  • damn awesome song...reminds me of sunday mornings playing bangles greatest hits videos with my mum n dad :)

  • awesome and thank god for youtube and a great movie this song went with ....less than zero ..

  • This song really needs more cowbell.

  • There aren't very many good girl bands anymore.

  • @retto228 There aren't very many good bands anymore period. I don't think there are any 'musicians' anymore.

  • Always loved Vicki Petersen's legs. Damn.

  • the bangals sang this song ten times better than the original singers!!!!!!!!!!

  • @nicablackmamba I agree. Simon and Garfunkel are my favourite band but I think The Bangles did this song with a lot more power.

  • I wouldnt agree,i think s and g version is a lot better. There are too much vocals and artifical instrumentals here

  • Better than the original.

  • One of the best things to come out of the 80s (despite the missing lines). This is the ONE thing I look forward to listening to as soon as it starts snowing (or right as Spring starts).

  • Four gorgeous girls and one hot piece of rock & roll.

  • Look up now.Chemtrails are killing the whole planet. What will spring hold for the bread basket of America 2012?Chemwebs are changing the scenery.Did these girls get in trouble once?Keep an empty cup around and catch the poison rain. The Sound of silence Simon and Garfunkel song about Telsa secrets and microwave radiation.Haarp ,chemtrails, scalar waves, and mans ability to manipulate nature with SOUND.Time will tell what will become of us.Drought tolerant trees fried by Fukushima and chemtrails

  • Hey kiddo just means you have greaaaat !!!! Taste in musica!!!! Is it enjoy or injoy be cuz i do both --in the joy of the sound.

  • @Jgeneraledger23 I uploaded them performing this song on Good Morning America today!

  • MAN...this song takes me back!!! Always loved it and hadnt heard it in awhile!

The 80's were quite a time....lots of memories! LOL!

  • *sigh* Vicki is so beautiful.

  • i love this cover and i even read for thsi film as an annorexic""" i was pretty fat, actaully acfer the reading we all went ( i said nothing either so clwearly un=m dident get teh part) downey left me with the boll at zucvkeys and i had no fucking money so i had to dine and daqsh i m so gonna remind him of that one.

  • Pertient1 is know you is always in the market for a good song Miss Ninja ... this one is about Al Manat no? ... she can be a cruel lady sometimes...

  • I Forgot they have Vaginas. The Simon and Garfunkel Cover was too cool.

  • MORE COWBELL!!!

  • Wasnt the lead singer in a Porno?? I thought I heard that somewhere

  • @mrbobsshow no..it's a part in a movie that susanna did.. you can see her in underwear.. The Allnighter (film)

  • This makes me wish that all music was made by hot chicks :D

  • esta cancion es para alguien q no he visto aun, pero q es ha vuelto parte de mi , te extraño marco

  • i saw Less Than Zero because of this movie, and I actually really liked it.

  • The video clips are from the film Less Than Zero, a Bret Easton Ellis novel. Robert Downey Jr. was a very gorgeous young man.

  • @IceXMan87 ..Not only was he Gorgeous(still is)! He gave an OSCAR worthy performance in this movie! It's one of my favorite movies.FYI...Originally, the guitar player (on the far left) was one of the Originals in "the 1970's group "The Runnaway's) but was replaced by lita Ford . Joan jett was as you know basically started the group with Sandy West, RIP, and Kim Fowely...

  • my dad intrduced me to his favorite girl group of his time, they're not bad at all!

  • I heard this song played once at the time it came out.

It took me about 4 years to find it on a CD so I could hear it a second time.

One of the very very rare times a cover version is better than the original.

  • Susannah Hoffs is still to this day ,one of the prettiest Rythm guitar vocalists ever born!

  • @gladasya Her eyes should have been declared a weapon of mass seduction.

  • before the first instance of the chorus, i thought it was lame. but then it suddenly became epic.

  • I agree with twinkle, this is my favorite reading of the song mainly as Hoff's voice, while limited, is always effectively utilized to it's maximum potential. Less than Zero was a movie that started me on the way to eventually cleaning up alot of bad behaviors. This song makes my favorites if only for that.

  • @greeneyedstone42 Heh, oddly enough, me too. That film at the time - I was 18 - when it came out was quite a shocker for a lot of us I suppose. Brilliant flick, haven't seen it in ages. have to watch it this Xmas.

  • Awesome song. Great sound by the bangles. Always liked them.

  • Yes indeed, the Bangles rocked this song. I'm sure that Simon & Garfunkel didn't know that someone could do that with one of their songs.

  • HECK YEAH I'M 8 AGAIN :D

  • @thelitlemermaid77373 Yeah?? Me too!! 1987...the dream year. Long before a ride in an open car riding toward destiny, daring fate to shoot me down...wait. You wont get that reference. Never mind. Still, an awesome song from an awesome year.

  • Best of Bangles, sure like this.

  • i love this song!

  • Breat Easton Ellis

  • @dosclarineros the book is good!

