s geholt habe ^^
I've researched the captivate pretty hard core and I'm making the switch from iPhone to android at the end of the month. I have had one samsung phone before and over all it was pretty good. I started to have trouble with the keypad staying lit up but I was pretty rough on it so that was probably my fault.
Look for videos for reviews for both. Know both version's of OS then make your decision. I sent you a message. I own a Nexus one but captivate in many ways kicks it's ass. Totally depends on what you need it to do I can tether with my N1 no hack or root involved and no monthly fee involved.
@killarshark33 I agree the iPhone is more pick and use device, while Android has a deeper learning curve ,but for me it's the other way around ,the iPhone/iPod touch{which I still own} are more for entertainment like music games etc.
while my Android phone is my daily driver, it's just that I can't live without Android's notification bar, quick ability to toggle settings/controls with a app called power strip and my customized home screen launcher. but your right , it's a personal preference.
I'm a ex iphone user, believe me Android offers way more features than the iO.S, the iO.S feels more like a phone , while Android is more like a Desktop O.S !
here's a list of things I like in Android over the iPhone , better notifications , customizable lock screen{I also love the pattern unlock}
File manager and mass storage
The homescreen is completetly customizable ,think of it as a Windows 7 desktop
plus many more things that are beyond the scope of this short reply box
Obviously the Captivate. Just bought this phone and wow, it's freaking amazing. I can't begin to tell everyone how great it really is. Easily the best Android phone on the market imo. I'm very happy that i chose this over the iPhoen 4 with all of its bugs and problems. I love the Samsung Android UI, it's just such a smooth phone in all aspects.
Everyone who saying the N1 is better obviously have not seen the Android benchmark comparisons. The Galaxy S blows away the N1 even with froyo. When the Captivate gets 2.2 the N1 will look like the G1. Its already rooted. We all know what that means in the next few months. Iphone4 is still the best well-rounded quality handset there is but IOS sucks with all the restrictions. So if you dont mind all kinds of restrictions buy the Iphone4. If not- do the EPIC 4G/Vibrant/Captivate.
I thought initially that Android is where it's at. However, I ordered myself an iPhone 4, and my dad a Galaxy S. iPhone's interface is much nicer. You also take for granted a certain air of quality after using the iPhone for a long time. That's definitely not true of Android.
Looking at Android in a shop and using Android all of the time is total different.
if you're for customization go with the nexus...its was designed by google to be rooted...plus its the first phone that will get gingerbread(3.0) on october
I would say Nexus One. I had it for a while now and I am very happy with it. All the hacks n mods that have been going around it is great, and the N1 will generally get all the new android updates first as it is the Google phone. Go N1!
hey man, I have a nexus one. I love it especially because its Google's Android phone so you can tell they take care of it (first to get froyo). I would hold out until Google releases there next gphone. from the sound of it your looking to get a new phone ASAP. If you go with a nexus one buy it full price for the warrant unless you root it. So many features already tho
Snazzy Android Hacker? Yeah booi. Welcome to the world of Android. I'd recommend N1 over Captivate from your two choices. BUT if you can hop onto Sprint EVO 4G all the way, it is without a doubt the best phone out right now.
I'd also recommend you look into the Desire (better N1) or a GSM version of Droid from outside USA, those might be expensive but I am sure they'd be worth it if you can swing the loss :p
captivate all the way!!!! even with just 2.1 it easily overtakes a N1 with 2.2, and it has the fastest GPU on a mobile phone!!! also if u dont like touchwiz on top, i'm sure u can take it off, i've seen vids of it
im planning to get the captivate..the nexus is becoming obsolete and the SuperAmoled along with the humming bird processor and higher camera capabilities trumps n1
As beertha said the Captivate is pretty nuts performance wise, the N1 did beat it in raw processing power but that's due to it running 2.2 and JIT compiler (which the Captivate is getting). Although that's just raw power, there's a demo if them running the same game side by side and the N1 looks like crap. When the Captivate gets 2.2 I think it's going to be nuts.
Captivate. You need to search for Captivate videos and see for yourself that the processing power and Graphics power beat any phone right now- especially the N1. There have been comparisons between the N1, DroidX, EVO and Captivate and the results are obiously in favor of the Masturbate (I mean Captivate) despite the N1 running 2.2.
@beertha lol i know what you mean man thats great and trust me i watched every video when they first dropped! BUT! the N1 is wayy more customizable and doesnt have the at&t least around its throat i can mod it and hack it to whatever i want!
@SnazzyiPhoneHacker There is already a root for the Captivate like the Vibrant and original Galaxy s. This phone is common to all 4 carriers so the hacking will be Epic (EPIC 4g). An android phone that is on all 4 carriers is a pretty strong testament to what will insue.
@xiKUDx Hey, I've got a Galaxy S, and an iPhone 4. They galaxy S suffers from death grip really badly! It sometimes drops from 4 bars (FULL) to 1 bar. My iPhone though drops from 3 (HALF) to 2 or 1. The signal strength of the networks is also weaker for the iPhone. Shame no one cares too much about the Samsung for anyone to notice!
@SnazzyiPhoneHacker actually both are just as customizable , cause the captivate is running Android too and will receive 2.2 froyo next month according to reports !
whoch BTW will provide a bigger speed boost to the already fast captivate , and believe once the roms start coming out for the captivate, it'll smoke any other phone performance-wise.
I suggest you look up the Smartphoneenvy channel they just did a head to head between these 2 phones !
