  • I was gonna be a game programmer.. but then I took an college ad to the ear...

  • who can program me a sega video game i will pay money for it

    email me georgevida1 at hotmail

  • potato microphone?

  • OH MY GOD MY EARS

  • what software is it? to program games?

  • @fridgeraw Thers ALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

  • i found MY career!

  • ffs....what happened to the sound ?

  • @ExhaleMe It has a built in compiler though

  • @EXhaleMe visual studio has an compiler so it is an compiler

  • Blender...

  • RIP headset users

  • @ExhaleMe IDEs have compilers built in so therefor Visual Studio is also an compiler

  • @PUDGYtheWHALE took the comment out of my hands.

  • I'd be curious to see what the placement rates for the majors in video game industry is. I would think you that you would be better off getting a normal CS degree rather than a fluff gamer design degree.

  • The independent gaming industry is the way to go. Just look at notch. He just used a laptop and a desktop, no advanced super ultra shenanigan machine, just a computer. This is the reason I spent a year learning basic java and I'm still learning that. I'm only 12 but I keep learning and learning so that when I grow up, not to get cocky but well,so I can fill notches shoes. :)

  • If you want to learn programming (free and legally), start with Python; do the problems on Project Euler -- if you can make it through all of those, you'll be ahead of most of the people I graduated with.

Youtube has more than a few video lectures on CS topics -- Stanford and MIT's are especially good. And, Google is your friend.

Then for games, start using OpenGL for graphics (PyOpenGL for Python users) and GIMP for texturing skins.

Still sane? Learn x86 IS and GCC C compiler use.

  • What is the program that is being used in the video?

  • best gaming work.........keep it up man

  • i want to become game developer because i love to making video games , design and programming

  • @samuraijack009 then learn math and c++ then math , then math again

  • You all make me laugh...

  • @Farzher that s not true! * a source code editor * a compiler and/or an interpreter * build automation tools * a debugger

    (from Wikipedia)

  • thannk god i saw a black guy...

  • @DarkM1k4 dont start with unity, learn a programming language such as c++, or java because its easier for beginners, then when you are comfortable with programming, you could try scripting in unity, if you google tutorials for those languages, you'll get alot of websites, with escellent info

  • @Nikon05 C++ is easier for beginners? No shit? I recommend him C# instead, in C++ u have to deal with all of that memory, pointers and etc. It's not recommended for beginners. But yeah, java could do it.

  • @kaktusas86 i forgot a comma, java is easier for beginners, not c++. but learning c++ first will be better in the long run, as it only gets easier from there

  • @Nikon05 You are right, althrough, I started with C++ ;) it was hard, but i grasped it :D

  • @DarkM1k4 learn to walk before you try to run

  • @Distrub122334 You have to learn programming language.

  • is a lot of math required in game programming?

  • @lilshoc2 not a lot, logic is more required...

  • @lilshoc2 oh ok i wanted to know because I'm taking computer software courses in college in now because I want to be a game programmer. But math has never been my strongest subject.

  • what program do you use for the game?

  • what program is that

  • hehe, visual basic. This was funny.

  • I suck ass at math can i still do this stuff?

  • @Duff2021 What do you consider "math"?

The true meaning behind math is "logic". One's ability to reason and figure out problems and solutions. Grammar and math are exactly the same in that respect.

    Programming is all about grammar.

If you want to start out, get Blender for 3D modeling and the Unity 3D game engine (use Javascript for the programming in it).

It's tough to learn, but I think it's a fair place to start.

  • @jlopez0o You need to study Physics, Information Technology(IT) and high level standard in Maths like Math Methods or Math Specialist and that's all you need to know...

  • Watch "Population Reduction" by Dr. Rima. Cross reference Keith Olbermann and Habeas Corpus and watch your Bill of Rights thrown out the window. Look into the U.S. Spy Bill -HR6304. Watch HBO's Hacking Democracy and look into the continuous vote fraud through Black Box Voting dot org Watch "National Security Alert" Watch Richard Gage's Presentation at the Manatoba University. Watch "Fall of the Republic" Watch Hyperinflation videos by inflation.us. I'll be at "The Tea Party Truther"

  • I'll be moving heading to TSTC for this very degree.. on the 27th..