  • Simon and Garfunkel is much better...

  • I always kinda liked this revved up version of the old Simon & Garfunkle hit by the Bangles. Typical eighties, still, I liked it.

  • As I watch this video, the sky here is a "hazy shade of winter". The following lines I see as the most optimistic of the song, and even they seem bittersweet to me.

Hang on to your hopes my friend

That's an easy thing to say

But if your hopes should pass away

    Simply pretend

That you can build them again

Classic "fake it until you make it". Better than giving up during dark times in my point of view.

  • Am I the only young person that loves the 80's music. If so then thats still ok with me. I LOVE THE 80's!!!!!!

  • @RayRoark2009 i do too!

  • Never cared for them, but loved this one; it certainly proved that they could really rock it if they wanted to! Sadly, this wasn't the version used on the actual soundtrack album, which is just plain too weak -- closer to pop than rock, really. Only flaw to the video would be the occasional goofy smile, which really seems out of character given the tone of the song. Otherwise, though, one of the best uses of a film's clips for one of its videos. A cover that far surpasses the original!

  • @tjhoenecke Have to agree with you. Typically I find covers rarely measure up to the original. This is a true exception. These girls can harmonize with the best of 'em. I think Paul Simon was proud of this version.

  • Garbage movie...AWESOME NOVEL

  • I like This song a lot. Really good guitar in this song. I like Susana Hoff's Rickenbaker

  • Awesome song to drive to.

  • Excellente... bravissima.

    +2.

  • Needs more cowbell

  • DEBBIE VICKY MICHELLE SUSANNA.................TOTAL RESPECT FOR THE SEXIEST 80's BAND...

  • Don't let your kid see this movie if he is an Ironman fan!

  • Maybe they were a bubble-gum eighties "chick band". But these girls could flat out rock when they wanted to. Killer drum beat, killer harmonies. Just a great ass-kicking song. Wish they had made more like this.

  • @beerjitsu I saw them live in Sydney last night, they opened with this song, Michael was not there just Debbie, Vicki and Susannah. I was there to see Pat Benatar the main act but came away with a massive respect and fandom of the Bangles, SO good live! True musos, both beautiful and talented!

  • Dang...need to go watch Less Than Zero now.

  • I think this is as good if not better than the original. I love Simon & Garfunkel but the Bangles really rock this song. I love it !

  • is that cowbell from 2:04-2:12?

  • @weadmd Without question that is cowbell. Nice ear my friend.

  • @weadmd Oh, yeah, that's cowbell. I could use a little more. I'd like to see Debbie really explore the space.

  • Dynamite hit!

  • that's funny I heard that song in "The City" also hahhahahha good song

  • Needs more cowbell.

  • Who in the hell was that guy with the long hair and sunglasses between 1:28 and 1:29

  • love this song for sure

  • Love Simon & Garfunkel's but the Bangles rocked it out! Love the 80's, and love Less than Zero!

  • Whoever says this version is better than the original needs an hear test. I like these women too, i like their music, but the original is the original... there is no way on earth, this is better than the original.

  • @nelsoncarmo26 I forgot how music is completely objective. Thanks for reminding us.

  • if ur gonna bad mouth the 80's about anything then it's gotta be the fashion, but leave the music alone. musicians were a lot more talented back then. i hardly listen to the radio at all nowadays.

  • Wow this song sucks ass.

  • Ya, so it can't beat Simon and Garfunkel's, but I like the speed and upbeat edginess of this variation all the same! The female voices and electric guitar are well-employed here I think. Thanks for posting!

  • Great song.

  • one the greatest cover songs ever

  • This is such a kick ass song!! Now, normally i do not like covers but this is an excellent cover of Simon and Garfunkel's version. It was used in an excellent 80's movie, Less than Zero!! Wow, this song takes me back to such great memories!! The best really. Such a great time of my life. Why it all had to change, I guess that is life but hard to let go of what we loved the most. I will always miss the 80's but I hold the memories tightly in my heart forever. Missing the 80's. 80's forever!!

  • @twinklebear22 great comment thinking exactly the same wish i could go back...

  • @twinklebear22 Right on! I don't care for some covers either. When my kids are listening to "their" music, I sometimes say "do you know where that song is actually from?".

Now that I watch songs here, I'm realizing that a lot of the ones that I loved in the 80's are covers. I like Under My Thumb by Streetheart better, but that's even going back to 79. eek!

I miss the 80s so bad too. What a great time of life.

  • @twinklebear22 I agree 100%.This is a great cover

  • This is definitely the Bangle's best hit, in my opinion. The women themselves agree with me; I think it was Vicki Peterson (the lead guitarist) herself that admitted the sound on this track is the closest to what they sound like live.

  • Good name for that movie... Less Than Zero.

  • @MaceMn ha ha ha word,...

  • Comment removed

  • The Bangles did a kick ass version of this...and it always helps to have an awesome video!

  • 名曲だぁね☆

  • One of the best girl groups of ALL TIME!!!

    along with HEART.

Long live Suzanna Hoffs sooooooo hot.

  • What was the name of the redhead?

  • michael micki steele

  • To call from West of the Rockies please dial...

  • That's what's really cool

  • still a classic to this day great version

  • great song!!

  • one of my favorite Bangles songs=)

  • Nothing hotter than hot girls that can jam it out like that. I remember having such a crush on Susanna hoffs and the redhead.

  • Fantastic lyrics.

  • i just FOUND out this was a simon and Garfunk song...

  • Yes - big song for S&G back in the 60's.

  • Was pretty big fo S&G but The Bangles version was a bigger hit went to #2

  • RDJ

  • Saw the movie, had forgotten the Bangles were in it -- and never knew til now they'd done it for the movie.

Love the Bangles cover, love the S&G original. Don't really get how one could be "better" than the other; they're such different takes, it's almost a different song.

ChilO'80s, thanx much for posting this!

  • Less than zero was a great movie.

  • Drinking vodka & lime sure would have fit in with LESS THAN ZERO.

  • no.

  • This is a great version for sure. The original was released in November 1966 though, not 1967. It also is a great song especially the single mix.

  • So. Cal in the 80's and 90's/ Great times.

  • Sussane Hoffs is hot) i like the way they move in this video)

  • simon and garfunkel originally

  • wow been looking for this song for so long... brings back a ton of memories :)) thanks a million for posting it!!

  • LOOKS LIKE A YANKEE'S ABBA !

    LOL !

  • Debbi rocks.

    She's so sexy.

    I love her.

  • bring back the wonderful bangles. one of the only good things that came outa the 80's

  • Hmmmm? Markdeanellen. You must have gone through a different 80's than I. ;) Lol. I had a blast!

  • The Bangles Hazy Shade of Winter, from the cult movie classic Less Than Zero.

Great 80's band and great 80's actors: Jamie Gertz, Robert Downey jr., James Spader, Andrew McCarthy. About the only one missing is Molly Ringwald.

  • I somehow feel compelled to download ur so gay by Katie Perry after listening to this. Maybe it's the Less than Zero influence on the video. :)

  • Less Than Zero was like the other "Brat Pack" movie. (Kind of like the "other" white meat.)

  • ridiculous "customs", hair, etc.... but nice music....

Much much better than today's hiphop.-trash music

  • Susana Hoffs <3

  • less than zero. great book, shocker of a movie, This song was used over the title credits. (i think). book by bret easton ellis. of american psycho fame.

  • These chicks kicked some serious butt!

  • u got 2 love this song frm the 80's between the bangels and go go's i dont no who is hotter suzanne or belinda is the?

  • i don't know but her voices are my favorite :D

  • Susanna Hoffs AmazinG !!!!!!!!!!

  • is that robert downing JR?

  • i still want to be in a sandwich with these chicks

  • While Bret Easton Ellis recently did the movie THE INFORMERS which is still set in the early 80s, it never captured the intensity of his earlier work LESS THAN ZERO. The power cast of andrew mcCarthy-robert downey-james spader trio made this a spellbinding performance that reverberated late into the 90s and was one of the most unforgettable movies of the 80s..

  • Well put. It is the quintessential generation Xer film with a fantastic soundtrack! Darsha and Sandy

  • Better than Simon and Garfunkle!

  • a great song from a totaly women group

  • love this version . great band and hoffs still looks hot at 50

  • I think she s only about 30 in this video.

  • Ouch....amazingly ouch.

  • bad band, great guitar riff

  • what movie appears in this video?

  • "Less than Zero", a huge hit back in '88

  • MORE COWBELL!!

  • ummm it's a sleigh bell!

  • I miss Michael. She was a hottie too!

    Eye catching.

  • other people might not like them, but i do.

  • Me too! Tied for my favorite band.

  • Didn't think this was possible, but this song actually needs LESS cowbell :)

  • A proper girl band, accept no substitutes !!

  • They sound like The beatles here

  • This song is originally by Simon and Garfunkel.

  • 2.17" Still in love!

  • 1.44 Mikie

  • there should be a HOT hall of fame so we can induct suzana hoffs. damn.

  • epic...

  • I absolutely LOVE this song. It's rare that a cover is better than the original, but I think this is one of those times.

  • better the original one this life and others

  • what the hell that's a shame

  • @petazed I wouldn't go that far but it is pretty good lol

  • @petazed i sadley disagree with you and fully agree with Jinofthethunder the Original is BETTER

  • i want to be raped by the bangels

  • LOL! They are all grandmas now!

  • then ill be a granny fucker

  • The Bangles were probably the most talented female group of all time. Too bad they couldn't have stayed together.

Less Than Zero is an excellent, but very tragic, movie that is difficult to watch as a friend and former lover slowly descends into utter debasement and Hell.

  • You're listening to Coast to Coast A.M.!!!