    I cant wait.

  • i only have 10 years old... but i love games!and i want create it! i gonna use all of my fre time to see this!

  • what program do dem use?

  • 2:00 'Visual basic'

    *facepalm*

  • game programming is ridiculously hard!

  • @halflifeproductionz It is only as hard as YOU make it.

  • i go to TSTC. i dont know how old this video is. we use alienware and custom built PCs. we also have Macs but running windows with bootcamp. and we have the eyefinity setup. but other than that they need to update this video. We have 20 custom pcs equiped with EVGA's Classified SR-2 Motherboard with Two Intel Core I7 Processors with Turbo Boost and 48GB DDR3 Ram and 4 way SLI and Crossfire X. So its amazingly fast when creating games with 3ds max, and Auto Desk Software,

  • 3:00, need to work on realistic movement lol

  • very good blog for people finding solutions for their pc problems....

  • so for college i can take Computer Science Major to become a game designer?

  • C, visual basic, and Java. Poopies

  • @JerkyTreehorn so i guess thats a yes

  • thats nice... but i notices they have CLT monitors (cathrode laser tube) monitor...... even Mt. Sac has lcd.

  • you guys are lucky, too bad that is not how it works in our school,

  • lol im the kid that asks for microsoft office for christmas lol

  • @fartknockerfartknock your just freaky lol il just download it.

  • @waterplea well yea i am smart enough to rip it off i would never buy it lol i was just saying that if i couldnt i would ask for it for christmas im a mega geek (that dosnt really care about spelling or proper grammer lol )

  • @fartknockerfartknock lol the same for me (and why would you try to spell right :3 )

  • looks like a very young CSI: Miami Horatio Caine lol. Cools.

    Cool vid

  • with what program the people

    with visual basic ??????????????

  • yes some people use visual basic, wich is one of many programming languages like C++, Java, C#, etc.

  • @RIGENSTEIN at last, a person who knows that java is a computer language and just a mobile phone game platform...

  • What learning instuition would I have to go to be a game programmer?(lead programming)

  • I signed up for Computer Science I & II my sophomore year in High School, can't wait till next year!

  • @IMASCATMANjohnn lucky my gd highscholl doesent have any cs classes

  • I want to learn C++! But the university Im going to teach only Java...I dont want java argh and there's no school here that teaches C language

  • @blackdeckbox Try XoaxDotNet :)

  • nowadays its all about Python GUI. the best universities in the world teach Python.

  • teach yourself c++, if you dont knwo much about programming. Then ill jsut say java and c++ are very very similar. Anyway ocne you elarn java you wont find it hard to learn anything else such as c++ etc..

  • visual basic is little more easier for the programmer for first time use

  • buy a book

  • @blackdeckbox I really recommend you to get a book about C or C++ (I suggest C++ due to the fact that with that language you will learn about Object Oriented Programming, thing that you cant use in C), is the most used language to create games, after that if you want learn about Lua and Python. Another option could be C# due to XNA

  • how do use I use c++

  • @Dudex58 first you need an IDE (Integrated Development Enviroment), is the software where you write the code to make a program, you can use Netbeans and Codeblocks (they are free and very good) but you can also use VisualStudio, the only difference being that that one is not free. You can check some tutorials about c++ or you can get a book, but If you dont have any experience in programming, I recommend first to learn about the basics of algorithms.

  • stop smiling gay boy

  • HAHAHA did u see the computers they use...plus on top a CRT? come on thats a dumb school

  • 3ds max ;)

  • @michitech95 whats 3ds max

  • @michitech95 3DS MAX ALLL THE WAY

  • what program do these people in the video use?

  • can some one give me a tip how to became programmer

  • Stay in School

  • yeah i know but still not starting to teach programming only typing lectures it sucks always like that for 4 moths i wanted to change school next SEM

  • sesestro Read 1-C\C++ for Dummies.

2-Operating Systems Design and Implementation- its comes with source code and tutorial how it work

  • thanks it's helpful :D

  • first, know your basics. the language that i am fluent with is java. learn data structures, and then move on to gui, or grahical user interface. then you can learn game programmming(which is not the hardest type of programming)

  • @sesestro

    go to school

  • yes school is the best place to learn but i wanted to know more advance

  • most of people in the world are dumb

and more than few of them are genius those who lead the sheep to technology to happiness

  • game programming is actually the hardest areas of programming, I am a programmer, I know its very hard.

People misunderstand that only if your a programmer or a gamer wont make you become a game builder.

    be able to program

know about data sturcuture and operating systems

know about graphics not just art proper computer grahics

know not just maths buy importantly physics.

Understand of what makes a game fun.

    Usability HCi GUI etc.

  • can you give me some tip for programming like that i want to be a programmer

  • i dont see any programming, just modelling.

  • I am a Computer Scientist

  • I Saw that in the making of rise to honour

  • Computer Science Technolog???... and then he cant controle the sound volume. Damn an amateur!

  • i got 3d max free. Extremly hard program :o

  • Could you reccomend any software for 3D Computer Game Graphics for windows that is Easy to use, but also very effective?

  • 3Ds Max, but its expensive...

    Milkshape

    Canvas 3D

I use Blender, because its open source.

  • did u mean blender game engine??

thats the most easier game engine of all!!

  • "Easy to use, but also very effective". That's pretty much an oxymoron. The software gives you back as much as you put into it.

Although some have more polished interfaces than other, you really just need to choose one to get familiar with and start making something.

  • i would love to make some games..

  • download blender!!

in blender u don't need to coding and scipting to make games!!

  • whoa a lot of CRT monitors in that room xD

  • Whoa, Visual Basic!

  • the sound was a bit crap, but i would LOVE to be at that uni, seriously!

  • indeed -_-

  • oh yeah and what 3d program should i use??

  • 3ds max!!! the best!!

  • second that

  • 3ds max, like loriobrothers said, its one of the best 3d modeling programs made, along with maya. but a nice free one is blender 3d

  • so any tips?

  • i started makeing my game 1 year ago its hard for me couse im just 11 years old

  • Using what program?

  • Well,Thats My dream job..and no one is going to change that

    ^^

  • same

  • same

  • @davi721

    me to bro :D

hhow far are you? are u already good?

  • @davi721 Kudos to you.

  • @davi721 me too

  • this cud be me wen im older ^^

  • Wow! So cool XD!

  • Looks like a very dim place.. Or do they just operate at night?

Would love to try such a course :D

  • Wow a game simulation chair that sounds practical! All the kids are using plug in steering wheels nowadays!

  • this is a bit like advertising lol

  • what is the program or what ever u use

  • that is some kickass music what is it

  • which graphic library?opengl or directx?

  • It doesn't matter. It's more important that you understand the theory. I use OpenGL because it works on Linux, Mac and Windows systems.

  • 3ds max

  • Do they have any good game programming colleges in Oklahoma?

  • man, i wish we have those kind of softwares in our schools. unfortunately, philippines is not that progressive country and i admit we are very behind in terms of softwares and versions.

  • The software is 3ds max 7 or 8 :D

  • I'm studying Computer Games in London and its very similar to what they showed in this video. We are using Visual Studio to compile the c++ code, we also study Assembler language which is really hard. You need strong maths skills to be a game programmer and you need to be artistically talented if you want to be a 3d modeler. If you got any questions msg me, i know i didnt get the info needed when i looked for it.

  • hey buddy..i am actually doing engineering in information technology(4 year course) and i desperately wanna get into the gaming industry as a game programmer..can you please guide me as to what must i do to get in the right place..

  • depends, but I recommend you to learn to program "object-oriented" and the most important thing is to plan properly (very understimated by beginners)

If you want to understand how a real game comes together more quickly then I recommend you to google for "XNA". Just start challenged but with manageable smaller games.

  • any tips how to begin making simpe games advices etc

  • Learn c++ and java. These are the base languages that you need to know. Most platform games are coded in c++, java is mainly used for mobile phone games etc, but if you know c++, java will be a piece of cake to learn. If you want to make games i can use programs such as "game maker" they are close to c++, for 3d modelling you need maya/max 3d

  • There is a program called blender which is apparently easier then learning a computer language, but it kind of limits the potential of the game.

  • you have to be good at programming fundamentals. Like bountie11 said. C++ and java are ideal. Be decent in those languages. For advanced games, observe the video. You need good modeling and animation skills to link your codes to. download visual studio or Bryce 5.5. Its software that can get you started.

  • Just learn C++ (or which ever language is best for you), dont think about the ganes yet in my opinion.

  • Ok where do i start with Java? I made stuff like hello world and flowcontrol from some tutorials. So i can get a few numbers on the screen. But how can i start doing like some animation so the stuff i make will look good?

  • hahahahahahahahahahaha hahahahahahah

NEVER !! LMAO hahah hello world hahaaaaaaahahaha hahahahhaha really haha LMAO hahahaha

  • U need a game engine.

They dont make thous for java.

You must buy C++ and get something like CryEngine so you can make games.

  • That's why you just program your engine xD, you don't have to get one from another place. I think I have seen an engine with Java.

And you actually don't need an engine, it makes your life a lot easier.

  • You dont need a CryEngine ... The engines are subjective you need to make a library of you your models and textures and if you want to make it easyer write a editor "Like CryEngine" or other...

  • You don't need a game engine. You need a graphics library.

    Try Java3D or JOGL.

  • Agree with | | \/

And you little kids dont know shit Java is one of the most powerful SDKs out there. it takes alot of talent to program this, C and C++ are so conceptualy defficult that even some of the greatest programmers have problems writting code for it. If there is one more 12 year old that says "i can write games is C++" i will shoot up my campus

  • C++ is easy becus its grafical now that VISUAL C++ was invented.

Without it u actually have to write the code insted of putting weapons and stuff to levels. But visual studio is not free. Nobody writes machine code ( C CODE!) thes days!

  • True Lol!

  • i hate how every 12 year old kid just has to make the "i'm learning basic guys" or "i'm so good at game maker guys" why can't they just stop

(they all have to post their age also which really for some reason makes me want to take watermelons, and drop them of a three story building)

  • ha ha ha

  • if anyone knows what progame they are using i would be so happy if u could tell me.

  • i know what they were using in the beginning has something to do with shaders

  • i'm 13 and i can already program c++ i am currently making my own type of software so...

    suck my balls

  • lol. You don't know anything. C doesn't suck. Learn more about computers till you tell us anything again.

  • can any1 tell me how much u get paid a year

  • If you make a real good game like Halo..millions but that takes a crew of skilled computer scientist.

  • A game programmer with a 4 year degree can expect to make around 80k a year out of college

  • i'm 12 i love game creating like 3d characters and stuff

  • im 12 years old im not good in game programming just only whit game maker i want to be a great game programer sooo i like ur vid good job

  • hehe im 12 and learning c++, just thought i might point that out XD

  • lol im 13 and im learning c++ :P

  • how long did it take you to learn it?

  • well I hant fully learnt it I'm still learning the C++ language

  • man im taking advanced computer science and im in 9th grade and its so hard for me i so how do i quit my computer science elective class?

  • bah! for me the guys must learn the programming for make software that can help the peoples, and not for make stupid videogames

  • yeah, thats why people who make games end up making millions of dollars while software companies make like 3x less than video game makers, im learning Basic atm unfourtunatly :( but i am 14 :) hopefully ill be a great video game maker and make games like oblivion or final fantasy.

  • I'd actually recommend learning C++, then SDL. SDL is easy and you can make 2D games. Try to get your hands on Game Programming all in one, 1st edition. The one made by Bruno Miguel Teixeira de Sousa. It explains C++ well, and then learn SDL.

  • can artistic folks learn programing?

  • c++ gdk and direct sdk for directx 10 just you should learn to code in c++ then gdk to code programs then games

  • which software should be used to make the graphics??

  • the program i first started off with was ac3d. its great friendly forums and easy software. i recommend this as your first software install.
